Tried to load up the game and it crashed right after I clicked "Play". Tried again, crashed again. Waited about 5 minutes, crashed again. Restarted the computer, crashed again. I don't want to totally reinstall the game if I don't have to so please leave any suggestions you may have.
This is happening to me too. It has only started happening since the patch today (12/19). I am using Steam (I did not validate files or anything) and it crashes at the same time as the OP.
Same here. Worked fine earlier today, Downloaded a patch tonight, crashes every time after clicking play on the launcher. Rebooted, Verified files, reinstalled game, reinstalled DirectX, reinstalled Graphics drivers, removed all unnecessary USB devices, cleaned up device manager, disabled AV. I'm running two video cards in SLI, so disabling SLI also did not fix. I have now tried playing the game dozens of times in and out of Steam and also by varying my UserOptions. This is very bad timing for the game to break, as I was planning on dropping some money on Friday. As it is, I can't even start the game without it instantly crashing. I was playing it earlier this evening, but it seemed to download something else at some point tonight that killed it.
ya ive been playing PS2 since beta NO PROBLEM AT ALL... then today i had to reset client for a new patch and it patched i hit play and crash and tryed everything changed bios settings i uninstalled the game deleted all registery and temp files of the game cleaned it all and reinstalled just for the same damn issue im hoping this gets fixed quick Problem Event Name:APPCRASH Application NamelanetSide2.exe Application Version:0.0.0.0 Application Timestamp:50d2424b Fault Module NamelanetSide2.exe Fault Module Version:0.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp:50d2424b Exception Code:c0000005 Exception Offset:016c820f OS Version:6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1 Locale ID:1033 Additional Information 1:0a9e Additional Information 2:0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Additional Information 3:0a9e Additional Information 4:0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789
Same thing happens to me, exact same conditions as well. Downloaded the small little 32,000kb patch around 8pm tonight, haven't been able to start the game since, launcher loads, i click play, goes to black screen with the mouse, cant move the mouse, then it crashes.
Maybe this will help. Having the exact same issue, with the exact same crash report; no joke; I compared the timestamps and versions; only 1 or 2 things differed like the Locale ID:
Same for me here. Have had no problems until today's patch - now crashes on load. I uninstalled Symantec Endpoint Protection and installed Microsoft Security Essentials and now i can launch the game. Despite the decent reviews this free AV solution receives, i think this is a terrible work and i would hope that the SOE PS2 devs are looking into the AV security crashes so that i can reinstall SEP again soon.
I am having this same issue. I was using the game through steam thinking that was the problem, so i uninstalled and used the regular client and it is giving me the same problem. I thought that Symantec Endpoint was the 'business' version of their AV software (not the free version)? I also have Symantec Endpoint installed, but whichever version I have is the professional version. When I get home again tonight I will try disabling it and see if PS2 will launch. Either way this is something that should be fixed. I had no problems playing the game before yesterdays EST evening patch.
