DPS and the Troll role are looking good, not sure about tanking but healing still is mainly undesirable and it doesn't really look like they see it that way. I'm sure more work can be done but based on the foundation they have currently unless they do a 180 isn't really going to be enjoyable or practical in extreme circumstance

Yeah, fair enough. I'd still like healing to feel more impactful, but I understand that the Devs are moving away from one-shots. That means we no longer need abilities that heal 50% of our life or more in one cast. But I don't know, I just can't help but feel there are a lot of heals that feel useless now. I'm still processing the changes to healing honestly so I don't know what the solution is.

I wasn't bashing them or trying to make a bad spin. I was trying to explain why some players react the way that they do and that DCUO needs to consider that when they see tons of opposition on something. I actually said they were listening.

    I just worded it differently.

The best thing DCUO can do is to know & understand their player / customer base. Appealing to the widest audience possible is the best thing they could do and that is exactly what I have been seeing the last few weeks too. I hope it all goes well.

Not even troll is looking good, unless it's debuffs, then they're golden in that department. The way they're handling power management in my opinion is all wrong, adding too many ingredients to the pot, eventually it's going to turn into a hot mess.

The self-power to troll-power ratio is too high, the trolls give a small portion of your power-in compared to what passive regen and weapon regen does, this will eventually lead to trolls being shoved to the side in raids once players figure out which of the dps builds and powers for healers and tanks are the most power efficient, and calling for those only in LFG. 611 will become a real thing for the easier raids, I'm calling it now if they continue down the road they are with power management.

Passive regeneration shouldn't even be a thing. Hybrid players should only be getting power back from their weapon and PFtT should be getting a reduced power cost mechanic that activates when you use more then one power consecutively.

The really bad thing that I have seen is with the power regen on test. I ran with some players in test that were hybrid players running empty on power. Now that's methed up.

I will add to why we are seeing what we are.

Controllers are not meant to be batteries and DCUO is trying to get away from that.
Controllers should be dubuffs, buffs & stuns basically the C&C for the group not the soul battery.

If DCUO devs work it right. They can make it so that controllers can be strictly C&C for the group besides the pulls & taunts of the tanks of coarse.

    I will add,
I really like the way that power is going.
It makes the players manage their own power with their SP, mods etc..
The power regen also makes each player more responsible for their builds and functionality of their player character.

Dont completely agree with you about the troll side i have run with them but havent tested trolls out myself. But the two powerss i have checked out i like some of what i see and i am hopefull to a few more changes
    1. A super charge builder in healer role
    2. Either teslaball or electrocute to have a healing component as well as damage

With atomic i want to see fractor to be a solo tuant as well

Hopefully the days of players pointing fingers at others for their own mistakes and shortcomings will come to an end with the stats revamp. Running with players that have no clue about power management make me want to bang my head against the wall sometimes. hehehe.

Well to be honest I question the usefulness of a troller both on Live right now as well as on Test. At least on Test they've made it so Power is a much more valuable stat so theoretically this also makes trollers more useful as a way to increase damage output.

However, it's definitely possible on Test to build a DPS (and probably even a tank or healer) that is totally self-sufficient in power management. You might sacrifice a few stats but the fact that it's even doable is what worries me.

Perhaps the troller role as a whole could use a little something extra to make them invaluable to any group. Personally, I think group buffs along with debuffs makes sense.

I hope they take the plausibility of 6-1-1 into account for the next version of the revamp and how power is regenerated as a whole for the sake of the Controller Role. It is not something I want to see, but fear can happen if they just fine tune 1.3 and not rework flawed systems (like giving us 2 months of revamp w/o weapons balance expecting us to talk about balance among other things). Never tried it, but I bet it was totally doable in 1.3 to beat OLY with 1 Ice tank, 1 Elec Heal and 6 Hybrid DPS, All specced into power/rolestats, the stacking of DPS will make it so it more then makes up for the skill points lost to role specific stats and specced into power by the group. The overall burn will be insane. What trolls?

The only way I see raid groups having full support set is if it's mandatory to roll with 5 1 1 1 group , as it stands I also feel trolls will be discarded in favour of an extra dps in raids.
  12. BumblingB I got better.

I am a big proponent to controllers not being batteries. Everyone is afraid because of self sufficient gameplay, I'm not. The reason why everyone thinks it's possible in theory to run w/o a troll is because of (on live) power back mechanic and (on test) power stat. But the only reason is because content isn't designed around needing a controller. They are designed for burn and only burn.

I do think the main problem is the controller role and what it means to the player. It's design was added into the holy trinity system of tank, healer, damage. So it is an odd man out. They added a need, which was power, but never benefited the role. It can still be ignored. So unless they make that need into the content itself, they could be discarded very easily anyways. Just like Tanks. To an extent, just like healers. (I'm more looking at AF1's TD there.)

This all falls into the future concept of content building. It would be nice if the devs actually gave us some ideas of that, but we can only associate what we have.

I do agree with Karasawa, a group buff and better debuffs would make a big difference for mentality of groups as well as more power does mean more damage. Since a rotation can utilize higher costing big hitters.

I think power right now is at a good spot. I don't think controllers are, since they changed how crowd control works and breakout profiles. Which I think are the worst addition to this test build is. Want to make someone feel useless, remove their ability.

The hybrids should be rewarded with more damage over pftt, because they will encourage the use Of the controllers And they might depend more Of trolls, especially If they are suseptible to run out Of powers during intances, And to be more suseptible to get interrupted while doing their combos, so The people with infinit powers wont have an advantage over hybrids or weapons specialist
  14. Jacob Dragonhunter Steadfast Player

Have you even played PFTT on test?

PFTT specifically requires you to spec into power just to use it.

Take PFTT into a Solo without a controller, and then re-run that same Solo using Hybrid.

Hybrid is way more effective in solo content. With PFTT I almost died, with Hybrid I killed Seeing Shades with no problems.

No they shouldn't be rewarded the extra damage.

Yes I have, And It Is way more easy playstyle, specially true in raids And alerts.

I can't speak for everyone, but I finally just reached the seventh stage of grief - acceptance. The devs are determined to throw out the baby, the bath water and the tub to "fix" things; and there is nothing I can do about it.

I look at the forums most days just to look for announcements and see how long I might have left to enjoy the game.

Wow, the PoT hate is real. You would think that they would at least humor a "super troll" revamp. One that granted a max amount of power for throwing PoT, so tanks could tank, heals could heal, dps could pew pew to their heart's content. The system wasn't broken. Higher power costs should have dictated higher power output from the trolls. Controlling power controls the flow of combat.
