Are the mouse settings broken?

Every time I start up the game, I have the feeling my mouse settings are just messed up completely.

I carefully set up the speeds in the previous match and when I return and can't hit anything.


This is going on like that since 3 months allready and I stop to believe it is an issue with my aim, it used to be very fine.
Not even re-installing the game helped anything.

Now I have the feeling I fight against my mouse harder than any enemy.

I can't even hit an enemy standing 3 meters away from me most of the time, it is just rediculous.


Just for the reason of the mouse being completely screwed over I bought a new one, things stayed the same, only that the game suddenly reduces the mousespeed by 98% for a second out of nowhere sometimes, which completely messes up anything since a 30cm swipe over my desk barely moves me 2 centimeters...

Usually those 30 cm should spin me around 15 times.

I just don't get it, what is wrong with that crap?

Try changing to your desired mouse settings in the user options .ini file, then setting it to read only.

I do the fine editing in the .ini files allways.
Pretty annoying, allready have 50+ game restarts...

Where is a read only setting, never saw that?

A video would help. Try starting PS2 as administrator (right click on PS2 icon -> start as admin).

In properties of .ini. 1st tab in the bottom.

I have the exact same issue with my mouse speed being reduced dramatically when I'm moving and shooting on occasion.

I have tried several different mouses (yeah, I typed mouses...) and have the same result.

I've even had issues where firing my weapon causes a freeze.

I also don't seem to be able to keep my mouse speeds consistent despite the in-game numbers remaining the same. Everything feels "off".

Try reseting your game settings. If it doesn't help... I dunno what will. This is quite a unique bug.

I have felt the same way for a long time and even made a thread about it a while back. It feels to me like the mouse settings change from time to time even though the setting sliders remain the same.

There is no properties.ini and there isn't a properties tab in the useroptions.ini either.

Nah, I meant this:

1. Click on useroptions.ini with right mouse button
2. Click on Properties
3. Look in the lower part of the opened window (section Atributes)
4. Mark "Only for reading"

After you do this - your useroptions.ini won't be rewritten with new settings (shouldn't be). Do this after you set correct settings.

BTW did you try starting a game as Admin? Also, did I understand right that your settings get rewritten? Post the part of your UserOptions.ini that gets rewritten here.

Does your FPS stay stable? Do you have Mouse Smoothing (Acceleration) disabled?

EDIT: 2 settings in UserOptions.ini that should be 0:

EDIT2: also you should have Raw Input enabled (you can enable ingame or thru .ini: MouseRawInput=1.

Mouse acceleration is off since some weeks now (played fine with it before I got a new mouse).

There is no MouseSmoothing option in the [Controls] tab.

My FPS are RandomSide2.

weird, I have the setting in my .ini. Try replacing your settings with my useroptions.ini content and then change settings you need. Check if your sensitivity jumps the same or not. Also try to see if it's FPS related or not (just thinking outta the box now).

Very important: did you try playing other FPS game to see if you have the issue there too?

I turned the acceleration off weeks ago.

I played before, it still was predictable, I did it for 3 years perfectly.

The issue was that it was completely random speedfreaking with or withour mouse acceleration.

I had the same issue when i got my steel series sensai raw. After a quick google search i bookmarked this article, it helped get me from a .79 k/d to where im at now at 1.09. I was about 7k kills in the hole. Hope it helps, its geared toward CS:GO but there is so much good info about fps mouse settings that it will help you understand whats going on with your mouse and gaming in general.
