It stops the infinitely bigger globules of spit, snot, throat mucus, and every other disgusting "vehicle" for the virus. Yes, you need a real N95 mask (not a K95, or a KN95, or a B-I-N-G-O95 or whatever the knock-offs are) to stop an actual virus particle, or at least slow it down. The government said to wear SOMETHING (don't worry about the "paywall"; it doesn't apply for this ;->) over your face until N95s could become produced more often and distributed more frequently. And of course DBG's gonna change things, with or without telling us, necessarily, because according to the EULA, that's what they can do.
