I see no need to put even 3.4x on guns. It takes to many rounds to kill at range and people will usually duck into cover before you kill em. Not to mention so many fights happen at less then 50m anyway. Only ranged kills I get with weapons are on people who go afk in the middle of no where, or those who are already hurt. Or I just get lucky.
