We all pay the same subscription so we should all get the same loot drops right? Why should I get left out while my league mate gets those rare drops? /sarcasm
Let's all take a step back and chill with the insults. Insults after this post will be heavily moderated.
I am happy this style is being released or “re-released”. Thank you DEV team for making this happen. In general I am of the mind set that styles and especially feats should be available for new players. If you want to have something “exclusive” for a time that is fine. Eventually though it is nice to have it available for others. This specific item ( Batman inspired mask) was a FREE gift for players. I do not understand any logic of people being upset that this FREE gift is being re-released. I hope the other FREE free styles ( Two-Face-Inspired Mask) and (Hack Attack Hoodie) are re-released at dome point. Yes I even hope the FREE feat is granted as well. I do not believe feats should ever be limited time or exclusive. This is my opinion. We do not need to fight or argue. At the end of the day this is still video game meant to be fun.
I just literally pulled up a chair and read thru this. Dear lord. It made me think, I’ve been playing off and on since a month after launch and I have no idea that this ever existed. I probably have it. I have no idea what an og plasmic looks like. I have no idea what the back from the hack hoodie looks like or if I have it. Now I’m hearing that people spent thousands of real world money on these things, I’m assuming to flex, and they’re afraid they’ll make a comeback because an old mask came back? Hate to break it to everyone that spent all that money, there’s a lot of players like me so the flex is failing. You can wear an easy to find aura and get the same amount of…. respect? Clout? Idk what to call it lol. I do get the frustration of the old timers not getting something “new” and apparently cool. It’s one month. There will be other chances for you to get something new and shiny. This may have opened a door that you don’t want open but it’s their game so it’s their rules. Simple enough.
This thread was destined to turn into insults. The topic is sensitive. Everyone knows that. I stated my opinion, (isn’t worth much) and have since moved on. (Still 200 percent disagree) Deep down hope everyone enjoys the mask. Too bad I won’t have anything to look forward to this month. Have a good one guys.
Seems like the developers are going to extreme lengths to appease the players that rarely sub and spend any money.
I’m assuming it has a 1 on it? If so and it had two 1s instead but looked the exact same, is that ok? Serious question btw
Uh, no. I think your memory is the foggy one for this unfortunately. The PS3 and PC version of the game launched at the same time in January 2011. The hack happened mid/late April of the same year, and the servers were shut down for 23 days. The Batman-Inspired Mask and Two-Face style were both part of the "welcome back" package (along with the Back from the Hack feat, hoodie, and Marks of Distinction) that was released on August 31st 2011. The only way to qualify to get the package was to have had an active sub at the time the servers went down.
Lol how am I salty? Because I told the truth? That you aint gonna do nothing but be mad if they bring them back? I have all the auras I want. Whether they bring back old stuff or not don't matter to me. But saying "As long as they don't (blank) then its cool" makes you sound titled to something that aint even yours.
I'm confused by the batman mask. If it was a gift for loyalty, was it an account wide thing way back whenever? If it was account wide item I wont be able to use it. Will it be sellable on the market board for those that can't use it? If this is something that i already have on all my toons, then I'm a bit sad it's being released here. Like others have said, it's not really a reward for members if they already have it and can't use it. On a side note, if DInc. is going to be releasing these types of items that were event based there is that 4th of July set from way way way back. It was a costume trinket, and some furniture items. I'd really like to see this make a comeback, as i was not able to get it. Though as far as the costume goes, i'd like the individual gear pieces from it please, thanks.
So I haven't read this whole thing, but any news on the Superman 80th Emblem being available some day? I honestly don't care about styles...but I do want that feat. I played 5 years in a row than was off and on during some of the dlcs including death of superman. So now I'll never get that feat? Seem weird.
OG plasmic and OG materials werent given for free unlike this batman mask that was for free and not tradeable, OG plasmic and OG materials were aviable for much longer time and have always been tradeable people didnt do anything to get this mask apart from logging in vs others who spend on the above mentioned items.
Respectfully, t's not really "copyright issues" except in the sense that DC Entertainment owns the copyrights and trademarks for all its symbols and gets to dictate to Daybreak Games what Daybreak can and can't use of DC-owned intellectual property (IP). Most people have no understanding of copyright law or trademark law -- no offense intended and not directed at any given individual, including Zoe -- and thus the terms are thrown about casually all the time as a magical incantation to cover the fact that they really have no idea how it works. DCUO/Daybreak has a license from DC to use the DC IP that DC is willing to let DCUO use. For whatever reason, DC Entertainment put a strictly limited time window to DCUO for their use of this particular exact Superman emblem image. This is all according to contract law, the terms of which can be whatever the two parties agree upon at the time of signing of the original contract or any subsequent mutually-agreed-upon terms (that doesn't otherwise violate law). All that "copyright" has to do with any of it is that ownership of the IP means ownership of the copyright, which is what establishes ownership of any text or imagery the moment it is "fixed in tangible form." (Nobody has had to file declarations of copyright for decades; that's long-obsolete law.) (If I had to guess at the reason for this particular limitation, it would be that DC Entertainment wants to minimize seeing use of the Superman emblem image in question migrate to other parts of the internet, such as fan-made videos, fan-made stills-from-streams, which could result in: a) weakening of DC's trademarks, which unlike copyright need to be enforced to be retained; and b) wanting to minimize possible corporate embarrassment of possibly seeing the symbol show up in faux-or-real pornography, sold on counterfeit merchandise and otherwise cause possible problems for DC. But I have no actual idea what the reasoning is and I'm just guessing here.) FWIW. /legal explanations
