Yes, this is a DBG problem, but it is also an AFK'er problem. There isn't enough capacity right now to accommodate people going AFK for hours on end. If you aren't playing the game you need to log off so other people can play. So put your big girl panties on and suck it up buttercup.

No other game that I know of allows you to AFK for endless hours. WoW, Knights of the Old Republic, D&D Online, etc etc etc all have code to kick AFK'ers. You can claim some sort of entitlement but that entitlement has been denied by the AFK kick code they put on the server yesterday.

Banning boxers makes zero business sense. Given that every box pays for an account, to ban a boxer would mean you'd need to know that if you ban a guy with 6 boxes, you'd get 6 more players as a result. I don't find any way you can make that argument stick.

Would it make for a better experience for non-boxers? Undoubtedly. Will that difference be enough to make up for the income loss?

We also have seen the many servers which lose population over time (either short term like during summer, or longer term). The people left are the people boxing, since they can play without waiting for a group.

It's just not reasonable to say that people who pay a lot for the game in terms of subscription also be denied access until the server fails. That also isn't a recipe for success. People like to play when the server is new and fresh. Some play solo, some in groups, some box. It's all good as long as there is space for everyone.

Since we don't have space, people decide to blame each other instead of where the real issue resides -- too many people for the hardware supplied.
