    Just a reminder everybody!!!

The Gamewide Harvest Faire to be held on AB on the Isle of Mara on Sunday, September 10th, is almost here.

The Faire will begin at 2 pm PDT and continue until all Faire goers have been given a chance to attend.

We will have fireworks, petamorph wands, shapechange totems to enhance roleplay, Faire type food and beverages, raffles, and higher capacity backpacks and strongboxes, and more for free. For the raffles, make sure you register your characters name, you will be given a number from 1-? and hopefully one of our guides can RNG and call out the number, the winning number of each raffle will be noted and the character given that number will be given a book that can be used to claim the prize for that raffle. The raffles will be held at random times during the Faire, with a minimum of 5 raffles being held. The person you will need to see to register for the raffles will shout out every few minutes so that everybody can have a chance to register. Prior to each drawing, everybody will be given a last chance to register.

We are encouraging roleplay whether you are new to RP, have never tried RP, or are an RP aficionado, try it out, you may find that you enjoy it. We are also encouraging anybody and everybody, to sell wares from their backpacks to enhance the Faire atmosphere, it does not matter the level of your wares or whether they are crafted or loot drops.

We are welcoming every player from every server that either has a character on AB or a slot to create a character on AB or even make a new account to attend the Faire. This event is for all of us to gather, mingle, learn about one another, and show our love and support for our World of Norrath.

Please tell your friends, guildmates, and/or general chat on your server. Lets all come together and make this the biggest meet/greet for all of EQ2 and show that we care.

    Regards

Excuse me, Guides Kelliin & Norika?
It seems my logging of your two stories is incomplete, might we have the originals posted here please?

That would be wonderful to have them posted here, I missed a bit of the stories handing out raffles and taking a much needed 5 minute break.

    Here tis :)
Twinkle Bell and the magic pumpkin
Now not too long ago and not too far away lived a Fae named Twinkle Bell. Now all fae loved to grow things, flowers, trees, gardens filled with all kinds of vegetables. Now the fae kept their gardens hidden. Orcs if you did not know loved to raid the fae’s gardens and either squish or steal the vegetables.
It was harvest time and all the fae gathered together to hold a harvest celebration. Twinkle bell was very pleased this year as she had finally planted and grew pumpkins. One was to be a prize winner for sure but how to get it to Kelethin?
Twinkle worked out a spell that would make the pumpkin follow her like a puppy but unknown to her there was a side effect. Anyone or thing that touched the pumpkin while it was bespelled would become stuck tight until the spell was removed.
On the day of the celebration, early in the morning Twinkle struck out for her garden, she had her gnome tinkered music maker and her magic ear bugs, not real bugs mind but tiny bug shaped listening devices she could use in her ears.
Twinkle looked carefully around to make sure there were no Orcs peeking to catch her entering her garden. There it -was the most beautiful pumpkin of all time. Twinkle spoke her spell and it did its job very nicely. The pumpkin twitched and started to move. “Lovely” Twinkle cheered “Come on pumpkin lets be off” Twinkle put in her ear bugs and started her music. She danced, hopped and scampered towards Kelethin with the pumpkin dancing right behind her.
Now unbeknownst to Twinkle there were two Orcs watching and they were in awe of this magic pumpkin. “We needs this magic pumpkin, we can grows them and gets lots of gold” So carefully they crept towards Twinkle and her pumpkin. Reaching out a hand to grab hold the first orc found him stuck tight. No matter how he pulled he could not get away, the second orc tried to help but found him also stuck.
Twinkle was listening to her music and did not notice the Orcs following her. A ways down the path a skeleton somehow become stuck to the second orc so now there were two Orcs and one skeleton following the dancing pumpkin.
A necromancer looking for a new servant spotted the skeleton, “Just what I need and so very handy” he grabbed the Skeleton's hand and was stuck. The necro’s apprentice tried to free his master and you guessed it, stuck. So now there are two Orcs one skeleton, a necro and his apprentice stuck.
Twinkle kept dancing down the path engrossed in her music and never looking behind her to see this very odd parade. By the time she reached Kelethin she had added one troll on vacation, two Halflings and a gnome. Now the fae love a parade so when one saw this odd line up they assumed it was a parade. Twinkle saw fae lining up on the road, “Oh my they must have come to admire my pumpkin” She still did not know of the following she had.
Twinkle stopped, and so did the pumpkin the two Orcs, the skeleton, the necro and apprentice, the troll, along with the 2 Halflings and the gnome. She looked behind her and started to laugh, Oh my this was the strangest sight she had ever seen. Twinkle spoke the word and the spell was removed. The pumpkin, and all the rest fell to the ground. The orcs removed themselves soon as they could, no magic pumpkin was worth this. The necro and his apprentice picked up the skeleton who by now was a pile of bones. The troll decided no more vacations for him, The only ones who had fun with this were the Halflings and the gnome. “That was grand, can we do it again” they asked.
Well to finish Twinkle won first prize for her pumpkin and honorable mention for a wonderful parade. The Halflings turned out to be wonderful bakers and make all kinds of treats from the pumpkin. Our gnome friend was an excellent carver, he took the shell of the pumpkin and carved the orcs, necro, apprentice, skeleton, troll the Halflings and himself.
Now one last thing, Twinkle was headed home when she spotted the two orcs and they had very sad faces and as you know or may not know one of the saddest things in all of Norrath is a sad face orc.
“We gots no pumpkins, no pumpkins pies” they cried. Twinklebell thought just this one time I will be kind to orcs. She closed her eyes, said a word of magic and in front of the two orcs appeared two large pumpkin pies with whip cream on top. Both orcs jumped up “You sees that? Pumpkins pies and whippy cream. “ one said “We gonna eats good” Both looked around do see who had done this but no one was in sight. “Thanks you who done this thing. We is grateful” Twinklebell giggled “ You are welcome.” She went on home with a warm feeling in her heart.

Well, here is how it began...... Once there was a king, a very dark and proud king.

He was a cruel king, wise in the ways of torture and causing fear in the hearts of all who dealt with him.

But now he had no kingdom, as his kingdom had been torn from him in the Shattering.

    Read More (open)

He wandered the new lands, looking for a new home, but all turned him away on seeing his tormented face so full of anger and scorn.

He wandered long years, unimaginably long years, until he came to a barren mountain.

On the mountaintop stood the finest horse he had ever laid eyes on.

She looked at him with fierce red eyes, and pawed her hoof into the stone, sending sparks flying.

Her mane rippled like shadows across the dark waters of a still sea.

He climbed the mountain as quickly and as quietly as he could, trying not to frighten her off.

He crested the top of the mountain and approached her carefully, longing to pet her sable side.

She danced away from him and tossed her head as if to say, "You'll never have anything to do with me!"

Sadly, the King lowered his hand.

Nothing in any world had ever touched his heart and mind quite like this beautiful Mare.

She flicked her tail of shadow at him and ran away down the mountainside, heedless of the speed and danger.

Her hooves struck lightning from the stone, and thunder rolled in response.

He sighed as the rain came down, pouring over him in drenching waves.

He sat down, weary to the bone and soul now.

He realized that his search was fruitless. He was homeless, friendless, subjectless.

He slipped into a deep sleep, shivering and cold on the mountain.

He began to dream as he sat there.

Images broke like falling snowflakes... one after the other....

He saw himself running after the Mare... endlessly running.

He called to her.... He pleaded with her....

He searched for food for her. He searched for water for her, a place for her to shelter from the storm.

He felt as if all he would do in the world was take care of her if she would only come to him.

Finally, exhausted even in his dream, he sank wearily down to the cold stone at the top of the mountain, whipped by rain and wind.

    His sleep deepened.

He passed where few people go, into the borderlands between death and life.

When he realized, even in his dream, that he was indeed dying of cold and hunger and exposure, he merely sighed.

With his last breath, he only murmured, "I would have loved you and taken care of you."

With that last breath... he entered the realm of Dreams and Nightmares.

He woke gradually in warm sunlight and gentle breezes, to feel a gentle nudging at his arm.

The fiery eyes regarded him gently and a soft whicker greeted him.

One hoof struck lightly at the ground, and he turned his head to see aloaf of warm bread and a decanter of wine.

He sat up suddenly, realizing that the Mare was taking care of him.

He gratefully ate the bread and drank the wine.

He regained his strength and stood, the Mare supporting him with his arm around her neck.

The King looked around from his vantage point and was mystified.

Homes, villages, fields, buildings, cities.... All wavered and flickered in and out of perspective in this land of Dreams and Nightmares.

He walked on down the mountain, wonderingly, into a town.

The mare walked proudly beside him, head tossing and midnight mane dancing in the breeze.

The people turned, caught sight of him, and bowed, smiling.

    The guards saluted him.

Children ran up to him and hugged him, and dangled gleefully from his hands.

The king could make no sense of this, feeling completely unnerved and haunted by the welcomes of the people.

“It must be a nightmare!” he finally cried out in desperation, dashing into the shop of a weapons merchant.

He snatched up a small dagger and sliced his palm deeply with the tip. Blood ran freely as the king stared in amazement.

“This is real?” he asked, turning to the merchant. “What is the meaning of this?"

The merchant called out the door, “Bring a healer! The King is hurt!”

The merchant led the king to a chair and even as he sat the king down, a woman came swiftly in, assessed the wound instantly, and kneeling before him, bound his hand with herbs and clean linen, saying words of wisdom and healing.

The healer looked at the king’s shocked face and said, “Sire, we can explain.”

The merchant nodded, and said, "My dear King, we have been waiting for you so long. The world of Dreams and Nightmares has been without a ruler since the Shattering."

The healer continued softly, “Only the Night Mare can choose a worthy one to rule over the kingdom, as it must be one who understands the horrors of the mind and heart, and one who has realized that they must care for all.”

The merchant gestured to the half-open door, where the Night Mare stood keeping watch over her Dearest.

“See, Sire? She has chosen you. In doing so, she has chosen one who will send dreams and nightmares to people wisely, to teach them and to give them hope.”

The healer finished the binding of linens and spells and added gently, “One who will know how far to scare the people, but not to take it so far that they die. You.”

The king got up and went to the Night Mare, who nickered softly at his touch on her neck.

The king considered all this in amazement, thoughtfully stroking the Mare's mane.

He turned and gave the healer a thank you bow, and nodded to the merchant. “I accept.”

The merchant ran out in the street, shouting, “The King accepts! The King accepts! We have a rightful King again!”

At this, the Night Mare tugged the King out of the shop and nudged the King toward her side. He gently placed his hands on her back, testing her. She merely turned her head toward the far castle and shifted her hooves as if ready to take him there.

The king leaped gracefully onto the Night Mare’s back as streamers floated from high windows, bugles blared, and people shouted their hurrahs.

The king who brought so much suffering and suffered so much himself, had become wise enough to rule the Land of Dreams and Nightmares!

/em smiles and closes her notebook.

And thus ends the story. But one more word….

The Wise King rules there still, and if you have dreams or night mares.... you know who is responsible!
