I wont be surprised if that ping gets worse as the Americans get through their day.
Just done a tracert and ping test, so far no packet loss but the ping seems a bit higher than it was before this mess began... going to hop in game and see what its like. Fingers crossed!
Packet loss has returned again this evening for me... I'm getting tired of this s**t now. My 6 month sub is up in a few days time... I wont be renewing... I've just about had it! Since my last post on 10th July the connection has been fine, well kinda, the ping was a bit higher than before. At that time I was communicating back and forth with Jesse, trying various things on my end. The last thing that was requested was for me check various ports on my modem/router and take my router out of the link (They are the same box, my modem is also my router, it was Provided by O2 so it is impossible to do what was requested). But the connection fixed itself so I wasn't bothered. But seriously... THE PROBLEM ISN'T AT MY END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The fact that it fixed itself for 9 days should be proof enough of that, not to mention the fact that I've been playing since the start of Beta and last time there was an issue like this it was fixed with nothing being done at my end. Also not to mention that prior to the loss of packets I had done absolutely nothing to my system... it worked one evening, switched it off, turned it on the next day and I was loosing packets. I know the tech guys have to try and eliminate the end users equipment, but I'm wondering what would have happened after my equipment was eliminated anyway... the problem is back again, who knows for how long, an hour? a day? a week? Cant Sony just speak with Limelight Networks and see what's going on, they must have some kind of relationship with them since Sony's name appears in one of the llnw.net I.P.'s (sony.ge4-12.fr3.iad.llnw.net [68.142.111.254]) You can clearly see from the tracert below that the issue is either with Sony or Limelight Networks (llnw.net) Code: Tracing route to abepsn-liv-gw01.planetside2.com [199.108.194.38] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 46 ms 99 ms 99 ms O2wirelessbox.lan 2 * * * Request timed out. 3 15 ms 14 ms 14 ms 10.1.3.234 4 20 ms 19 ms 20 ms 10.1.3.214 5 * 23 ms 20 ms 10.1.4.249 6 31 ms 24 ms 25 ms ethernet21-3.ar9.lon3.gblx.net [64.212.34.205] 7 21 ms 20 ms 20 ms TRADING-TECHNOLOGIES.so-1-0-0.517.ar2.LON3.gblx. net [64.215.187.210] 8 22 ms 24 ms 25 ms ve3.fr3.lcy1.llnw.net [87.248.196.37] 9 114 ms 99 ms 102 ms tge4-2.fr3.lga.llnw.net [69.28.189.109] 10 108 ms 100 ms 99 ms tge2-4.fr3.iad.llnw.net [69.28.171.157] 11 121 ms 121 ms 121 ms sony.ge4-12.fr3.iad.llnw.net [68.142.111.254] 12 * 217 ms 219 ms abepsn-liv-gw01.planetside2.com [199.108.194.38] Trace complete.
I have also recently been getting this issue. Ever since the last major game update, I have been getting huge lag spikes. Players and vehicles will drift, I'll still be able to move my character, and then all of a sudden the game snaps back to real time at 10x speed. It happens randomly whether its during peak times with large populations or with barely anybody playing on a continent. It has gotten me killed numerous times. I've seen it happen to other people. From my perspective, they're just hovering in the air and they're an easy kill. I asked someone who killed me during one of these lag spikes and he told me I was doing the same thing. I'll fly into terrain or run off cliffs because of it. I never had this problem before and nothing has changed on my end. I tried validating the game files, nothing. Its impossible to recreate the situations when it happens because its completely random. Sometimes it won't happen for hours. Tonight it happened multiple times in just a half hour in the middle of the night with barely anybody on. I'm on the east coast usa and my ping to the waterson server is less than 40ms usually. Although I just tested continuous pinging and occasionally it would come back with a timeout. I've done ping tests to other addresses and it doesn't happen. Not sure what else can be done except grit my teeth and play through it or just find something else.
Seriously, this has gone on long enough, the problem can't be at my end.... My avg pings are better to the West coast of the US than they are to the East coast as a result... something is wrong with the East coast server / routing... I'm not having these packet loss issues anywhere else I have tried, only to the East coast PS2 servers. Is anyone official even looking into this? Or am I wasting my time here? It's so frustrating..... Mattherson - US East Connery - US West Miller - EU
This is what my connection to Mattherson looks like at 10:00 AM GMT (off peak US East hours)... Perfectly normal, I'll be surprised if it stays like this... this situation is totally bonkers. As expected, traces to US West and EU show the same results as last night (post above)
As expected, by early evening my connection to the East coast servers was once again up s**t creek without a paddle... Mattherson this evening / early morning
I'm from Brazil, same problem here, internet fine and this route problems, i suffer with this for more than 5 months...
There sheer lack of interest in this issue is bewildering..... I'm extremely disappointed and increasingly frustrated at the fact that no one at SOE seems to care that a whole bunch of people have not been able to play properly at prime time hours for the better part of a month. This particular issue is specific to the East coast servers.... It's blatantly obvious that the problem is not at our end. A lot of the people in the 58 page "cr*p flaying everywhere" thread are suffering because of this. Not all of them because of this specific cause, but there are some that are suffering because of packet loss to the East coast servers and don't even know it. The problem may not be at SOE's end either, or they may not be able to do anything about it... I'm well aware of this... But the fact that SOE are not even interested in investigating if that is the case is disgusting. QUITE FRANKLY IT'S A DISGRACE !
After the recent update, i too have been getting packet loss/client desync. My bullets stop registering and everyone warps around, and i have to restart my game. Happens randomly, but like every 20 minutes.
Wait, as the author of the 'crap flying everywhere thread' let me just wade in here. Orginal problem was due to the client hating software based overclocking. As to people still suffering desync. Its going to be hard to pin down a single cause, I for example skeptical that its just 'lag' which is essentially what pack loss manifests as. And its also entirely possible that the issue is not with Sony, or their servers, but a particularly routing node, and thus There was for example significant issues connecting to said server in Virginia about 2-3 months ago, due to a node outside London being ****** after a series of cable thefts. given the prevalence of these as a phenomenon, and given the fact that it takes time to fix. I'd wage thats whats happening.
Sorry, but about that software based overclocking.. iHAVE software based OC ... could it be the reason ? :S
It's very clear for months... the problem is NOT in our end but in SOE servers, and when you begin to lag you see in the chat a lot of persons suffering with the same problem, it's clear, the problem is not with us.
Yeap, they did try and fix it. But its something in the internal clock drifting out of sync with the server because of the overclock that was doing it. It confused the **** out of me as well, took weeks to properly diagonise by literally turning things on and off, but for some reason software overlocking (I was using Asus turbo key feature) as opposed to bios overclocking seems to do it. There is more to the connection than a long wire from your computer to SOE's servers in Virginia.
So ( and sorry if iseem to be a little bit slow in here ) i shoueld deactivate it? It's not a fiexed issue yet?
