Not necessarily. DSL doesn't use a fixed IP address. I suspect that satellite doesn't either.

I know from personal experience that attack duration != downtime. Once network traffic has been routed to the DDOS mitigation service's circuits, the attack may continue, but response time returns to normal or near normal.

This is why traffic may remain on those circuits for hours and even days although business uptime has been recovered.

Is the servers downs still from DDoS attacks or server maintenance or both some update would be nice!

Server maintenance and patching, apparently. Should be done in 2 hours, according to their prediction.

they said 6 hour downtime which started at 10am est... its now 12pm est 4 hours to go not 2...

"x" IP address with date and time of use will indicate region and ISP.
ISP's log will determine whom received which IP at which time.
User's Contact/payment information from ISP will lead one to individual.

Not to mention ISPs will do as little work as possible, and invariably will reassign IP addresses if they can get away with it.
DSL, to date, is so far from the "dail-up-different-IP-with-each-new-connection" that it basically can be viewed as a Cable/Fiber connection.

Lastly, the extreme latency of a >40,000 mile Satellite* Internet connection would cause Real-time RPG/FPS games to be unplayable, only really usable for just email/webpages.

*satellite location in orbit may vary.

    indeed.
The immature/infantile "adult" would use sophisticated language, attitudes, and manipulation(s),
the tone may be different, but the effect is exactly the same.
Where the child wants someone else to fix their problem; Just as their parent(s) did when they were young, who constantly picked up after them, instead of assuring the child basically cleaned up their own mess(es).

If it's true that a shotgun issue on H1Z! was the cause of the problems we face , then maybe find the jerk and show that person what a real shotgun can do. If he is looking for a job then why not contact Daybreak and ask for one.
Support page says the servers are up and not locked but still can't login.
  9. Adevil Well-Known Member

It also indicates that they last responded 3 hours ago, and neglects to show the status of the login servers.
  10. Omshanti Member

That's because there's also a 6 hour scheduled maintenance that was already planned for today. servers wouldn't be up for another 3 hours anyway.

right? and people act like DB is just sitting on their butts doing nothing... like they want to lose revenue and piss off their customer base. They probably haven't even been to sleep yet, trying to fix/ secure their servers. It's laughable how many people are screaming for a full month of refunds for a few days worth of downtime.

its aggravating the only half day you have to play the servers are down on pay to play.

not to mention its not possible to ddos someone from a single IP address. and a normal dos attack is easily mitigated these says. its not a simple task to find the CnC server for the botnet being used to ddos. if it was, ipsec teams would have already taken down all the botnets out there.
