That's Mon-el and that's a pretty close to comic book accurate version of his costume.

Did your area ever start showing the CW shows?

He's back? Or is this the "Legion of Super-Heroes" version?
Yeah, finally found where they stuck, on a new subscription Sky-TV channel (not paying $54.81 a month just to watch maybe four or five shows, and that's if that channel is covered by that plan in the first place)

Sorry for the change in your TV watching ability.

He is back but with a whole new life. Since you cant see the show I might as well tell you the basics of it.

The light in space he came across last season was a wormhole that sent him to the 31st century, after many years of trying to get back to the 21st century he gave up and eventually got married. He and his wife were founding members the Legion of Superheroes (which was inspired by Supergirl not Superman ). While on a mission to save a planet the Legion's ship was knocked into another wormhole that sent them thousands of years back in time and ended up buried under what would become National City (they were in cryo sleep), centuries later Supergirl finds it and drama ensues.

Those photos are from an upcoming episode and that will be the first time he wears the costume.

Wow! So they have completely re-written the history of the Legionnaires?
What about Saturn Girl and Electro Lad and whatshisface, the original founders? o_O

I don't know about the complete history but yeah they made changes.

On the show there are only 3 members of the Legion present on their ship, I believe some dialog suggests that there are more members in 31st century. The 3 are Mon-el, his wife Saturn Girl and Brainiac 5.
  7. DarkVisor 15000 Post Club

Don't remember Mon-el ever being involved with Saturn Girl

Of course you don't. This the TV show not the comics.

TV/movies may use the subject material of the comics but they are not the same thing. They live in completely different realities/continuities and create their own histories.

So they can do whatever they want, screw the fans, butt we are talking about DC here (which stands for "Discontinuous Crap")

But, but Wonder Woman? Shazam? Background music in BvS?

To answer your question. Yes they can, it's their property, they can do with it as they will. And they are not screwing the fans, they are just doing what they always do.

This is a thing that puzzles me with fans. In DC alone, how many Earths are there? How many versions of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, etc. have there been? How many Elseworlds have been written? How many one shots stories have been told? How many times have they retconed most of their characters histories?

Comic books change all the time, just look at what DC has done in the last 7 years, Flashpoint, New52, Convergence and now Rebirth. And then there is all the Crisis storylines they had done in the last century, to do reboots. And it's not just DC, Marvel has done the same thing.

So if the comics wont even keep to one thing, why do people think TV and movies (both live action and cartoons) should? And even if they did what history should they use?

As to the subject of the Legion on Supergirl, they created a history that fit inline with the show, the original history didn't work for their purposes. And before you say well then don't use them if you can't use the known history. If they did that we would never see any other DC character in any of the shows or movies. Do you really want that, just the main character and nothing else?
  12. DarkVisor 15000 Post Club

You... basically just reinforced what had said

Fairly sure Marvel has only reset everything once (maybe twice), DC keeps screwing with their own property so much and so often they reset on a regular basis

Considering how much history there is to DC, you would imagine at least one writer would have read some of it and incorporated it their script, butt that is the reason why they had to reboot (over and over again) the entire DC universe: new writers coming up wanting to do their own thing, ignoring what has been established already (Supergirl's vulnerability to 'natural' things, like getting hit by a tree branch or a rock! or was that the 'alternate' Supergirl, that became Powergirl?)

Butt hay, who cares about the fans and longtime readers who want to see their comic favourites (other than damn Blattman) on the small or large screen, let's just make up an entire new history for them, blend in some history from other characters, and market it for people who have no idea who any of the characters were
No, you are completely correct Ankh, let's do it that way

Yeah, space aliens go home, humans are quite capable of killing each other thank you kindly, they have been doing it for thousands of years after all
  15. DarkVisor 15000 Post Club

Un-holy Yak vomit soup!! They are having Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor? o_O
This just confirms that they are actively out to destroy the show (Cryer previously played Lex' nephew Lenny in Superman IV)
