Why hasn't the war on Auraxis escalated into a Grey-Goo scenario?

Considering every faction has access to nanites that can apparently break down and rearrange matter at will, why hasn't one of the factions programmed the nanites to deconstruct the enemy? Are we all just really stupid or is it some mutually assured destruction type deal?

It's the future, why not just nuke everything?
  3. OddChelsea

Why not just shrink all the spandex so the VS get epic wedgies and can't fight? Then we just need to figure out a way to add lockdown to TR infantry and BAM NC wins the war.

Well, to be fair, this game is slowly turning into grey goo.

    Because nanites, of course!

We were doing that for a while then the wormhole united us.

power. Active nanites within any given soldier/vehicle have access to that soldiers power pack, whereas any combat nanite sent to deconstruct the enemy would not have such access. Thus the "freindly" nanites would be able to overpower enemy nanites trying to deconstruct the host. Power availability also satisfactorily explains why you can only spawn at certain places, and can only spawn vehicles at certain places, it requires a lot of power for nanites to build people/vehicles out of thin air.

yes because destroying what you are fighting for with collateral damage is a great way to do things. why do you think the trees seam invulnerable? its because the nanites within the vehicles and projectiles (vanu energy projectiles have nanites) are programed not to cause collateral damage, they auto deconstruct and disperses themselves instead of harming the landscape. Even shaping explosive forces to avoid everything but the enemy (and allies, but hey you are more expendable than the planet, so suck it up).

We don't actually have control of the nanites. We can tell them to manufacture the Terminals that we use to access the interface protocol and give them our blueprints and they chug out inferior products. The equipment cleans itself up when airborne free-radical nanites detect that the individual who was issued the said equipment is dead.

    Alternately, NS war economy conspiracy.

Actually, NS war economy conspiracy either way.

Was a rhetorical question, but I like your answer to it.

But if VS and TR start targeting our Bonus checks and Freedom Fries, they will win cuz the NC will no longer have any motivation to fight...no pay no war.
  11. M2_Bradley

Because obviously the TR would bring nukes on a space exploration mission..(that's how everyone ended up on Auraxis in the first place)
  12. The Rogue Wolf

They're probably prohibited from doing so by Nanite Systems. Not to mention that all three factions likely know things would only escalate if one of them resorted to that.
  13. Badname707

Game takes place at least 100 years after landing, I think closer to 200
  14. Strottinglemon

They wouldn't need nukes. The Delta-V of the spaceships we used to get here would be more powerful than any warhead, so you just have to slam one into the planet. Plus we'd have sufficient time to build nukes since it's been a few hundred years here on Auraxis.
  15. M2_Bradley

And there'll be a need for nukes anyway? In a "peaceful" colony?
  16. Strottinglemon

If that were the case wouldn't the game be more like Power Plant Simulator 2014, with each faction competing to generate the most energy? Have the nanites lay down a semiconducting layer or power conduits connected to the faction's energy grid as they attack, like a train that creates the overhead wires for power to travel along as it goes.

Then why do Vanu guns leave burn marks and TR/NC guns leave bullet holes? Seems like a lot of effort to go through just to save a few measly trees that can be reconstructed by nanites after someone wins if need be. Plus an Amp Station wall is destroyed by a Galaxy impact in the CG trailer.
  17. M2_Bradley

Question is,why do you need nukes? The only enemies during peacetime were criminals...The NC and TR were happy campers.
  18. Paragon Exile

Because then there'd be no game.
  19. OddChelsea

And now you just told them what to target... The board would like to have a word with you.
