Consoles will always be for Kids! ........ Time to graduate to PC and play with the big boys!

The time to drop the PS3 was the day the PS4 came out.

I understand that is not feasible for most people so I urge everyone still on a PS3 to upgrade to a SSD. This will vastly improve your gaming experience and not kill your wallet.

I wish I could play like it used to be a few years back, when someone DCed every now and then. The last 2 weeks have been absolutely ridiculous with the amount of DC's I have seen playing DCUO. I don't blame the players one bit, because I was one of those players till recently. But the hard-cold truth is this... I paid for a Ps4 to enhance my gaming experience. While the graphics, load time and res speed is awesome - its not enough. I spent atlease 3 hours total since last friday waiting in instances for DC'd players to relog. I love DCUO, but if that new DLC drops and the DC's get worst (like they have been). I will explore other options. All I will say is there are other games that have acknowledged this "Cross-generation" issue and have dealt with it decisively.

I guess you miss the memo that the greater income come from the ps4 crowd, as quoted by a developer. Don't kid yourself in believing player mass (including inactive accounts) is greater than that of the more profitable niche market. That "defense" is losing its merit if its not already lost.

Also, Sony is maintaining its support on PS3 until January 1, 2016. On/after that date developers have the option to completely kill PS3 game development. I actually had to buy my wife a PS4, even though she didn't want one when I got mine, because she couldn't keep up with me on her PS3. PS4 is by far the best way to play DCUO and the other cross-platform games.

Have the #s that back up your claim? When i see spytle say there are 7million ps3 users 1milion ps4 but they make more $ off the ps4 users im starting to think the ps4 and pc could easily support this game.

Yes, the majority of players are on PS3, but the majority of subscribers are PS4. We just need to wait for the PS3 population to decrease until it's no longer viable to keep up support for it.

The numbers are there. What 8 million PS4 sold vs over 82 million PS3? There's the numbers guys.....
So unless the PS4 crowd is outspending PS3 10-1 its not happening.

Don't get me wrong, I do understand that the PS3 is waaaaaay past its prime but not so much to be dillusional as to think total that the devs are going to cut bait on it.
This is akin to PC vs PS crap we had over the years. Is it true that the 3 is probably at its limit YES, but untilPS4 has the "gotta have games" (and more than 1 or 2) its adoption rate is going to be slower than some want.

PS3 will wont be dropped until the PS3 population falls below 15% and they have enough money to combine PC and PS4 servers.

Forget the #'s for sec. Is DCUO even going to be playable on PS3 after the next two DLCs?

Dunno, I'm assuming devs are working on it. Guess when that happens people and devs will need to make a decision.

Agreed. Devs are in a tough spot. I thought I heard they were working on something on FNL a few weeks ago... I hope it works.

Well those numbers aren't very relevant. Ps3 was launched 5 years ahead of DC. Numbers I'd be interested in are the average number of players on at any given time on USPS and how many of those are ps3 or ps4 players. I can guarantee there isn't 9 million people who play dcuo on PS. Played maybe, play no. Ive always had a feeling they count 1 day players or alts. Honesty, and this is pure speculation, I'd bet that 65% of players who play with any consistency are ps4 players. That's being modest. If ps4 players already produce the most income there's the proof.

I am so glad I am getting my PS4 09-09-14 (destiny Glacial White version) soon. I know that the PS4 has different issues than the PS3 but the ones listed are the reason why I am getting my PS4 besides for Destiny as well.

This is a temp thing for me but if I was a full time ps3 user I would have considered my options. This is a bad spot to be in for all but I think its really upto the players . The Devs are making due with what they have in the ps3. While the ps4 experience isn't perfect, compared to ps3 its a god send.

What about those who use the PC for.... I don't know.... WORK! And a console for play?

His can 10x the amount of PS3 vs 4 not be relevant?
Its a numbers game... If the numbers sway towards PS4 (which they will)
then cut the cord. Until then its speculation on all fronts

Well, there are a lot more registered users on PS3 than on PS4. But how many of they are active players? And more important, how many of they are paying customers? Well, Spytle said:

"we have about double in terms of like revenue coming in from the PS4 players"

    (around 18:20)

So, unless I'm misunderstanding Spytle's words (perhaps I am), it seems like the "But PS3 has much more users!!!" argument is irrelevant now.

If the amount of money made from a platform is not worth the necessary investment to keep it up (keeping servers online costs money, customer support costs money, etc...) then most likely said platform is going to be dropped. Is this the case of the PS3? Even if PS4 is in fact making twice as much money it doesn't necessarily means PS3 is not being profitable, only not as profitable as PS4. Anyway, as time goes on people will eventually migrate away from PS3 and it will become unprofitable at some point.

Most likely, support for PS3 will stop in some way at some point. It is not a matter of if, only a matter of when.

Green names have said a few times that they have no current plans to stop supporting PS3. So it seems like it will be supported for a good while. I imagine we will see at least the current trilogies completed on the PS3.

Also, I remember somebody in some video saying something about working in some visual features only available for PS4 and PC. I wish I could be more specific, but it was only a brief comment and I don't remember if it was in a FNL or some preview stream.
