what about Feerrott.. i always pernounce it without the t's at the end so they're silent like Fear - Ro
You just made my day..i do that too, and all my rl friends who play with me make fun of me cause "they're not french ogres (dating back to oggok from eq1 being off feerrott)"
[pruh-nuhn-see-ey-shuhn] And if you pronounce pronunciation correctly you'll hardly ever misspell it. =) I'm surprised no one caught that.
Tunare = Too Nah Ray Sounds better when you say "Holy Tunare!" Message Edited by Calthine on 08-23-2006 11:31 PM
Yes, that one is quite similar (just forget the Y in Ray) more like Too-Nah-ra(y) (but ra as in 'Ray' word) First thing you need to do to read those to forget English letter-by-letter reading completely and give sounds to most letters as they can be. Also many NPC's in Willow Wood actually pronounce the word Tunare quite beautifully from their voice overs. And about "Zek" it is more like "Zäk" more Z insted of "S" in "Sack" word possibly. or Isaac can be pronounced as "iZek" In Cazic Thule , "C" are always word in "K" so more like "car" without "r" , Ka-zeek Thool would be more better pronounce. And about Feerrott is more sounding like "Fear-Roth" (stressing the "t" at the end) As in general (for US) - "a" is read as the "o" in Godawful... - "e" is read as the first "a" in Lay - "i" is read as more like the second "i" in Luscious Lips... - "K" & "C" as "c" in "couple" - "G" as the "g" in Go get gaiters... (not as in Geez!) For Aussies or Brits: - "a" somewhere between the "u" of sun and the "a" of father. Not as long as the a in Pa... - "e" as the short e sound in "Ready, get set"... - "i" as the short i sound in hit, kit, bit, sit... Also many names are in game voiceover, ingame intro (when you start a new character -the story telling one- or if you can't create new character, it is -here where you can hear Rallos Zek, Feerrott, Rallosian, Luclin etc.- ) Message Edited by selch on 08-24-2006 06:40 AM
Heh, I'm not too worried how the names sound. I'm still trying to get people to say; a-dept. Not ae-dept. Drives me nuts.
I've always pronounced Tunare as Tu-na-rey. (Not like "tun-uh-rey", but more like "tune-ahh-rey".) I was also corrected at a fan faire by the Firiona Vie model person - the last word in Firiona Vie is actually pronounced like "Vee" and not "Vigh".
