With all the changes that get made in it over time I don't think that it would be very easy to get any useful data out of a comparison like that.
  2. Skuz I am become Wrath, the Destroyer of Worlds.

Yeah this is similar to what I have been seeing in the tutorial, get closer & the textures correct in most cases (not all). Even the player character you are playing if in 1st person & zoom out can be showing these textures shortly before correcting.

World objects, npc's and some terrain features (presumably these are also world objects added to the environament textures) like rocks & arches all have been showing these odd texture glitches.

Have not seen this kind of texture glitch on environment textures such as the floors/ground/paths of any zones thus far.

Since we only want differences, load a 'bad' file and just sort it, then load a 'good' file and sort it.
Now both files are fairly similar.
    Now do a comparison.
I don't have a 'bad' file or I'd do it myself.
  5. Waring_McMarrin Augur

And I am suggesting there will be a lot of differences in a older ini file and a new one with lots of differences that have no bearing on the issue and it won't be simple to find the cause.

Doing more testing today. I think it would help if we could get a list of things that, generally, should improve on DX11. With no expectations provided by devs to help guide my feedback, here's some thoughts:
    1. The graphics rendering pipeline is noticeably slower than Live. Geometry and, especially, textures seem to take quite a while to generate after zoning in. I don't know if this has more to do with server I/O or the local client, or maybe a combination of both. But thought I would mention it.
    2. FPS peaks seem to be higher than before, but the same FPS lows when rendering large numbers of player characters persists on DX11 Test as it does on DX9 Live. I'll be honest, this one surprised me. I, perhaps naively, expected large framerate performance increases on DX11. While I am certain several optimization passes are planned, I hope there are still some opportunities to shore up performance.
    3. EQ's GPU usage appears to be more [objectively] accurately reporting to Windows (Windows 11 in my case).
    4. Mouselook is not improved, directly related to items #1 and #2 - but hoping this is something that can be addressed in DX11.
    Thanks!

With eqclient.ini, perhaps Darkpaw can run a script that looks into the players' file and removes unneeded stuff and adds and fixes it. Some of us are running 20+ year old eqclient.ini files.

In windowed mode, it appears that if you manually shrink the window the mouse is offset by the amount that the window is offset. In other words, if you open your inventory while in a changed window mode, the mouse pointer will not line up with the inventory in the off set window, but seems to align with the window in full screen.
  9. Nennius Curmudgeon

I liked your post but did it a bit hesitantly. I would want to be really, really sure the script was up to the task. The recent mangling of a UI converter demonstrates that good intentions are not enough. Having said that, if it was done well it would be a great thing for many of us.

Unplayable at this point. Crash to desktop when zoning to any zone. Stuck in GGH.

Viewport seems to cause names (of PCs and NPCs) to be offset.
This happens in at least PoK, housing, and Sunrise Hills.

As you can see, the offset is roughly the size of the viewport:

Here's a better view of just the NPC in question and its offset name:

Names are offset regardless of whether they are targeted.

I hesitate to have a scan done on a client-side file. Ensuring that all files are present are one thing, digging into what is inside each .ini file randomly is another thing. If you look at what is actually inside the eqclient.ini, there are customizations that each player has made that replacing it randomly would become a nightmare or saying "oh lets tweek this" and not understand what type of machine the player is on, what their vision is (yep alot of us are aging), etc. Color settings, etc. INI files become corrupt for individual reasons, but unless alot more say that is what is fixing the problem, I'm not sure that's a viable solution. What will happen, is people who have backups will revert back to their original file.

Moirr - I had the same problem on one comp the other day and haven't had a chance to log back in to see if it had resolved. In the Bazaar, the bankers, etc. everything appeared stretched and the names were skewed slightly. My thinking is it has to do with a difference between an option not available to select my monitor size which is why I requested more common sizes be available.

The other thing I did notice, alt/enter occasionally bounced and didn't go full screen it simply bounced from one place to another. On Live, it briefly does the same thing if you watch; however, it does continue to full screen. On Test currently, it stops and doesn't go to FS. When I go back to Live, everything is back to normal.

System: 5800X3D and Radeon 5700xt graphics. Windows 10 19045.3324. Using the stock UI.

I am getting the same issues that others have mentioned. I'll type them below

    - Using /viewport (required since the game ONLY supports a 16:9 aspect ratio) offsets all of the nametags for PCs, NPCs, etc.
    - The area outside of /viewport is supposed to be black. It seems to change its color with every zone I go to. Sometimes grey, sometimes green, etc.
    - The whole inventory/UI is tinted blue. Almost looks like a particular color is missing. If you take an item and put it in a bag, it looks normal but as soon as it's on your cursor or in an armor slot the colors go all weird.

I'll update this post as I find time to play around on test and discover other things but these two were the ones that jumped out immediately. Unlike others, my game just loaded up perfectly the first time.

PROBLEM : Every time you zone in to Frontier Mountains, EQ will crash out to desktop and you have to log in, press yes on "Character is logged in server" to clear him out, log out for 10 minutes and then you can use the RETURN HOME button.

I have a vague memory that for some problem in the past, the Devs asked us to upload a file to a file sharing site so they could analyze it. Anyone remember that? Perhaps they can do that again for the .ini files which are having problems. Have a place for people to upload them so they can figure out which settings might be causing the issue.

  16. Skuz I am become Wrath, the Destroyer of Worlds.

I have heard a lot of ppl have had problems with FM, in particular if they dont crash zoning in they crash when they draw near to the druid ring.

Have you tried these prior suggested workarounds?

    1. Download & Install new C++ Runtimes - https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe
    2. Rename eqclient.ini and allow game to patch in a new copy
    3. Change sky from complex to simple.

@Devs : Can we please get something like this in game. And have it meant to be that way... That's pretty cool. We live in a Magical world, having this would be kind of expected ( And better than "The Emperor's New Clothes" kind of thing).
