yes that would be an active controller but u can be sure that devs have no intention to put that much time into reworking all of that

    PS: u forgot Quantum.

wait a second, i thought PFTT and weapon only were considered "niche playstyles".
i am not sure if it is good to make them accessible for everyone by those stats.
as you know, the revamp was made with a thought on ppl not knowing AM's.
should it NOT stay simplyfied for the sake of ALL ppl? i mean, this is complicating the game.
the stats are a must have if you plan on doing one of these styles and not realy a choice...
    my oppinion is following:

i think the game should be left without those new power/weapon stats.

Would be much easier to balance if people weren't so bent on trying to keep PFtT a thing.

While I would hate to make weapons only or PftT something you can't use earlier in the game, would it be possible to just tie what these two stats do to something else? So after you spend so many so one way, you've indicated that you are going for one or the other.

So something like 100sp in precision makes you weapon specialized.
And 100 spent between power and might locks you to PftT.
But if you've spent 50 in the other before you reach 100, you are still hybrid build.

Of course, these are just numbers for example and can be fine tuned.

Would be done already if they d just removed the excessive AM-dmg and made our stats matter :)

Agreed, sadly. Although I do like all the tanks having a "no blocking" option, that change would be welcome to stay lol.

I thought that was the point in what we was doing the first place. Is it not common sense for the type of playstyle you want for you to be spec in that specialised way??

Its like people are afraid to research things.

LOL, You never fail to amuse me with your short selective memory.
I guess you forgot the main reason why AM's were so hated in the first place.

I'm guessing since you quit DCUO last week you forgot. I'll refresh your memory.

AM's = 4 or 5 powers within every powerset is the only choice..( use these powers or get kicked )

90% of the powersets powers = useless
    Movement powers = useless
    iconic powers = useless
Weapons = useless ( except to regen power in support role or earth/ sorcery power )

Fixing this pile of garbage while trying not to alienate the current player base that likes playing with AM's ( PftT ) is the goal here. It looks like the DEVs are listening to more than a couple players this time around. I for one think this is a huge step in the right direction in balancing out the three play styles.

Now say all of that again without the snark and shade thrown. Otherwise I can't take you seriously.

Which is exactly the problem since that player base should've never existed lol WM and AM era were mistakes that should've been corrected a long time ago. They can barely balance Hybrid playstyles, let alone weapon only and pftt. And from their definition of viable, there's still going to be the situation of players getting kicked if they try to either extreme of the playstyle spectrum because the damage loss is noticeable for no benefit. This update would've been over if we didn't have unnecessary factors to take into consideration among other factors that you listed.

Due to needing "balance" they kind of have to push PFFT (to a degree) otherwise it literally screws the combo powersets (and possibly munitions as well).

These powersets were designed to be able to get by without using your weapon so to make hybrid be the only "true" option just lessens those power sets to a degree (did anyone actually have fun with Celestial when WM came in and made it so that using your combos were hindering you).

This I agree with, combo powers are easier to balance PFtT wise then burst powers are unfortunately because of how they operate. They consume far less power (well, they DID, before they made combo inputs requirepower usage) so playing from the tray was easier with them even if the game wasn't balanced around doing it.

The problem with PFtT is hybrid will always beat it because of weapon taps. They do a large portion of total damage in comparison to live server and it's not true "play from the tray" if you're mixing in weapon taps.

This update would have never happened if players did not want the rest of the powers & other play styles to be viable and stats were not proven to be broken by one or two players.
  14. HoiiowDreamz Dedicated Player

"want the rest of the powers & other play styles to be viable" -> That's what happens when you break the game. When the only way to play this game that's even core to equipment in the fact that every person is FORCED to have a weapon and that you can't do satisfactory damage without hitting an ability for the damage modifier, becomes an exceedingly weak playstyle to some mechanic you introduced, you broke the foundation of the game. And when you break the foundation, and do it half-*** by not properly testing each powerset and not patching exploits as soon as they're found, things get out of hand like they are. All three playstyles can't be balanced but Spytle couldn't see that. It's only now that people are starting to see that it's impossible and that hybrid will always be the best way to play by a long shot. Any attempt to buff anything besides that is going to lead to exploits or simplified gameplay. But we're taking the long route on accepting that reality. Even for the new passive that'll allow for PftT, I'm already discussing how to abuse it for support roles with others especially if it gets buffed like how others are trying to get it. Everything in this game is linked and a buff or nerf in one place is always going to affect something else you didn't intend.

When clipping and jump canceling gets addressed then balance will come. That is the only reason why hybrid play beats the others. It's only a matter of time before this is truly addressed.

People don't realize everyone has different definitions of the word "viable." Right now on live you can argue that electric and nature are still viable dps powers because you can complete content with them. That obviously does not mean they're good dps or anywhere near balanced with the other powers.

What the devs deem as viable and what us as players deem as viable are two different things, very different. true balance among the three playstyles will never be achieved.

Thank you for the feedback. We will review your thoughts on both concepts (PoT and playstyle choice) as we continue to work on the revamp.
