Treasure Chest Location Guide from oasenhoheit and TheLoneLantern

This guide is supposed to help people find Treasure Chests.

Treasure Chests are destructible boxes located in most instances (Leveling Missions, Solo-Challenges, Duos, Alerts, Raids) and contain various items (cash, gray trash-loot, soders and below T1 sometimes and from T1 on always armor, weapons or jewelery) depending on the level of the instance. The drops are tradable except those from all FOSes, Themy and LoA-styles in the LoA-alert.
Usually there is one Chest in every instance. In a few exceptions there can be more than one Chest at the same time (This was the case in Oolong and Smallville. From T1 on only the first one opened contains any loot.) In newest Content you might have to complete an objective to get a chest, as it is the case in some T6-content.

This guide shows where those locations are, because the Chest can appear at different spots on the Map and some instances have a lot of locations to look for it. Finding Chests is usefull to get extra loot and skillpoints, because there are feats for opening up to 1.000 Chests. Opening a Chest counts for every group-member in a specific range, so it doesn't matter who opens it, as long as you are close enough.

The guide is sorted after Leveling Instances, Solo-Challenges, Duos, Alerts and Raids, starting at the end of the first post. It's still in progress. I kept infos from jayzord, which I couldn't cofirm yet, in orange. His original post can be found here.

TheLoneLantern made a lot of pics and maps of hero instances and is still working on it, but I would be happy about more input from villain-side and DLC-content aswell.

I have a few locations I can confirm. I don't have pics right now, but I can try to remember to take some next time I'm in the instance if you need:

League of Assassins: There's a chest in an alcove across from the last briefing before the final boss room. It's this spot on the map that juts out and leads to nowhere. There's also one behind a wall that can be broken in the first solo boss room. You break the wall and have to travel through a hidden tunnel.

Smallville: I know of 2 right off. After you defeat Doomsday, there is a water tower there. Around the walkway on that tower there is one that spawns. The other is on a building in the town. It's difficult to explain without a screen shot. Next time I'm in there....

OMAC Duo: Haven't seen the one in the Turret room in a while, but the one during the cut scene is still very much there. As for the 3rd one, I usually find one after the boss fight as I'm leaving sitting in the end of the pipe that's in the corridor as you're making your way toward the exit.

HIVE Duo: The Ambush bug one is still there. I used to see the one after the Queen Bee fight, but haven't in quite some time.

Gotham U Duo: I think this may be the one you have listed 3rd. After fighting Gruhn the final time head into the next room where the scarabs will start spawning. Go left right before they spawn and there's one there. I do think it's by a portal-looking door.

Lighthouse Duo: The 2nd one is still very common.

no offense, but i've got maps of most (if not all) of the treasure chest location on my laptop (that crashed...). Atleast, just the ones accessible to f2p users and heroside. If I figure out a way to get those loaded up on this computer, I'll submit them to this thread.

btw, smallville has 7 locations.

FOS2 has a third chest at the top of the entrance of Meta's room. You can see it during the cutscene where Lex and Supes first spot Meta.

Would be great, if you could make those maps accessable to us. This would help a lot, since it's a lot better to understand a chest-location with a picture than with describing it.

And I totally forgot about the chest in FOS2, last boss room, thanks for the reminder.

I got about 30 screen shots of various treasure chest locations on my PC - I was starting to compile screen shots of as many as I could find. No doubt there's probably some doubles from the list you already have, but I'll upload all I got over the weekend. Hopefully I'll find some time to do it this weekend. It will be a lot faster this time around since I won't have to keep running everything until I find each chest spot. I've got them all pretty much memorized now.

Edit: I only have screen shots of the locations on the map, not exactly how to find it in the instance. If you want that too, it'll be a little longer.

What I try to add aswell are all the leveling instances. This is where I need additional help. I post a map of the location of the teleporter, if I can find one.
I try to visit them all myself to make pics, but I don't know all of them (especially villain-side) and where they all are. I allready found some of them here, but they are not complete.

Infos, which I need:
Name of the instance - LVL - location of the telporter - hero/villain - mentor


Btw., does anyone know, if there are still walk-ins for some solo-challenges? I haven't checked anymore, since they made it possible to queue into them.

Penguin challenge is the only one that still has an open world entrance, that I know of.

Also, I did some work this weekend and got about half of the Metropolis instances fully completed plus the maps of the most of the duos and alerts (but not all of the physical pictures of their locations).

Edit: Unfortunately, I have an exam this week, so I won't be able to get much done in DCUO until the weekend. Which means I'll probably just do daily pvp and HIVE Moon T2 instead of mapping these.

I allready linked your pics in my post about leveling instances.

I didn't add a lot of locations lately, but have been making some shots while doing content, which I edit a little to get the map into them aswell and added some of them allready via link.

I'm still updating with entering pics to the allready posted locations.
Please let me know, what you think about them I added pics of the location on the map aswell to make them easier to find.

I can handle all the f2p ones. The only ones i might have trouble with are FoS 1&2 since people usually break them before i get a chance to take the pic. I'll probably create a word doc with all the links, and then email that list to you. Probably easiest that way.

I've got almost all of the Metropolis leveling instances done (still need the supes mentor missions), most of the duos fully done, and most of the alerts partially done. Chinatown electronics was the only one i've uploaded so far (which i did to show as an example).

Thank you for your kind words. I was really surprised, when I found out, that there is still no guide about chests in the new forums, so I thought it was about time.
And seing the results from Lantern, I'm surprised he didn't make an own guide earlier allready.

I think it is ok, that only the index-thread is sticky. When you see, how many guides allready exsist, it would be very difficult to decide, which 5-10 guides should be sticky. And if it were 20+ threads sticky, the sticky-part wouldn't make anymore sense.

But you can support my guide even more with an upvote, if you want.

I've been taking screenshots when I remember. I haven't posted them yet because if Lantern has them, I don't want to steal his thunder. If you need help, though, I've been going grinding those instance and chest feats so I can get you some shots if you need.
