So, does that mean I'll get to equip Sniper Rifles to my Engineer now?
  3. HadesR

If left as is then yup .. It's why it needing 2HSK on normal infantry is a good thing , any stronger and it would step on the BASR turf AND be able to 3HSK MAX's ( well 2 if close enough ) ..
  4. Campagne

Darn, I was really hoping that it would be an anti-vehicle rifle or something when the title. Last thing we need is another NS side-grade.

Especially if non-infiltrator classes can use them too.

I'd actually consider putting sniper rifles in other classes hands more fair than sniper rifles in an infiltrators hands.

Though I guess for a weapon that should dominate MAXes and light vehicles, sacrificing AI capability is fine too. Though as a primary weapon, this is more a weapon for when a terminal is conveniently nearby until a secondary worth using as a primary is introduced to the game. So basically... I can only see it being used for defending sunderers from AV MAXes, Harassers, and the odd AV turret. ...Should they render.

On a side note, I'd kill more VS if the NS-11a, 11c, 15m, Annihilator and Decimator got slight model tweaks to look like NS weapons. Compared to the Magnums, SMGs, Shotguns, and sniper rifles, the five mentioned are very much like blocks.

The hip fire accuracy seems surprisingly good for a heavy sniper rifle.
Still not versatile enough. How they expect us to take this weapon into close quarters, where MAXes live? From long range, MAX is only a threat to vehicles, and can be taken down with any infantry weapon, including normal sniper rifles.

AM Rifle feels like a tool that will only be used by some of the vehicle pilots in case an AV MAX pins his vehicle down to cover, in which case the pilot can jump out and snipe the MAX, then return to his vehicle.

This is literally the only use I see for it. Without changes, it's gonna fall down to the level of crossbow's explosive bolt usage.

    Go test it.

And EVERYTHING I'VE BEEN SAYING(about the AMSR) SINCE THE AMSR WAS ANNOUNCE WAS CORRECT.

It should be a infiltrator primary weapon.

    4x scope has sway?
  11. FateJH

Unless something else has been changed, no, it shouldn't. Everything above it, yes.

Edit: it's an interesting hole the developers have wormed their way into. They obviously want to restrict this weapon from certain classes but no specification currently exists to extend it only to the classes the want to have the weapon. Perhaps we should start suggesting new names for a weapon category? "Specialist Weapons?"

Well, currently, this gun does seem to have sway on its default scope. Not sure if a bug or a feature.

Otherwise, what Iridar has said above. Barring people squadding up on high terrain to rain (kinda very weak against anything that's not a flash, ESF or Valk) AV fire with no forewarning, I'm not seeing the gun used (and bought) widely in this state.

As for anti-MAX - what seems to be the intended niche - shots to kill are, IMHO, good, having it be on a bolt-action rifle with 4x as its minimum zoom is... not so much. I guess it all depends on how accessible or how niche the dev team wants this weapon to be, but, in case of a poor player such as myself, I would not be able to squeeze much use out of it in scenarios I'd want to support my team with anti-MAX fire (a biolab fight being the prime example).

it isnt entirely a side grade if it does damage to heavy armour , and as a side note it is good at its intended role , it will be an instabuy
  14. Kristan

It's so big. So long. So thick. So hard.

    Come on Devs, who's overcompensating?

It seems like the velocity and max damage are both a little low.

I don't know why infiltrators would want this it seems like a worthless weapon for them although as infiltrators they obviously want absolutely everything they can get their hands on and are really upset if they don't get major buffs every patch. I understand that.

If you are camped on a mountain why would you want a rifle that is less effective than any you already have. This is more of a weapon for someone camped near a sunderer to pull for a while then switch back to normal kit to fight. Consider it like something to add value to an AV mana turret loadout than as something to use as a main kit. Possibly you could use AI turret, tank mines and this as a max crash countering kit.
  16. Voross

Then they might as well remove the class completely since sniping is pretty much the only thing right now that isn't broken/weak. But I'm okay with everyone except heavies getting it, since it won't really be used on infantry. The blackhand does the same without sacrificing the primary weapon (at least for me).
  17. Demigan

Look at that damage... it's almost certain that it'll deal good damage against vehicles and MAX's, otherwise you can't justify any of that damage, chamber time and reload speed.
  18. Pikachu

If purpose =/= AI -> damage listed irrelevant
  19. breeje

you can use it against vehicles, max and esf

i tested it and it's not a sniper rifle for the infil, the engi can have it
but i will buy it for my engi to finish off vehicles
  20. Demigan

All damage is listed as raw AI damage. So I'm saying: Damage is completely and horribly under par to similar bolt-action anti-infantry sniper rifles (2 second bolt action!!!!!!), ergo the weapon is meant for something else than AI, which would be anti-Vehicle and/or MAX weaponry. Yes, damage listed is absolutely no indication of how much damage it will do against vehicles and/or MAX's, but it does show that it's purpose can only be that.
