Ps3...Time to bail?

VERY true. Right now, the PS4 version has forced setbacks so that it can run simultaneously with the PS3. It's like how AC4 had to still be made for the PS3, so the PS4 version couldn't have been as great is it could be. Essentially, a DCUO2 would need to come out in order to fully take advantage of the PS4, and that ain't happening no time soon.

If the devs didn't think so, they wouldn't even release them on the PS3. Have the devs released any statements claiming that the PS3 version will be impossible to play?

I'm just calling it like I see it, which is more ps4 players that I personally know. I don't want them to cut the plug immediately or anything. Its something that must be prepared for. Sooner than later I hope. Ps3 is going on 8 years. Play it on ps3 and say with a straight face its OK, honestly. I've seen both sides and the grass is definitely greener on the other side. I just don't think the ps3 can take no more.

And this is my point exactly. I don't think it sounds egoistic. My question is when the new DLC drops and the DC issues continue; How long is it before we see PS4 only runs in LFG?

It's more a question of what can be added to the game that doesn't effect game performance. This in mind, it's no wonder the devs are now just finally looking at adding new modes of play with survival mode. Other very old suggestions are being looked at as well as concepts are sifted through seeing what can be added to the game that, if anything, puts a dent in hard drive space instead of ram.

I don't think it's necessarily a good idea to drop the PS3, at least not yet. Like you said, the PS3 is the most populated server, and it wouldn't be smart for DCUO to drop it. It doesn't make sense from a business and entertainment standpoint. And a lot of people enjoying playing the PS3, and for DCUO to drop it so soon after they said that they'll support it for as long as possible would be going against their word and they would lose their credibility and fan base.

I will say though, that the PS3 is holding back from a lot of content. We could be getting a new power set for every DLC for all we know, but it wouldn't be fair for the PS3 players. The thing that concerns me is when do we decide to just let it go (queue "Let it Go" from Frozen)? We know that the PS3 has hardware limitations, so when do we decide to drop it? After every possible and single piece of memory and space has been utilized? I don't think so.

From a business perspective, it might seem good since PS3 players would most likely migrate to PS4. From my perspective, It shouldn't be taken away from PS3 just cause some people have problems with their PS3 I don't know what is wrong with everyone's PS3s', but mine works fine. I haven't disconnected in a long time. Aside from some minor lag issues with loading items correctly, it works great on my PS3 . Making me buy a PS4 just cause someone is having trouble with their PS3 is stupid. Why do you bother to say this stuff if you already have a PS4, don't worry about our gameplay. You make it seem as if people should pity PS3 players cause PS3 isn't working the same as the PS4. The PS4 is way more advanced so after playing on the PS4 and going back to PS3 and talking bad about it, you make it seem like a dinosaur or already old. Stick with your PS4 and don't judge the PS3 after using it once after your PS4 broke

Exactly... but the DCUO's community thirst for content might bring this PS3 DC/freezing issue to a head much sooner than later. I love DCUO and really want it to succeed, but I will not continue to let it impede my gaming experience. It sucks that I feel this way, but it's how I'm feeling after two weekends of constant DCs and waiting for players to relog. I can only speak for myself and I don't know if other PS4 users has experienced the same frustrations. All I can say is that I will exercise the most patience I can as I have in the past with other DCUO issues. If these issues stay persistent, I will explore other gaming options... non-cross-generation gaming options.

I still play on ps3 after 3 years, I'm sure that on ps4 is better, but honestly I don't have that much problems to play, or at least nothing different from the problems I've always experienced since start.

Free download on your PC, something everyone has.
$40 for a logitech controller and there is almost no difference.

I understand your point, but the thing is... PS3 problems do affect PS4 players too because we are all on the same server. I'm not saying the "fix-all" is buying a PS4. What I am saying is that this DC/Freezing needs to be addressed... soon.

They could at least at the bare minimum optimise the PS3 to a more stable and reliable state. Even if the graphics take a hit you won't have to worry about Dc'in as often as before.

The business decision for Sony is this:

Keep PS3: hinder the potential of the quality of content to accommodate a system that they themselves rendered outdated. The longer the content is hindered of it's potential, the more players (like me) get frustrated and go on breaks, if not quit the game.

Lose the PS3: open up the possibility for the best quailty possible content the Dev's. A huge upgrade for the playing group, a possibly faster output of content (as there is 2 platforms rather that 3 to create for), a rise in sales of the PS4.

    The PS3 WILL BE CUT.
    There is no arguing that.
The question is whether cutting it now for a consistently better output of content going forward is more profitable than not cutting it and maintaining the satisfaction of continued business from a customer on death row anyway.

    Business tip.
Sony should be offering some sort of a deal for players to upgrade to PS4.
A couple of months free membership, a DLC pack.
Not only encourages the upgrade of current players, but invites new ones as well.

I think LFG will look like need PS4 only for T6 operations or Vengeance, since one of the new Operations is in Midtown behind the villain safe house; which is near Vengeance, a race, Avatar of Sin, and a story mission. Also, that area tends to be a popular farming location. It will probably be a freeze fest for PS3 users or at the very least a serious lag issue. Glad I got mine on 11-15.

People like this poster are ... Yeah I enjoy the Ps4 as much as any other person but you clearly are an ignorant person I can log on Ps3 version and it's not that bad but yes you do need to wait for rendering. Stop the telling people to drop there Ps3's some people don't have the income for it. Not everyone lives all high and mighty and can spend money out there a..hem if other games can be epic and have way better content then DCUO I'm sure DC can find a work around.

Well-put and 100% correct. I'm sure when Sony drops the PS4 price (maybe before Christmas?) this will speed the process. I'ts a hell of a decision that needs to be made, but make no mistake; PS3 is "on the clock."

The business tip is not only smart, but is bound to happen. Someone mentioned earlier in the thread that as soon as the plans to let the PS3 go, DCUO will have to be built from the ground up specifically for the PS4 to take full advantage of it. Right now, The PS4 is just running a PS3 game, but better. That DLC pack will more than likely be an exclusive for the PS4 once the time comes to cut the PS3. The game will get its complete revamp, and the PS3 version will not be compatible with that new DLC. The PS3 client will still be running for maybe another 6 months to a year tops, but the full experience will only be on the PS4. Die hard fans will buy the new system, PS3 fans will stop playing . Also, by that time, the PS4 library will be stocked, and there will even be a price drop then too. Only after all, or at least most of these things happen is when we will say goodbye to the PS3. That's the only way I see it working in everyone's favor.

Yeah the price is due to drop.

Honestly, like I said, Sony's marketing strategy could be so much better handled in conjunction with this game.
This was on the PS market since the PS4 dropped.
Now that the PS3 is a thorn in the game's side more and more with each coming content release, Sony should be offering bundles for DLC packs or 2 free months membership to upgrade.
Very little risk for a much greater reward on a whole.

Just like you maybe upgraded from your Playstation to PS2, then PS2 to PS3, you will eventually upgrade to a PS4. It's how the cycle goes and PS4's wont always be $400. It will drop in price and you will get one just like you got the PS3. The problem is technology doesn't wait. Tech evolves fast and the PS3 can't evolve with it. DCUO has to decide how fast it wants to evolve.

I understand and feel the same way you do, but the decision to drop the PS3 will not be made just because it impedes on the gaming experience. The investors, the shareholders, the financial advisors, they will have the last say in whether the console should be dropped, and I just don't think LFG elitism, PS3 player isolation, or slower rendering is going to play a huge role in whatever they decide. As much as the game is about the players, it isn't. It's about who's making money off of it, and more importantly, its about who has the most to lose.
