Where do people stand on "Infantryside".

    The game seems to be shifting pretty heavily towards an infantry focus in overall play style, which inst necessarily a bad thing but as of late it seems like this shift is starting to take a very bad turn...

    Rocket primary QQ, and recent PTS notes showing Tank primary nerfs and Rocket launcher nerfs, mainly towards infantry lethality are what I see as evidence of this on top of the very very infantry dominant play style based in the map design of Hossin, and quite frankly I dont even see the need for any more blanket nerfs in this game at all.... just seems lazy.

    I was cool with the idea of infantryside at first but now it seems like its going to far, anyone else feel the same?

    Yeah and it looks like the upcoming resource revamp will mean even less vehicles and MAXes around.

    I like combined arms but sometimes it just feels like there's too many vehicle farmers in a hex.

    What is really lazy are infantry base designs where infantry has to run the gauntlet of vehicle spam to get from point to point.

    How are they not using their brain? They were smart enough to kill the guy on the other end of the tank or rocket... Not like they just WIN by using them.... Tanks can still be c4'd and shot with rockets, people can still JUMP when rockets are shot towards them instead of just sit their and take it...

    simple, really: most players play infantry. most ps4 players will play the game for the infantry experience. the ingame shop mostly offers weapons/cosmetics for infantry which make a huge fraction of sales

    this trend does not only affect PS2, it is also apparent in the Battlefield series: the newest installment Hardline forgoes most vehicle types (like heavy armor) and hugely expands the infantry base game. sad really, because i actually like balanced combined-arms games like PS2 or BF4

    Infantry should be the be-all end-all that drives the game where it matters most, however, vehicles are currently useless outside of convenience purposes. The first thing that needs to change to improve the overall state of things is the base design. Bases should be centered around large, yet restricted interiors where vehicles can't reach, while vehicles should completely dominate open fields (which also need to be more common)

    Imo they also should be made rarer and thus allow for them to be made stronger , but with the current spamability and base design it wouldn't be prudent to do that atm ...

    Be nice if they were also vehicle " tasks " ... Ie: I hope when they finish the Reward revamp any " resource transport " vehicle has ZERO weapons on it .. Would open the way for it needing to be escorted and protected by other vehicles ..

    I have no problem with vehicles (Or a moderate amount of them, anyways), but why NERF the rocket launchers again? Don't they deal such a small amount of damage right now? Because even with max Flak armor on, you shouldn't be able to survive a plasma round to the face.

    Infantry=AMS

    Weak AMS = Weak Infantry

    The nerfing of vehicles and/or buffing of infantry AV was predestination. Should have gone with the PS1 AMS/CE instead.

    Can you guys stop talking about CE? You are just reminding me that the devs have somehow utterly failed at both Vehicle gameplay and Combat engineering compared to Planetside 1.

    And now I'm yet again angry that a game that's a decade old managed to do everything other than shooting mechanics better. :confused:

    Like the beta testers / vets were saying... "If you let everyone do everything at any time.... then everything will have to be watered down to nothing"

    And lo and behold guess what we get? Call of Battleside 2

    The ANT for PS2 is just going to be a Module for the Sunderer and Harasser so i hear. So it'll have 2 guns or 1 gun accordingly, unfortunately.

    God forbid they make a new vehicle. Modular vehicles make things kind of bland/boring.

    This game shouldn't be about infantry alone. It should be combined arms. Go play COD for infantryside.

    All I will add is this: the sole reason I've been a fan and subscriber to both Planetside titles is the huge battles.

    Be it Infantry, vehicles, aircraft.....whatever.

    The moment they remove any of that, or nerf it to the point any of them are no longer fun to play, I'll likely lose interest in the game.

    Not complaining, requesting, or whining, just stating my point of view.

    They should also take into consideration not just the time invested by free players who put in countless hours in order to unlock all those fancy vehicle weapons and abilities, but also the paying players who have dropped money into the game in order to purchase those same weapons.

    Every time they nerf a weapon that a lot of people use or put money/time into getting they lose active players. It's that simple.

    Combined arms is fun. I always make it a point to operate a few vehicles when I log in. However, I prefer infantry.

    I think people prefer infantry because its easier, the view is nicer, and also because it is crucial to the team that there be a bunch of infantry.

    It's pretty bad right now to be honest.

    1. HEAT splash damage is pretty pathetic against regular infantry and infantry can easily counter that splash with Flak armor. Unfortunately since infantry cannot be bothered to use the hard counters available SOE is planning on nerfing HEAT splash again in the future.

    2. Infantry have access to AV weapons which have ranges greater than what the infantry/Max normally render at. This means that infantry can farm vehicles while being in an invisible/invincible state which makes for absolutely crap gameplay.

    3. From long ranges tanks get dominated from long range non rendering infantry AV, from medium ranges tanks get spammed by the 1.5 second fire and forget lock on rockets, and from close range tanks get instagibbed by C4 which is currently the weapon which kills them most.

    4. Esamir the once epic continent for tanks and the one centered around tanking was changed to Wallamir the base heavy continent with walls and rocks that often lock vehicles out of the equation almost entirely.

    5. Horrible uncalled for nerfs like the Saron AI nerf, Vulcan nerf, Marauder nerf, and other splash damage nerfs leaves the tanking realm more boring and largely in a state of Halberdside 2.

    6. All these new bases the developers create take away from the space between bases, which take away from the most epic part of the game which are the epic combined fights which occur between bases.

    7. Shorter respawn times for infantry mean that killing them to try to help your team is less important

    8. Redeploy side 2 to cater to the, I want it now!, crowds means people can often chose not to use vehicles at all which makes the game less interesting and results in less massive tank battles between bases.

    Ya infantryside is a major problem in Planetside 2, but how can you be surprised when the developers themselves don't make use of the vehicles in their game....
