I don't think there are many hackers...

Currently it's not anyone's job to prove that someone is hacking, thats obvious, because they are still here.

But in the post that I quoted, you said you wanted proof.
Could you make up your mind before you post invalid arguments that won't take you anywhere?
  2. Jourmand1r

Are you really calling my argument invalid because no one wants to hear this incessant whining?

Its getting old listening to people say "OMG IM TIRED OF HACKERS GOING 6000-3" but then they don't report the player and they don't remember his name. They have no proof that anyone was even hacking.

I wish SoE would start deleting these threads or at least make a stickied post about hacking because the General discussion threads that people are using for constructive feedback are getting pushed down by these baby threads.
  3. Vachek

The problem is i've already seen a few blatant obvious hackers in the short time i've had to play since release. It stands to reason there are just as many or more "good" hackers that are better at hiding it.

Why 'should' they expect a playable version of the game? I mean, look, I understand they want one and it might even have been smarter for the devs to give them one, but there is no law or principle which states that the devs MUST make a game that mid-tier computers can run well. Its up to them whether they want their game to be accessible to all ranges of hardware or only the higher tier - choosing the latter option is not defying any expectation or requirement. Those people with mid-tier computers might WANT the game to run well for them, but they have no right to EXPECT it to if the devs choose to make the requirements higher.

And no, I wouldn't buy a 1000 dollar computer for anyone who asks. They can buy it themselves, just like I did. If they can't afford it, then they can't play the game. That's a shame, but as the other poster said, it's not a basic human right to play PS2. As long as enough people have those 1000 dollar computers (which they do, I would think), then the games population will not be cripplingly effected by this issue.

Hackers should be banned before they even start the client, they have not, so anyone is entitled to make their opinion clear on that SOE has not done enough to prevent this issue.

If you dislike the content on these forums, then you are the one who has to leave, because your sole opinion does not outweigh any of the threads that has been created.

( Oh and a little foot-note, it's not Sony of Entertainment, so please stop making a fool of yourself and capitalize correctly. )

BTW, in case it's not generally known, there are weapons that can shoot through walls legitimately. Sort of. I have a Lasher, that I use in certain situations. It shoots out plasma orbs that explode when they hit a surface. The blast radius penetrates all nearby objects, including walls, boulders, around corners, etc. It doesn't do a lot of damage, it takes about 10 hits to kill someone, but you can't hide from it.
  7. G1n

Wut, all other threads are by whiny kids complaining at something because they got killed, so no thanks.
  8. CheeseN!P

I've run into 2 or 3 yesterday, and that was my first real run in with them. It was not fun and kinda sad I just gave up that base to go else where because I didn't wanna put up with it.

I don't see how you can lack so much brainpower to compare a singleplayer game to a MMO. Singleplayer games always looked better. Crysis doesn't ever render 300 players* at once.BF3 is limited by map size, Planetside2 is not. No other shooter, except Planetside does that. Why do you think most FPS games are limited to like 24/32 players per match? It's because they can't handle more, that's why. That's why they're prettier.

And for the massive requirements - occasionally we need a game to actually advance PCs. You can still play Planetside 2 on lowest settings, and it looks like crap when you're not fighting, but next year, when the new xbox comes out, and the new game generation begins, this game will still need to look good. I know there are people who can't play the game nice on supermaxhighextra uber settings, but why should the game run nicely on highest settings on most PCs? It shouldn't. It still runs quite nice on toasters on low. My $500 PC that I bought last year can handle the game on medium@ 1440x900, I don't complain. That is not expensive, and if your machine is getting dated, you should think of getting a new one, not cry that somebody doesn't care about you and your windows98.

*When I say players, I mean players. Not characters. All games with recurring characters have their ways of optimizing the way characters load, so if you have 300 goblins that are all the same, only one goblin is loaded, for example. In this game, every character is different and needs something unique about them to be loaded. This is why the game is heavy.
  10. Hibbe

Oh, but without proper optimization they don't get nearly the same target consumers and are not maxing their profit, it could potentially be illegal considering you are forced to make as much money as possible.
Oh yes, everyone can afford a 1000 dollar computer, let's act like it isn't a third of an average monthly paycheck pre-tax.
I don't understand what social classes are, but that should not be a problem for anyone, ever.
and who cares, you would just be a cheater either way, why should I care about others, I am the best, I am victorious and I can have as much fun as I want without having to think about anyone else. Because **** socialism and **** equality.

No wonder consoles are preferred for devs when 80% of the PC market are spoiled D-bags.
  11. G1n

yeah some walls can be shot through legitimately, but the aimbot around knows through which walls it can work and only fires if the target is behind such wall.

The confusion exists because most player are unaware of this, that there are walls through which bullets can go through.
  12. UrMom306

I haven't seen any obvious hackers, there are so many players in the game, when I die I spawn and encounter tons of other players, so the way I look at it...what I don't know won't hurt me.

I'm not saying everyone can afford it, nor am I saying that I'm better than people who can't or choose to spend their money in other ways. I AM saying that there is nothing wrong with devs choosing to make a game not everyone can run. That is THEIR decision an there is no law or principle or governing body telling them they have some obligation to make their game accessible to every computer on the planet.

Video games are a LUXURY item. If you can't afford to buy a good gaming rig, that sucks and is a shame. But stop making it sound like it's some kind of social rights issue. Playing a video game is not a right, society is not falling apart because some people can play high-end computer games and other people can't. It has nothing to do with equality. It's the same as the way some people have expensive cars and others don't. I drive a base-model Hyundai Accent. I don't look at my neighbor with his Mustang GT and go scream at Ford because they make a product I can't afford to use. It is Ford's right to create high-end vehicles with better performance for people who can afford them.

Similarly, it is SOE or any other game company's right to produce a game with as high requirements as they like for the people who can afford them. It's not something you need to live, it is a luxury hobby item.

Anyway, building a good gaming rig is not that expensive. I spend about 300-400 dollars a year on my computer, keeping it up to spec. Most people spend at least that much on their hobbies, whether it be their car or music or DVDs or console games. I don't think it is wrong of me to be happy to see some return on investment in the form of games which benefit from my choice of where I put my disposable income.

Gotta say, yesterday was my first confirmed run in with an aim-botter on Connery. I think it was at the Palisade. Guy was hiding in a corner inside a building. Couldn't nade him and we kept sending guys in who just got head-shot after-headshot to kill him. He was using that Gamestop Battle Rifle to do it. Finally, someone got him and he either logged or disappeared and went to another fight as i didn't see him after that.

    He was reported.
  15. Hellkyte

I've seen a grand total of one hacker. He had some kind of damage hack and was one shoting us with a battle rifle. In another case I was pretty suspicious about getting shot down out of my mosquito with a rifle, but that could have been legit (just happened really fast) And while that was mildly frustrating, it made about as much difference on the fight as a single good LA.
  16. TheRagingGerbil

Think I have seen one aimbotter in all my time here. Been called a hacker on more than one occasion and I suck. LOL, makes an old guy feel good though. I agree with the OP, I don''t think it is as huge a problem as people are letting on. :/

Your assumption is incorrect. You want to play the game but your computer isn't good enough = you buy a better computer.

Planetside 2 may have set the bar quite high, but nobody has a right to expect anything since the game is free to play. Obviously, I am fine with that since my computer doesn't suck. I don't get your point though, since it is true that any game could be designed to scale down to any hardware given enough effort by the developers. Does the fact that nobody does this mean that all developers are lazy? Perhaps you think that PS2 devs could have made it scale down a bit further, but that strikes me as nothing more than a matter of opinion.

(And really, let's remember that nothing that does or does not get done during game development has anything to do with the developers being lazy).

I encountered 3 more HA guys who were amazingly accurate last night. From 100 meters / 300 feet, these 3 Heavy Assault guys (BR 4-8) were able to rapid-headshot me and 4 members of my squad over and over again in 3 different areas of the tech plant we were assaulting.

Spawn and Sunderer 1 - See HA in the way off distance, hit Q, start running to flank.. bam-bam-bam dead... next squadmate repots same, next and next. Respawn at Sunderer 2 - same thing but from a different HA.... same story at the 3rd Sunderer. We never were able to register hits on them, they was so far away.

Maybe these 3 just had mad skills, right? Doubtful... I have lost to very skilled players many times... but at that range I have never seen an HA be able to hit all headshots while using burst or full auto until last night, let alone 3 at the same tech plant.

I logged in disgust. I will be back tonight however. I hope it isn't worse.

I'm both a console and PC player. I am currently upgrading my PC so I can play this game smoother. That is my decision, and my money I'm spending. Someone shouldn't have to buy me new hardware because I didn't own it before this game came out. That's like saying "Oh hey I want to play Halo 4 but I can't afford an Xbox 360 to play it, I only have an Xbox Classic " Should the developers make the game compatible for lower hardware to run on? No, it holds them back. If you wan't to play the game, then get the equipment to do so. If they can't afford it because of bills, then they should save their money until they can purchase one if they want to play it that badly. You seem to have a communistic idea when it comes to this. Tell you what, I can't afford the upgrade at this moment, why don't you pay it for me like you suggested?
