GRR...! PvP Server Option for Firiona Vie

For those keeping score, the OP has 96 of.the first 206 replies on this thread. IMHO hard to think that the community wants PVP when one person has nearly half of all replies/comments on the thread.

The OP does not understand or accept that others may not have their same opinion. They repeat the same thing and then repeat "read the thread" as part of their 'Only my opinion is valid' screed.

I must be very bored today to continue to engage with the OP. It's an exercise in futility to think they might every allow that anyone has a different opinion. I need more will power to not engage.

A post is a single statement within a thread. There is an original post (which is what I think you're considering the only post) and reply posts. A thread is series of posts, usually by more than one poster, that comprise a form of conversation. However when the original poster repeatedly makes posts that reply to their own posts while ignoring any content posted by other posters, it's tantamount to talking to oneself.

Priest of Discord is one of the methods to put a character into PvP-mode in the game of Everquest. Or are you playing a completely different game? I was responding to one who was making the allegation there are no PvP-modes in EQ which is entirely incorrect. No matter if you or they don't like those methods, they exist.

There have always been more non-PvP servers with higher populations than even the highest population PvP server at that time or even at any time. There have always been more non-PvP servers than PvP servers so there were more servers to be able to be merged.

And, without quoting you again, I do not choose to play on an EQ PvP server and have zero interest in doing so as I have stated that many times. I am also 100% against a server I play on being converted to a PvP server since it would force me to play on a PvP server or quit. If I wanted to play PvP, I am well aware I have that choice and option and even know all the methods to engage PvP-mode for my character. My choice to not to play on a PvP server or enable PvP-mode on my characters does not negate or invalidate the fact I do not choose to play on a PvP server or enable PvP-mode on my characters. You have the same choices but refuse to acknowledge them or engage them as your choice for your characters.

Not to pick a nit, but... There are a dozen +/-1 of these PvP areas in the game, not counting the main Arena zone. Not all are in starting cities, and not all starting cities have one. S Qeynos, W Freeport, Cabilis, Paineel, Shar Vahl and Neriak all do, Crescent Reach does not.

I am counting a starting city as a single entity even if it has a more than one part (i.e. North/South Qeynos is 1 city). Thinking deeper on the nits. It might be easier to count the starting cities that don't have one. Kelethin doesn't. Crescent Reach wasn't one of the original cities but doesn't have one. I'm not sure if Felwithe, Erudin, or Rivervale have have one, but I know Halas does in addition to your own list. For all, it's generally near the Warrior GMs. But, that doesn't negate their existence either or that they are accessible to all and do enable a PvP-mode.

Is there still an arena in Shadowhaven? I remember, back in the days when your stuff was left on your corpse and a corpse would stay for a period of time as long as you didn't take a rez that could be extended by logging off, sometimes a person would have a corpse made in the arena with a temporary item they wanted to keep, looting everything except that item, so they would have it when they returned.

I don't recall there ever being an arena area in Shadowhaven. In my mind, that zone stands out for all the false starts they had when trying to launch the casino feature. I also don't recall there ever being one in Halas. Lore describes the area there with the warrior's guild as the "Pit of Doom", but that doesn't mean PvP specifically, I don't think. Other zones you mentioned are a definite no, e.g. Felwithe, Erudin, Rivervale, also Ak'Anon is a no. As I said before, I was picking a nit; you are right to point out that there are a number of these areas which are spread all over the old world, and all in relatively easy-to-access locations. Anyone who is serious about trying out PvP can certainly find them.

You are probably thinking of the old arena in the Bazaar 1.0 before the revamp.

Halas one is there. I even got the PvP message while picking up a E-day glowy there yesterday.

Just need to remember with /dual you can almost PvP anywhere. I think it is only PoK and Nexus you can't.

I can't believe you are so completely out of touch with what the vast majority want out of Everquest. And then you act offended when folks disagree with you.

No the issue was most folks don't want it at all.

Ultima online had non consensual pvp. Then they doubled the size of the world by making a duplicate non PVP side. Almost every player went there. Next to no one wanted PVP. Most players in games like EQ do not want PVP.

Go play a PVP game that isn't what the vast majority of us still playing EQ want. If it was we would have moved on.

Its a complete package. NOTHING says a game needs to have a thriving PVP mode except PVPers who don't want to fight ONLY others interested in PVP. THey want to be able to attack others who are uninterested in PVP.

The problem for "some" PvPrs is that this mechanic only makes people who want to PVP able to be attacked. They want victims to attack not just other hard core PVPers.
