My vote goes to "I'd rather keep all building in instances, and decide who can see it at all times." as it will help keeping a clean Landscape and also allow interaction with multiple players at any given time depending on the building owner needs/desires.

Most of the time we will be experimenting new approaches on how to build and also learning how best to use the Landmark tools. These types of constructions I don't want to share. They are going to pollute the landscape.

But at certain times it will be important to share the final product or a partial construction in order to get new suggestions from other players and to allow other to help you with the construction of the building.

It really depends on the way the world works for me. If EQ:N Landmark ends up just being a building tool with some added crafting features, I don't really mind whether people only see the finished project or me building in real-time.

However, if it's much like EQ:Next itself, an evolving world in which we're to be immersed, then yes. I would like to see everything. It will add to the immersion of the game world in my opinion.

I think the player should have the choice to decide when & how they want to show off what they have done. Some would like to keep it private until they are done, and some want to show it off from the start. The more options players have the better. Those that want it private all others would see is a site in progress (ladders & scaffolding, pits, tools laying around, etc), and those that want others to see what they are doing we would see the progress.

I know I would rather have it set to private until I am finished. I have no desire to get messages from others asking how I did this or that, comments on how it looks before it is finished (because we know the game will have A-HOLES who go around and just make stupid remarks on peoples work), people offering up how they think it would look better with this or that, or saying they could do it better. I just don't want to deal with the idiots that I know will be in the game (they are in every mmo.)

I have never built before as I am an old, and I mean old, EQ player. But I am so ready to become part of this!

Well, that would encourage two and three story buildings at least! Wizards need towers. I can't really tell by the videos if the dev's needed "anchors" to build off of. I'd assume something should keep us from just placing floating objects in the air, but this is a magical world afterall.

i have no problem letting people see me build, they could even provide commentary or suggestions while im doing it

I saw it once, said "Mallas Scumlord was here." What ye have to eat that morning, corn? :D

The more I think on it, the more I do think that people wanting to sell their builds or stuff, should really have privacy. Intellectual property protection, as it were.

I would just love to build like crazy and have people stumble on my build while they're out and about. Hopefully they'll be all "oooh, ahhhh, I didn't know this was here!" about it.

But I wouldn't like to have that at the expense of someone else's work getting hijacked.

So I'm torn on it. Maybe give us each two plots, lol. Then we can choose 2 build world plots, 2 instanced plots, or 1 of each... That way you encourage people who are going to do so, to participate in your store without penalizing people who like to do just a little preening.

    Just a smidge. :D

I think it should all be public. But in the same token, if you are building to sell your stuff, you might want to keep it secret so that people can't copy you, and publish it before you. So I guess... I kind of have mixed feelings about this one.

    It's a 50/50 split for me.

But, what me, and MANY other people would really like to know is this...
PvP/Combat styel.. is it open world pvp? is it tab target, or action based combat like tera/darkfall etc....

For me, Letting other people see what I'm building would add to my enjoyment.

I am all for building within the community, seeing others build, and so on. For me -- locked instances diminish the "world" of the game. I'd rather spend my EQ time somewhere growing, changing, unpredictable.

If you or I don't want our creations to be seen until they are complete, we can simply build a wall around it to keep out those prying eyes until we are ready to unveil it to the world :)

Agreed, but I think this is more about landmark than EQN. The build world versus the "gaming" world--though it sounds like both will very much be 'games'. But one more the way of MC, the other more the way of a more officialish MMO.

I knew someone by your name, by the way.

Where is the vote option of letting us have an option on how this is done?

No vote here since that option is not available.

It shouldn't be "one or the other." A system of privileges could be used so that I could decide if / when I want people to see my stuff. However instanced building would detract from the feel of a living breathing world that you are trying to create

I highly suspect this is going to end up like the friend list question. None of the options are good enough. We want both. *shrug*

I like the idea of being able to see other people's creations and let others see mine during construction. Inspiration, inspiration, inspiration. However, being able to remove someone from your plot of land with a simple /slash command would be invaluable. Or posting a sign somewhere near the plot entrance stating, "Work in Progress" or "All Done, come in and take a look" or maybe even "Open House, come help me build" for those communal builders out there. Maybe have the owner be able to select the items available for use in communal construction for those 'Barn Raising' days.

Depends really. If people can mess with what I'm doing then no I want it private. If nobody can come along and start destroying what I'm building then it's fine if it's public. And by destroying I'm not just talking about removing I'm also talking about them adding things that are completely against what I'm trying to do.

When I'm building something I have a vision of how I want it to turn out in my head (not really good at drawing). And anybody that can mess with that is just making me not want to do anything at all. It's why when I try to build anything in Minecraft I do it only in SSP or Creative.

Some people just want the world to burn and will destroy other peoples creations to get a rise out of someone. That is not how I want to play.

As a social player, I want the option to show my builds to everyone, a select few, or no one. I also do not want the process to be shown unless I allow it. Face it, some artists do better when not being obvserved.

Several have mentioned the money factor, and I have to agree. If I decide to build something for sale, I certainly do not wish people to see the process. The finished product, yes. Process, no.

If our personal builds are destructable by others then I want the option to lock them to viewable only by those I allow.

I voted to keep building private until the builder finishes the project, just because, I can foresee a vast landscape filled with partial completed projects because the builder lost interest and moved on to some other aspect of the game. So what we would end up with is a field of "ruins" with various spots of ongoing active building. I would rather not see or have to navigate through abandoned projects, interesting though some might be.
