Has Anybody Here Seen The Shadiest Swashbuckler?

I had 2 million PP because I am not a plat farmer. After purchasing 20 nobles in an attempt to try and see her inventory I have come to see in this forum that I need TENS OF MILLIONS. not 2 million.

so..... I try to sell my Nobels back and the price is cut by over 10K per nobel.

I LOST 200K platinum and I am FAR from happy about it.

Can I petition to get it back?
NO because the sub category drop down in the petition page is broken.

Stupid un obtainable stuff like this just separates the UBER elite players from the rest of us.

Just remove this feature from the game. It makes us all sick.

Roshen, the problem as I see it is that... this was an awesome idea that everyone loved as soon as they heard about it... We were all excited to see what the details were. But then SoE took this awesome idea and turned it into a horrific shakedown for every ounce of spare plat available in the game.

As I stated in a different post, I have no problem at all with the items being marked up over the player market in order to protect the player market itself. In that post I was talking about a 50-70% increase over the player market being reasonable. I would even go so far as to suggest that a doubling of the "player market" price may be acceptable (ie... 2mpp item in the player market is sold for 4mpp on Marcia).

900% increases (CoS) are just blatant shakedowns. Putting a bind affinity item up for 9.3mpp is... well, I know there are some toons that will argue for it, but I find it to be very insulting to the playerbase to charge that much for that item.

I'm open to receiving evidence that suggests those are fair prices. I would even accept anecdotal evidence that these prices may fair (because I know someone is going to present their anecdotal evidence as fact anyways).

If you feel the prices aren't fair, don't purchase those items from this vendor.

We'll have better data on which items sell at these prices and which don't as Marcia rotates through her inventory throughout the coming weeks.

I expect data to be skewed to sales on Firestorm Cape (and Summon Bandages or Nexus Gate items) with little to no movement on the others. Players will save their platinum for unlimited click items first. In addition, a few months of data won't account for other variables such as long term inflation (2 year trend).

In terms of psychology, players will be "happier" with a price decrease than a price increase further down the road. So a knee-jerk price decrease now (spoiling the customer) and a subsequent "flooding of the market" will merely prompt a price increase - entailing more complaints (from the spoiled customer) than you are receiving now.

An immediate price decrease, however, can work with NO TRADE flag tacked onto all of her items.

@Roshen - Was excited about this, the concept was awesome. But I think you guys definately missed the mark on this sadly.

It feels like a plot to clear up PP on the Servers influencing players to Purchase 'Kronos' to gain more plat... could be wrong ;).

"Everyone" is a big word to use. I hate this. Most of these items have value solely due to the fact that they no longer drop. For those of us who acquired said items the old fashioned way (we looted them after killing the mob), this takes away some of what makes our character and experience special. All to appease people that want to play for free (krono buyers).

This has the be one of the most entitled posts I have seen. Unlike Guise of the Ancient Gods, this was a freebie. People didn't pay $50 for the right to GM event items. Actually, we have no right to these items whatsoever. Be grateful.

So we can keep this conversation moving in a constructive way, what about this idea was exciting to you, and what about it makes you feel like it's missed the mark?

Thanks Roshen - The concept is awesome (obtaining old no-longer dropped items), I've been playing since 99 and didn't obtain some of these... I feel just the prices are overwhelming and it's leaned toward the purchase of Krono(s). Either turning these into a quest (that's hard that grants a 'Ticket', like that of the 'Golden Ticket' concept to goes towards the purchase of these, or lowering the prices would be best.) Just my opinions and appreciate the response sir.
    (EDIT)
    @Roshen - Another Idea
OR better yet making them drop in the Original Zone(s) as Super-Rare Items... that would make people visit the zones... we all know they are sitting dormant unfortunately.

Having moved to FV a few years back I can't remember how much of the stuff from Prexus was no-drop, but I can say for the 3.3ish million I'd spend on a 10 ac 7 str ring I can buy a crapload of raid gear and level a toon up to wear it in no time. Throw some good stuff on her, make it no-drop, and watch the plat levels drop.
Take a trip to Vegas and talk to Rick of Pawn star fame and ask him what people spend money on, cool stuff, or garbage.
  11. Stumphobbler Elder

To be honest the only thing I don't like, is that this stunt by SOE ends up setting the price of what these items are worth as opposed to players setting the price. That takes control away from the players of EQ from setting the prices and the prices becoming mandated by SOE.

Regardless, it makes little difference to me since I wouldn't pay the price for the item regardless if it's an npc or player. Not that I don't think they are not worth it, I have no doubt quite a few are, but it's a "collectors" thing.

In my opinion, get rid of this npc. The Items that are no longer found in the game are UNIQUE!
Its an ancient artifact and should be kept as such.

I'll give you that. "Everyone" was far too encompassing, so in that vein I apologize to "everyone." The majority of the posts I was reading seemed to support the concept of what SoE was doing, but, from what I could tell... a seeming majority didn't care much for some very important possibilities. From what I could tell, it "seemed" to me that a majority of the vocal player base was in support of the concept... if not the implementation. Better?

In my opinion, I think the items should be NO DROP. I also think that the prices should be brought down to double the market value.

That's silly. I don't have to be grateful because someone is selling an item 900% above it's current value. You are entitled to be grateful for being gouged. I choose to not be. We are all entitled to share our opinions on these forums... notwithstanding my previous apology for erroneously speaking for literally everyone. It is in my best interest to seek what I believe to be the best implementation of this feature that is possible. I would encourage you to both desire and endeavor to do the same.

    ==========

@Roshen. My apologies to you in particular if my approach seemed too non-constructive. That was not my intent.

To be clear, I believe the items should be NO DROP so that they do not cause an influx of tradable rare items. I also believe that the items are overpriced. I understand that it is my right to not purchase anything, but what I would prefer to do is, instead of shunning what I think may turn into a cool service, find a way to make it palatable.
  13. Buds Augur

The problem with this is simple. The items that she is trying to sell so far are garbage. To make this work she needs to sell GOOD items. There are probably a dozen items that could take billions of plat out of the game, no problem. Earring of living slime, oakwynd (sp), firestorm Cape, BFG, several more. Just don't waste time with a one charge bind earring for millions. Go big or go home.
  14. Torriadore Elder

This was not intended to be a handout.
  15. Buds Augur

Handout?? No one is looking for that, just items worth buying. Charge 50 million plat or more for the first few. But no one is buying the current stuff, that would be rotting in the bazaar.

The chance at getting some of the artifact items: Exciting
10 million plat price tags & forcing noble use (since it was not received positively in it's own thread): missing the mark

It depends on what the intent is, however.

The ring... that's a tad off. The locket of escape, same deal. Unless the intent is to have them take up bank space, with a minimum price tag = that of the shady swashbuckler price.

There are "cool" items that were archived, yet some just don't seem to have made their way here. Adding the "mundane" items, doesn't really add much to the game but it does take away from the collectors. I'm curious if anyone bought that ring off the merchant.

That isn't everything.. nor is it meant to be. I'm 100% sure that Random_Player_005 wants some item, just because it no longer drops or they had one back in the day, etc...

There are plenty of "trophy" items people still hunt after. Like how I'd jump on the ToFS event shield. This is just a list to show items.... that would have a broader demographic.

If the intent is to remove plat from the game, lowering the cost of expendable ones (like the Locket) and making them more frequent, adds in an increased sink. They all have various levels of desire. Activated clickies are generally the highest, with utility of the item increasing desirability.

Just because an item no longer drops, only targets a small demographic of players... and generally... those players aren't too happy about the items being added to the game again.

First the thread starts with crazy speculation that then evolves into the normal "Sony sucks BS" and still people are ridiculously confused. Many long term players have spent time and platinum to acquire rare items. If it so happens that newer players want these items then they need to offer a substantial amount of platinum to acquire them. This vendor takes it to a higher level in that if some rare items pop on the vendor, people will have to pay significantly more than they would have to pay previously to other players.

This is just a way to remove some platinum from the game. No one is FORCED to buy anything. Of course in the normal troll fashion, people jump on the boards crying they can't find what they hoped would be there for some ridiculously low price vs. the people who thought every item would be there and lower the value of their rare items (which they had no plans to sell anyway). Take a breath, grow up and realize it is just a different facet to the game where some people who have ridiculous amounts of platinum may, for some reason, part with it to get an item they can not find.

It is NOT changing game play, it is NOT affecting leveling, it is NOT doing anything but just providing an overly expensive way to obtain something rare.

I think the problem is people are converting to Nobles thinking that it is required to be able to "see" the items. And when they can't still see them, then they feel they've converted and wasted 10%.

If you are able to confirm (as Riou has) that you do not need Nobles on you to see the inventory then that would go some way towards people inadvertently buying nobles.
  20. ZenMaster formless, shapeless

There is quite a bit of hyperbole over prices. The critics only cite pre-nerf CoS or some item with limited charges or no utility. There are some VERY FAIR prices.

Earring of Living Slime - 95 Noble or 10.4 million platinum.

Mosscovered Twig - 65 nobles or 7.1 million platinum.

Blade of the Black Dragon Eye - 30 Nobles or 3.3 million platinum.

Quite frankly, if I were an owner of these items I would think these prices were too low.
