I think we all want this in GU10. And it's small change

Technically both are bad design. Certain things should have been tested more and thought about a lot more before being implemented (OHK shotguns that have more then 1 round in the magazine...).

As for versatility, right now LAs have access to moderate short-medium range weapons, CQC weapons, and CQC-short range weapons. They are incredibly effective with all of the above.

Having two primaries means they can take their versatility to a whole new level. Carbine + shotgun, suddenly all your limitations on range and effectiveness go away, and you are the ultimate weapon on the battlefield who's only fear is sniper rifles. What you can't directly engage, you can probably avoid.

Having one primary limits us to a single choice of weapon at a time, a single play style or set of strategies. Having two primaries literally opens to the door to everything LA could potentially do being possible with a single lifespan.

So another assault class also should get something with offensive in mind, not supportive. LA is an assault class, it shouldn't have supportive tool. Ability LA's all ready have.
Only way to go about LA tool is practically a thumper or something like that, to help it in close quarters situations, but not make them overpowered. Increasing movement potential or reducing enemy movement potential, helping breaching inside somewhere, making flanking easier or helping them be more effective while flanking, which would be bit too much.

You really think we need more CQC toys? Look I'm all for the old school spec-ops thing, but Light Assault is assaultive enough, and the HA RL is a support tool. It's aggressive, but then again so are Mana-Turrets. By itself a lone HA is hard pressed to kill anything meaningful and works better in pairs or groups when using their RLs.

And while the DEVs might be hot for a solo specialist class, I personally am not. I'd rather not be told to suit up in HA or what not simply because SLs don't recognize the value of attacking from an elevated position.
