As cool as Mistress Nidiya looks there, I seriously considered LineageII as well. But I came to find out that all "Night Elf Females" (or whatever they're called in that game) pretty much look like that with very little variation in appearance or clothing. That turned me off quite a bit. That is the case isn't it?

Only limited in variation of appearance in terms of character creation, character creation Lin2 is comparable to WoW or EQ1, which honestly is fine by me, yeah there's millions of different looks you can make in EQ2, but the range from ok to ugly, all of the options in Lin2 looked great and personaly i'd rather 100 great options over a million so-so to down right ugly options.
In terms of clothing Lin2 probably has more different looks than any other game, here's just a small little selection of different dark elf armor in Lin2.

Ummmm... It would be my personal preference not to wear those outfits, but if someone else wants to wear them, that's fine with me.
WOW has the greatest variety of armor that I've seen so far. I hate to even admit it because it's not my favorite game (horrid community), but it's true.
The reason I actually like WOW's armor is because it's not the same skeleton in 50 million colors and textures. There are actually many different ones. I should call them armor molds I guess, instead of skeletons. Anyhow, when I looked at a character in WOW, I can tell just by what they wear what class they are and what level. So much of EQ2's armor looks the same throughout the tiers that, unless you know what every piece of armor is, you have to click on the person to find out their level.
I mean, sure the fabric is pretty, but the pattern is the same. That lack of variety makes me a sad panda.

And is there ANY armor that doesn't make your toon look like she should be standing on a street corner?

And, that is the opportunity created by the appearance tab! Add a some of those Lineage Dark Elven style armors as fluff pieces (i.e., 0 stats) and you would not have to. (Let's grab some of the Lineage High Elven and Orish styles too!)
Add some more others that are part way between those wonderful looks and the burkas we have now, and many others will have the look they want.
Still others actually like the current look, and they are perfectly able to keep that style if they wish.
. . . and for the win - all these looks could co-exist allowing for some real variety in EQ2's character customization.
(And letting players make pretty much the avatar they want is part of the genius of CoH! )

Are you kidding? A lot of girls like guys to be as girlish as possible, long hair, no facial hair or any hair except on the head, ect. Surprised they just don't go after Shemales:p

To the actual topic at hand. To me this is a dead horse, not beaten, but blown up with a grenade. You can't make everyone bikini hoes, like lineage. Its all about having the option to dress half naked, or not, you get to choose. Either way you choose you don't lose stats and such. Options is a fun word, lets use it more in eq2!
  11. ARCHIVED-Sapphirius Guest

Actually, LordFyre. I would not wear the clothing from Lineage 2. If they're what is pictured above, then I wouldn't be caught dead in them. It is my opinion that those pictures go beyond the realm of sexy and into just plain trashy... my opinion of course, but as I said, if someone else actually wants to wear that, more power to them. I won't stop them.
My lament isn't with appearance slots and such or being able to cover armor I don't want. It's with the lack of style. You can be stylish and still be decently covered (by decent, I mean not parading around in metal underwear). Some of the Guild Wars and WOW armor is actually very tasteful and very stylish and very different from what we have here in EQ2. That's what I would love to see.
I don't want EQ2 to have just the two extremes: "burkha nun" and "metal bikini." I want there to be some shades of grey... ARMOR IN BETWEEN THE TWO EXTREMES, something where I can still look sexy and stylish and not cross the lines that I personally am not comfortable crossing. Other people can cross whatever lines they want, and it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I'm not one to tell people what they can or can't wear, but I do want to be able to wear what I want to wear without having to choose between just two looks. I want more options than just those two.
    Did that make any sense?

I'm going to have to agree with myriam on this one. every model pictures looks kinda..well like they belong on steet corners. In fact irl i've seen a few hookers wearing those same type of outfits. I personally hate the chainmail bikini and all it stands for. why do men think its okay to objectify females? And why do some female think its okay?
I mean we are not here for your amusement. alot of us don't want to be used as a marketing tool for SOE. If all you guys are really hard up for some female nudity why not just watch a porno instead .. i mean there are literally thousands of free ones out there.

("bikini hoes" is such a horrible choice of words b.t.w. :( )
And, you might want to review the thread again. It really is about choices.
Yes, I am 110% for adding sexier armor choices to EQ2! (I should be since I started this thread), but I have no desire to force you - or anyone - be be my "entertainment" either. (True, the thread is specifically about the "option to dress half naked or not." But that is still about "choice")

For dark elves? not really, from what I remember those being sexual in nature is part of the racial culture, even the males show some skin depending on the armor, I remember there being one male caster armor that had fishnets, and personaly I love that style, while I don't wear quite that little I like showing skin myself when I go out do my taste in real cloths carries over to what I want in games, if my character is showing less skin than I do in the middle of winter then I have a problem with it.
Other races though aren't as bad and some fairly well covered, here's the same armor set on different female races, from left to right human caster, dark elf, human fighter, elf, dwarf, that last one is a human caster, but different armor, not sure why it ended up in the pic. Oh, and that's the other thing I loved in Lin2, armor looked drasticaly different on each race to show the difference in cultures.

And, I completely understand where you are coming from. In several of my earlier postings in the thread, I am asking for all kinds of options - and for both genders too.

Well i'm female and I don't think it's objectifying, I like how I look, I think the female body is beautiful and I enjoy looking at is as well as showing it off myself, I personaly find it empowering being able to wear something that makes people want to look at me.
And the whole porno excuse for not having armor like that is a tiring excuse imo, I have no desire to watch porno, I do however want my character wear armor I find attractive, compairing porno and sexy armor is like compairing apples to oranges.
  17. ARCHIVED-Sapphirius Guest

Now, I've got say that the dwarf is adorable! I like the human outfits too.

If EQ2 had Lineage II armor.....the only thing that pops to mind is avoiding the vampire/halfwhatevers in Antonia Bayle XD
As it stands, personally I'm with Sapphi. Wouldn't be caught dead in something like some of what was posted. But perhaps that is just me.
I think there should be more in-between armors than either of the two extremes put together. Way more. Making everything extreme not only ticks people off but also looks boring.
The darkish elf looking outifts....for some reason they all look the same to me. On the flip side, a lot of EQ2 armor looks abysmally similar.
The middle ground is the way to go.

Maybe it was just the way I was raised, but I'll have to agree with Elysara here. The human body is a beautiful thing and not one to be hidden away or ashamed of, and it's a crime that many people in society treat it as if it were.
However, as I've aged, I've grown much much more conservative, and I was also taught that my body is a temple and to treat it as such. Now that "temple" can be treated as a temple in anyway that you and I see fit. I choose to keep mine sheltered, revealing some of its beauty without making it blaringly obvious. In RL I've a very conservative dresser, but I dress to flatter my figure and make it look good. I have always admired the care-free attitude that people who aren't so conservative have. I've also always admired how the human body (and elves, etc.) looked, and I can appreciate it without getting excited or wanting to resort to porno.
I realize that this sounds very contradictory to what I said earlier, but this falls under the statement I made about crossing lines. We all have our thresholds somewhere, and I know where my comfort zone ends. Just because I won't cross that line doesn't mean that I can tell someone else who does that they can't dress that way. Yes, I do have an opinion on what looks good and what looks trashy, but that isn't based so much on how much skin is revealed as it is on how that skin is revealed.

I'm not saying it's anything to be ashamed of, BUT..there is a difference between 'slutty' and 'sexy'
I HAVE played slutty looking toons before..and even a naked one in CoV, but I shouldn't HAVE to play one.
