I gotta go with neither as I feel neither really fits within Norath (lore re-write or not).

Ninjas would look completely silly IMO and guns would clash with the High Magic setting (again, IMO).

    Guns - no.

Ninjas- If you mean a katana-wielding (duel?), cloth armor, stealth class, that can also throw ninja stars; then yes, I can live with that being a class.

Did you watch the part in the EQN panel where they introduced some of the Producers of the game, (mainly the part where the introduced Rosey. I could definitely see Pirates and Ninjas being in EQN. ;)

    100% Agreed

Norrath is such a beautiful world, please don't kill it with guns and ninja.

Lets get some Arquebus/Musket action for Rangers!

I guess this one should be discussed more deeply. Like I guess steam-power pistols will be somewhat ok in some cases but I don't really feel them to fit the Norrath. But talking about the 'ninja'-concept - why not. Some monk clans which are dedicated to some idea of perfection - would be good.

    Gnome siege cannons

The extent of guns should be Gnome siege cannons. That's how guns started in real life, hell the ottman used tree trunks for cannons. that's how they should be introduced in a pre-gunpowder lored game.

Completely okay with ninjas! They aren't far from something like assassins and such which we've seen before.

Guns on the other hand I'm not so sure about. Glocks, sniper rifles, and rocket launchers -- definitely not. Something more crude like a blunderbuss or explosive kegs etc. could work.

I'd like more information personally -- so I'd have to either go with case-to-case basis or just not at all for guns.

I will always choose a bow over a gun but I don't mind if someone else wants to use a Flintlock or a Blunderbuss. I think there is an opportunity for these weapons to fit in as long as they are not overpowered...

Without guns how can a Rogue ever be a Pirate?

    Guns? No way!

Ninjas? This is modern? Isn't the assassin from EQ2 a ninja? EQ2 had throwing stars and katanas. Ninjas, samurai, monks are perfectly fine. I would like to see some Asian/martial arts themed classes/weapons in the game. Slashing, piercing, crushing, throwing, and bow weapons are perfectly fine. Anything with a gun is not acceptable.

Guns and ninjas are not even remotely in the same category.

Computers? No way. Steampunk/magical robots made by gnome tinkering is ok.

"Modern" concepts such as guns etc. have no place in the Norath universe. With that said, Ninja's are anything but a modern concept, and could be pretty neat if done right. As far as lore goes, I immediately think of either Wood Elves, Erudites, or Vah Shir as the establishing race/s for such an order.

Agree with Poke, here is a spit ball idea we have never seen in EQ, how about instead of just a rife, Off-hand rang weapons witch could be a pistol. So a ranger could have a sword and pistol and still be a ranged class! I think guns could be eatable at that point.

This is fact. Until they get caught.

Wut? As in modern guns? Um no? In other settings that could be made to work. But that is too far drastic a change for an existing setting like EQ.. Even on a reboot.

Clock work steam powered designs built by gnomes or something, maybe. But even that may be stretching things a bit. EQ has always had a very high fantasy design. Not so much machines, engines, and industry. Another factor is that this takes place fairly early on in EQ's history.. This isn't a retcon in the future like EQ2.

    Ugh, no.

Last thing I want to see in Norath is a bunch of Nartuo fans completely ruining the Fantasy lore that Everquest is built on.

Geez, they already have introduced fireworks in other games, how long do we have to wait before some daft Gnome sticks a metal ball into one and invents a firearm...

    OMG Heeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllllllllllll Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would love to see some common based black powder weapons like guns and pistols. I think that would be awesome. It would fit for a high fantasy environment. I just hope if you are going to include it that you make a class that's like a rifleman or someone who wields dual pistols. That would be awesome!

Ninja's would fit perfectly. Why? Well the dragons in EQ1 taught the monks martial arts and that's how we wound up with monks. Why couldn't an evil dragon teach someone how to be an assassin, or someone from amongst the monks decide to deviate from what monks were taught, there is a fallout, and assassins using martial arts, I.E. ninja's come to be. That would be just totally awesome! I could see them right now, a poison based stealth class. So much fun!
