If you're part of a guild that has cleared enough content to not get any upgrades in there, why are you complaining about the zone? Should be a pretty easy zone for you to complete. Plenty of casuals can kill the first 3 named in the zone, they aren't that bad lol
Sounds just like the original Nizara back in the day. It was designed to be more hardcore, sounds like they kept the tradition alive.
Watch your blues, body pull or pet pull, mind the pathing, don't fight on bridges or ledges. Nizara was specifically designed to slaughter the careless.
We're not exactly inexperienced and we know our classes well. We've tried most of that--we've been pulling to the front room (remember, we're getting stomped by the first named in the zone). We're wondering if it's something to do with the adds but we're not lasting long enough to figure it out.
Just from looking at your signature and your character on EQ2wire, you're attempting to complete a zone designed for people with 7000+ potency on a toon with 4000 potency. I think that might be part of your problem. Not sure if you're bringing your Defiler in there, but I'd imagine that healing that zone with 4400 potency is pretty rough. Not saying it can't be done with either of those characters, it just adds to the difficulty level, which is why you might be having some serious issues.
And that is kind of a joke also. I have run the solo zone dozens of times and am still missing all but two of the collections. If you have endless plat you can buy the rare ones, but 50-200K for one shiny seems a bit high for most of us.
Don't give up, getting to 7000+ potency isn't hard at all, just have to put in the work. Were you not here for most of the summer ethereals?
No. My play time lately has been minimal. I was able to get a rune for my defiler and that charm. I could probably get one of the other pieces but that's all I've had time for. Apparently my trust that raid gear would be sufficient was misplaced, I have to farm constantly to keep up now. I don't have time for that, so I guess no Heroic Nizara for me.
http://u.eq2wire.com/item/index/3292885455 http://u.eq2wire.com/item/index/990877015 Two good ear upgrades for you, easily gotten by farming Fabled ROV. The first one is a drop, the second one is a collection reward. http://u.eq2wire.com/item/index/1396276796 Easy to get this neck from collections, or http://u.eq2wire.com/item/index/2120409902 this one from nizara advanced solo The priestly striking ring is a pretty bad effect, http://u.eq2wire.com/item/index/1991740203 from collections would be a small upgrade until your raid can kill the captains and get the best ring, or get the one from scourge keep heroic. http://u.eq2wire.com/item/index/4059522432 from the nizara advanced solo or http://u.eq2wire.com/item/index/115953016 is easily obtained from the mushroom vendor in thalumbra either one would be an upgrade from the bolster charm. The deathtouch charm is really effective vs the trash in Nizara, and can be a help in moving the group through the zone more quickly. By chasing down some of those upgrades, you could be in a good place to tackle Nizara without going to too much trouble.
I have found, playing MMOs, that sometimes you just have to accept that you don't have the time to play to get the gear to do the hardest zones. With different schedules, I have been in your shoes. Best of luck getting the upgrades Soteria listed, those will get you right on track with being able to compete for that zone.
Pretty sure that wasn't intended to be an insult, When the zone originally came out it was tough and it should stay that way IMO. That being said, you do have items and tools at your disposal that will help make the zone a bit more tolerable. Signets from city merchants, freedom of action/mind potions, stun/stifle/fear immunity war runes. Then there are the class abilities designed to help mitigate such things like stun/daze/stifle/interupt/mez/charm. Death Touch charms can be bought from the merchant and are quite nice for the zone. Hope some of this helps.
The zone can be difficult and it is hazardous to any AoE weapon/abilities. It has been while since I've had to single pull groups or clear the starting area and pull all the trash back to cleared area to fight it with the group. My biggest issue with the zone is the loot was very underwhelming for the difficulty level. I was expecting the loot to be somewhere between Zek Heroic and T1 raid gear with adjustments made to the potency/CB on the gear. But instead I see gear that is not any better then the standard ToT heroic gear.
I may be wrong, since I haven't paid much attention to T1 raid gear in a while, but isn't the armor that drops from the early named on par with T1 raid gear? Nizara Loot: http://u.eq2wire.com/item/index/2183842276 Stygian (T1 Raid) Loot: http://u.eq2wire.com/item/index/2846499933 So honestly, I don't understand the issue you guys are arguing. Stygian is loads harder to complete than Nizara, simply because you need a raid force to do it. If we're talking casual players, Nizara is much easier to attempt than to try to get 18+ other casual players to join your raid and complete Stygian. I do not expect the first few named in ANY zone to drop any good loot. Ever. The loot off of the final named is pretty on par with the difficulty. Again, if we're comparing raid loot to heroic zone loot, you have to expect that raid loot is always going to be better. To get comparable earrings in raid you need to kill Goortuk Challenge Mode or The Weapon of War. Both of those raid mobs are pretty difficult, and far more difficult than Nizara heroic mobs.
or you could run MC which is a hell of a lot easier and get \aITEM -1128542419 1188558088:Invigorated Yothshaval Platemail Gauntlets\/a
Those are gloves, not forearms. Though the point is there, I think the gloves in Nizara are exact copies of the ones that drop in MC. The issue with MC is that too many people complained about how tough it was, so they nerfed it. Then they had the potency explosion and the zone became trivial. The gear was a fair trade off for how hard the zone was at the beginning of the expansion. It was as hard as Nizara is now. People were able to clear it, but you didn't take PUGs or casuals through there, because it took a dedicated group of above average players to complete MC. Now? You don't even need a tank because they make the zone "Facerolly" for all the people who complained that it was too hard (Then the explosion, as I said). I do not want to see them make the same mistake with Nizara. If you don't enjoy the zone because it is too hard for you, then go back to ToT zones, RTT servers, do PQs, run tradeskill quests, decorate your house, do the new x2, run ethereal groups, level a new toon "The hard way", or something OTHER than complaining that you need a zone that is able to be completed by exceptional players to be nerfed. As I said before, this is an MMO, sometimes you have to understand that you don't have the time, skill, or capabilities to complete the hardest zones. Not every zone is supposed to be completed by the ultra casual player.
Would like to see the gear upgraded to be in line with Risk vs Reward. That being said it is nice having a zone where you can do 200mil as a Templar and with fights that last longer than 8 seconds. Overall good job on the zone I'd say, great for some starting gear on some new alts =-)..
