[Suggestion] Dalton - the new AA and the ultimate gunship.

For those who've played with/against good Datlon gunners and pilots you'll understand. I've nothing against their skills and game play style but this whole being able to flip a lib upside down and shoot planes out of the mid air is nothing short of stupid.

It's an anti-tank gun, a lib shouldn't be able to sustain flight upside down. Nor on its side, it should slow down significantly and start to fall.

HOWEVER - increase their tail gun's bullet speeds and accuracy (via upgrades?) etc. That would make sense.

OR - Have the Dalton incapable of shooting once you pass a certain turn degree - perhaps implement both?

    Cheers

Only if ESFs can't reverse. Then we got a deal.

That's the only way to kill a competent pilot, it does not need a nerf.

I would think that ESF pilots would screm bloody murder if an A2A tailgun was outright better than thier precious rotaries.

No. If you don't want to get daltoned don't fly that close to the Liberator. It's the weakest vehicle in the game and it does not need more nerfs.

I've had the privelage of flying around one of Connery's best Dalton gunners once, for a few hours. Was awesome, it's truly amazing how powerful you feel flying around someone who can consitently blow ESFs out of the sky (Let alone how good they are taking out ground targets). I've also spent 100s of hours flying an ESF and dealing with these pro lib Daltons, in fact the reason I ended up flying Mystic around is because I hackusated him in text telling him I wanted to see his stream because he either had rainman like skills or was hacking - he had a stream and he was legit, no cheat tells I could see in his stream so sent him a friend request. Anyway my point is even though I'm way more biased toward the ESF, I still think it's fine. Yeah Connery has like 3 players who make the Dalton seem a wee bit OP in the air (but even then 3 competent ESFs can kill him, and two aces are going to beat him more often then not), but overall the balance seems fine.

Bottom line is if the Dalton were to be nerfed at A2A duty then Liberators would be basically totally unable to defend themselves. You're talking about a 2 man crew that needs hundreds of hours of experience to get that good and uses teamspeak, I think it's fine that you need an equally skilled an organized crew of ESFs to take them down - especially given how completely vulnerable liberators are to ground fire.

Good news is that a fix is in the works. Speak with Higby via ingame chat on Jaegerson for more information.

ESFs are supposed to take out libs, not the other way round

Have you ever actually gunned for a dalton lib? The dalton has a very slow travel speed and a very huge bullet drop. It takes tremendous skill to use it for AA successfully and consistently. The only way it is even remotely easier to use for AA is when a ESF is stupid enough to get close to the lib.

If you are an esf pilot and you are getting hit by a dalton then you are doing something wrong, the gunner is hacking, or is legitimately an incredible dalton gunner.

A lolpodder killed my battle flash this evening, I think they should probably get a nerf.

Libs shouldn't be able to kill a competent pilot
  14. gigastar

How about instead we execute all the purist lolpodders by firing squad?

I wouldn't mind a Dalton AA nerf if they'd make the tail gunner spot important, as it is being in the tail is pointless, mostly because they're lining up shots for the dalton gunner on the ESFs instead of letting you do the job you're supposed to be doing, lol.

    lib tail guns are garbo.

also, lol at roleplayers and players afraid of a challenge.
  17. Stride

There are two problems with the tail gun.

    1) It has very limited view of which a lib has to fly down to give the gun sight of higher altitude aircrafts. In most situations a smart ESF will always attack form a much higher altitude as it gives them an advantage.

    2) An ESF has a much larger firepower advantage in comparison to a walker. The walker is quite ****** really.

yeah sure, just nerf the liberator even more. no wait, make it completely useless by making the dalton an eight-shot-kill on infantry and 26-shot-kill on ESFs. ah you know what, just remove the liberator from the game and refund the certs/sc of everyone who invested in it

seriously, stop your crying! people like you ruined the liberator because they didnt want to travel with anti-air support and then wondered why they got blasted to bits. ESFs already eat liberators alive, so what's the point of making the latter even weaker? oh and DONT even start with "air escort for libs", that's bullcrap. if your server's faction is not skilled enough in the air, you'll wait for proper air escorts for ages.

second, the new ESF weapons will hit the live servers soon, makes flying the liberator even more dangerous
