Best Assault Riffle for TR`s Heavy Assault ?

They do: 0.4 ↑ , ← = → means it has a 0.4 vertical recoil, the "← = →" shows the horizontal recoil is equal to the left and right. With this kind recoil will "stutter" left and right. That means you only can counter the vertical recoil - this "stuttering" can't be countered by hand.

If you look at the MSW-R it has a "0.35 ↑ , →" pattern. It has a 0.35 vertical recoil and a horinzontal recoil (" → ") which pulls to the right. Funnily this asymmetrical recoil is easier to control. The gun will shoot upwards and to the right, which the player can counter by pulling the mouse down and to the left. You can control asymmetrical recoil, while you can't do that with symmetrical.

The spreadsheet is just not showing the real numbers for the horizontal recoil - only the direction. I would be interested in numbers too.

Removed as someone beat me to the punch.

Why does SOE sell an upgrade on guns that have no horizontal recoil.

Does the grip help stop the symmetrical recoil?

You are confusing different terms. All (!) guns have horizontal recoil. But some have asymmetrical like the MSW-R and some have symmetrical like the Carv. Take a look at my post above.

The Carv or example has a 0.225 horizontal recoil after the nerf. The recoil for the Carv is symmetrical, thats what "← = →" means. But it doesn' mean it has no recoil, it doesn't pull with a strengh of 0.225 to both sides at the exact same time. It "stutters" from left to right while firing.

The grip reduces the "strengh" how much it stutters to the left and right side for the Carv, but we don't have real data about how much the grip recuces horizontal recoil.

    Short answer: yes, it does.

CARV- fastest rate of fire, average at everything else
CARV-S - hair slower but more attachments/ammo types than the normal CARV
MSW- tightest hipfire pattern, fastest reload time
TMG-50 - hardest hitting, low first shot recoil, worst hipfire

After trying all of these, I pretty much run TMG-50, nv/ir scope & laser for most close/mid range encounters.
I also have another set up for messing around long range set to single shot mode with the TMG50, 6x scope, fore grip, compensator, high velocity ammo

Just figure out your favorite shooting play style and go with the gun that fits that style.

    Good luck and happy hunting.

I use TMG 50 with high velocity ammo, compensator, and laser sight.

I like themedium/long hitting power, and alser sight helps in cqc, but burst fire is still neccesary.

If you don't play much or don't want to invest a lot in HA the CARV works perfectly fine. For close quarters, the MSW-R is probably your best option, but you need the laser sight + adv. laser sight to best utilize it. Don't bother with a zoom scope though, if you need a zoom scope to see your target it's out of your range.

Don't get the CARV-S for the single fire though. It's recoil negates the single fire use. The single fire recoil, in my opinion, also has a really weird unnaturally movement like an octagon, rather than circle type of recoil also. You can tap burst better and more efficiently than single firing to hit someone. I've said this in other posts with more info but just want to throw it in. There are also more in-depth threads on the Battle Rifles.

Huh. I picked up the MSW-R thinking it was a good long range gun (in game it said it had a higher accurcy!) or at least as long range as you can get with an LMG.

Now it sounds like actually...it is only a good short range gun.

Is there a good TR LMG that has good bullet velocity and accuracy at range when, say, just burst firing? Lower clip size, damage, and longer reload times to be expected to compensate, of course.

I have been having a lot of good results with the Bull. I use a forward grip, compensator and NV scope.
  11. {joer

I didn't like the bull at first, but for mid range its pretty good.

    FYI TMG-50 == NC EM6 slightly slower
    It's a statistical copycat , with 577 RPM instead of 600

Use it to be badass long range without losing too much CQB

To precise things, the arrows on weapon datasheets do NOT reflect the horizontal recoil component. They show the angle at which recoil will go, BEFORE applying an additionnal horizontal recoil which is added ALL THE TIME.
recoil is basically given by 3 parameters : magnitude, angle, and horizontal_magnitude.
first, your gunsight is going "up" by "magnitude" amount following "angle" (this is what is described by the arrows, the angle being comprised between a min and a max, explaining potential angle around vertical), then the gunsight is moved, additionally, horizontally by an amount of "horizontal_recoil"

Forward grip reduces "horizontal_recoil", so will have no effect on recoil angle.
Low RoF weapons have typically <0.2 recoil value (0.175 most of the time, like for TMG-50 and many of NC weapons), middle value is 0.2 (often seen in VS weapons), many TR weapons are at 0.225. More extreme RoF weapons go up to 0.275 or even 0.3 for TRAC, H-V45 or GD-7F

Every time I look back at the data sheets, and every time I play, I'm brought back to the same gun - the MSW-R. It's got managable recoil for mid-range engagements, and it's got raw DPS and hip fire accuracy for close range engagements.

If you want to specialise a bit more for the longer range engagements then the TMG-50/T32 Bull/T16 might better bets. The TMG-50 has very good accuracy when you're still, and the T-32 Bull and T16 have very manageable recoil, with ammo vs accuracy tradeoffs.

I have the MSW-R and the TMG-50. After racking up kills on both and playing around with them a lot, I really can't recommend either for all-around play, but both fulfill their specific functions very well. The MSW-R is very, very good at short ranges. The advanced laser dot makes hip firing easy as pie, and the high ROF means you're gonna kill most people before they kill you at those ranges. At ranges over 50m, its inaccuracy becomes evident and the lack of alternate fire modes means you're going to have to be very, very good at manual burst control to land even one or two hits. I run it with a Reflex 2x and Advanced Laser Dot attachments and it's great for Biolabs or similar engagements where you know you're gonna be close to the enemy.

The TMG-50 on the other hand, is pants at CQC. The lower ROF really hurts then, and enemy HA will beat you even with their stock LMGs at those ranges. But lo and behold, put some distance between yourself and them and the TMG-50 shines. Alternative fire modes combined with higher-damage bullets means you can turn it into a pseudo-sniper rifle. It does have less ammo per clip yes, but the lower ROF means that you won't really run out of ammo any faster than you would with other LMGs. I run it with a 3.4x Chevron scope, Forward grip, Compensator and High-Velocity Ammo. If you know you've got more than 50m between you and your enemy, it's probably one of the best weapons you can get as a TR HA.

Haven't tried the T32 Bull yet, though what I've heard is that it's quite good at being somewhere in between these two. Will have to trial it to see if that could become my go-to weapon for when I don't know what to expect.
