Just go back to what HA was before the patch . Or face the fact that no one will ever do this missions. The job vs reward is a joke. Everything was working good, you could only do 2 missions per day. And sometimes you got crap missions and didnt do them. People that returned to the game could do this missions to catch up. Now no one will do them.

Exactly. My 6 upcoming 105+ Alts will collect dust and be used as mules.

And I was thinking about start doing these ha's guess not now. forcing us to do newer expansions isn't the way to go some people like the older zones like myself. I hunt in tainted karana myself and was really looking forward to doing ha's. I mainly molo but have recently leveled my ranger. just wondering why they keep tuning stuff around raiders. Soon all groupers will quit eq and only the raiders will be around and eq will die just my 2 cents.

    Sad...
I am no top raider, I play for fun but I put quite a bit money into this game and play every class.
I am happy to get all progression up to 1 expansion below. In buying a new expansion I am able to do the expansion before - and I mean with that esp. the mission which are always a tad to hard and time consuming. So yes, I don't need a game which is hard. I need a game which fills a bit leasure time and makes fun in accomplishing things - that is the basic success of MMORPGS. EQ in that could do it so good because there is the elite stuff for the raiders, the challenging stuff for the sophisticated ones (Missions) and for groupers and boxers the usual trash and named stuff which was normally possible to do also with the latest expansion. So there was always something to do which gives the usual success and therefore fun. To complete the achievement list which is 1 expansion older is a part of that.

If DGB removes that feeling then DGB should think about WHAT IS A GAME? It is something you make out of FUN and should give a GOOD FEELING. If that is gone then the reason for a game is gone. Making old content unusual hard (esp. the hunter achievement) and making it impossible for solo/molo people to keep up will destroy the player base which had a good tendency to go upward since that mess SoE created many years ago.

    DON'T DESTROY EQ!

    EQ is

    - fulltime players and hardcore people who have FUN it hardcore gambling (raids)
    - groupers who have FUN in biggest challenges (12-man-missions/ancients)
    - players and groupers who want real challenges for FUN (latest missions)
    - players who want to keep up with high level players and have FUN (heroics)
    - casual players who want to have FUN without spending a major time of their life in EQ (trash, named, older content)
    - players who don't want to wait for hours to get buffs or players to group because this is NO FUN - they can get their FUN solo and molo
    - players who only have a collection virus and get their FUN in achieving this (tradeskillers, collectors, achivements, economic people)
    - player who use it as a social platform to have FUN (if there is only a small player base then this is gone too)
    - players who want FUN because their life has enough challenges in it
    - players who want FUN in challenges because life does not have it

So EQ is something for everybody. Don't make EQ a game for a specialist. A game is something to have FUN and everybody defines this different.

HA and old content should stay at the max level of their expansion to grant lower players to finish old content. Then they have a reason to even buy a new expansion despite not really playing this new expansion to the max. If not then there should be sufficient XP and appropriate gear dropping. At moment only crap and old spells are rotting. Besides that possible Named for the hunter achievement on 4 expansion old content is barely possible to handle without a really sophisticated group. That is purely nonsense.

You - DGB - hurt yourself and the playerbase with decisions to boost only the difficulty while giving crappy xp and outdated gear and spells in old content.

I wanted to make the TBM progression and achievements to finish them. If they got boosted now too and the named which where HORRIBLY hard to a point that I stopped playing that part in TBM times then you will do your best that I will stop paying all my accounts in the near future too. I think about this absolute idiotic mobs in the instances who sucked mana and hp like hell. Imagine these have a multiple on hitpoints is no challenge anymore - it is kicking people into the face who bought the expansion out of the very reason to be able to finish old content.

This game should be FUN - don't force your personal definition for fun on others...

Not only casual guilds, raidguild.. saw that people doing the HA's for progression try it 3-4 times then ask in guild if there is any spots open in xp/medallion groups. Logs off their boxes saying not worthwhile trying to progress. Chatted to 4 different people that said they will only be logging on for raids. One poor soul tried doing the Cactii group mission 17 times with no progress I cannot post what he said just before he logged I will be me banned.

This is very bad news for DB, these players will not be playing until something changes and it will lead to some subscriptions lapsing.
I have one achievement outstanding in COTF - Tower of Rot - Bayle where you have to keep a number of ghost alive. Was planning to do it when ROS settled down a bit, now I have written that heroic aa off will not be attempting it with this change.

You are wrong, they are already maxed.
Only AA I have left to buy:
    Innate Eminence
    Reluctant benevolance
    Both utterly useless.

Progression is done, VP key is done, raiding for flags to move into tier 2

I do have 3 accounts full of alts that I have being playing and doing old progression on, no motivation to even log them in now or I need to go and delevel them to 105 which is not appealing at all.
Gives me time to max 7 tradeskills from around 320-345, once that is done.. who knows. Guess I could always do tradeskills on shaman/rogue

Well, I'm sure glad I stayed at lvl 105.

As a non raider HA's were a big selling point for my choice to come back to the game. I get it that things should be hard - sometimes. Hard all the time is not fun. Hard all the time makes me not want to log on.

I think part of the problem is that people were using HA's (gribbles) to use a f2p account to level to max, then pay for a month (usually a krono) and do aa's and then drop back to f2p. Probably not good for DBG revenue.
I suspect it would be much easier to do the HA's if you get aa's as you level at key points, maybe every 5 levels which people that have monthly subscriptions tend to do I suspect.

A Dev comment, good or bad would be nice. Maybe like the idea behind it or if our concerns are being considered?

We had posted in the test discussion about the changes to HA's (admittedly not having actually tried them myself) and received no feedback about the concerns. We offered idea's to make the changes more palatable. Received no feedback.

It is now live and the same feedback to changes that were speculated on when made to test are being made now that it went live.

In general I would say there are three solutions with these changes being suggested by players.
    1. Reverse the change.
    2. Keep the change, but increase the rewards to match the difficulty.
    3. Allow for players to choose the level to which their HA scales. (My personal favorite)

I think the last 2 are at least reasonable requests if the change is permanent.

Edit: I should mention that I have yet to try an HA since the change due to an attention needy girlfriend nerf of my playtime.

If they think this change will make FTP folks get subs, I frankly don't want whatever they are smoking.
Me, I just dropped renew on 3 gold. I am not given to hysterics but those HAs (not Gribble) were my normal go-to for a bit of relaxed advancement at the end of a busy workday. Subs were annual so still good till May. Will see from there.

THAT is definitely not good for DB revenue.

While I agree that this change probably is good for the health of the game I still find myself wondering how deranged one must be to enjoy doing Gribble HAs.

^^ this. Mabey if they added the command; Up Up, Down Down , Left Right, Left RIght, Select Start right before the HA launched and you got easy mode everyone would be happy ?
  13. Jumbur Improved Familiar

I haven't tried any of the retuned HA's yet, but from the comments it sounds like they certainly reduced the amount of solo/molo-able content by a lot. And its not like RoS added a lot of meaningful solo/molo-able content either...:(

This wasn't my experience with Excavating an Answer from Cooper in DH. It was a challenging task at level 100 and before patch, it was less challenging at level 110. After patch and at 110, it's more challenging than it was at 100. At 100, I boxed the HA in 1-1.5 hours. I've since increased the dps of my group by switching from a boxed cleric to a boxed wizard. With my 3-box, 2 other live dps (bst and ranger), the HA took 2 hours last night, including the wipes that did not happen (or rarely did) at 100.

I don't even want to try the 3rd HA from Lark in Neriak now. Before the patch, the final mob managed to silence everyone, so the tank eventually died from no heals. If that were to happen again, not only would that mob have more hps, it would be hitting harder, and the tank would still be receiving no heals.

With limited time at hand, on a daily basis, my "deranged joy" was providing my Alts and little guildies the needed AAs to grow up and participate in high level groups.

I fail to see how the "health of the game" will benefit from fewer toons growing up and more people plain giving up, trying to reach end-game.

This "problem" as you call it I see as a great source of revenue for them. Most people that do this have at least one if not multiple all access accounts which they mix in with part time all access accounts. The way the current system works it keeps boxers who don't want or have the funds to have several full time all access accounts the ability to box and play. This guarantees DBG one or more year long subs from these individuals plus part time subs throughout the year. Throw in potential expansion upgrades on all of these accounts and its a huge win. I know some people see ftp and think freeloader but in reality most of the people actually utilizing the ftp model spend considerable money on these accounts throughout the year. For me personally I have bought up to 12 expansions at one time while only having 6 all access accounts at the time. I would sub 3 other accounts throughout the year. The math adds up to way more than 1 all access account with 1 expansion but maybe they see it differently. As it stands I went from wanting to buy ROS on all 12 accounts but after hearing how the gearing and having to do EOK progression was going to work I bought it on 5 accounts. These recent HA changes will have me dropping from 5 all access to 1 all access account and periodic subs throughout the year. The changes over the last several months don't work for how I enjoy playing this game and I hope they rethink things.

This is the most horrible thing I've seen done to EQ in the three years since my return to the game. They completely threw out risk vs reward and completely discounted a large section of what people find enjoyable in the game. I was having a blast going back and rocking some TBM achievements that I missed, some TBM missions I couldn't do with my usual small group, catching my alt up, old collections, old hunters, etc. There was nothing significant to be gained loot or experience wise, just collecting old achievements. This is brings the game frightening close to being if you don't raid then don't bother.

The scalable HAs should scale up to the level current for their expansion, scaling them up mildly for level after that if you really want but decrease AA awarded once you are pass a certain AA threshold (which is already done, just needs to be tweaked a bit). Put in some other kind of limiter to prevent a 3 gribble lesson run, that would also be fair. Maybe an HA completion should debuff your lesson.

NO ONE is going to go back to these old HA's for experience at this level of difficulty. Better to stay in current content and get some drops and TS items to sell. Completely not fun.

Let's take a different approach here...

DBG is a business. The self proclaimed "Ultimate Online Gaming Destination". Now that's up to interpretation as most, if not all, of their titles are dated or have been killed off by current (better) iterations of there IPs (See PUBG) for various reasons. They scrapped EQ Next and Just Survive is another zombie clone that hasn't had a warm reception.

What you've done with the latest patch changes in regards to HA's is push the majority of your player base away from this "Ultimate Online Gaming Destination" You will see a loss of revenue as a direct result of not listening to your customers; don't forget that we're your customers and it's no secret that customer service is a huge contributing factor to revenue and growth.

You're professionals. This can't be the best you can do.

This is not an HA, and shouldn't scale with level, unless I'm misunderstanding something.

HA's = those things people grind mindlessly for XP, that scale up with level. Also anything instanced in TBM (I think).

Missions = Usually completed for "Hero of XXX" achievement, do not scale with level.

The biggest frustration with this change, for me, is that it makes going back to complete COTF - and to some extent TBM - a lot more difficult on alts. This is "old" content at this point and shouldn't be challenging in the slightest. We've all done it 500 times and the reward there should be to complete it in record time while blindfolded and playing one-handed.

I also don't care in the slightest about the XP factor here, in the sense that I don't think it was an issue to begin with. There were always better ways to gain XP with a good group or even solo. I think they generally encourage lazy/unimaginative play (I'm looking at you specifically, Gribble, at least some of the others have flavor), but if that's the way folks want to spend their time, as long as they're enjoying themselves it's np. Don't see why it suddenly warrants a fix now just because it's "too easy."

Kind of a silly fix for a non-issue that's mildly irritating for folks who want to do these for Heroic Vit/Fort/Reso, and probably incredibly frustrating for others who rely on these for XP.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
