Alt LA abilities - please offer ideas

  1. Chicken Wings

How about some sort of magnet boot that lets you ride on top of aircraft?
  2. Inf1nite

This would be extremely situational but should be given to LA for free. If you look at the trailer it shows a LA running on top of a galaxy shooting the units inside and the pilot. So far, we haven't been able to do that...

    I KNOW!

Controlled Jets (More stability whilst flying than other jets, and less energy consumption, but less V thrust)
"Jump" Jets (Provides 2x distance and height when jumping, each jump takes X energy)
Sprinter Jets (1.3x movespeed, 2x sprint speed when active, but takes energy to use jets)
Burst Jet (A burst of powerful jets propels you for a small distance. Every boost takes X energy to use)

I'd personally like to see the light assault get a tool like a laser guider that could maybe guide friendly heavies rockets to the nearest laser point (of course a new laser guided launcher would have to come out too, ones that you launch into the air first before they engage preferably.)

In time maybe we could have an artillery vehicle fire on these same beams (or a new tool)

A late thought, what about a radar scrambler tool? (Keeping the jets, as its an ability)
  6. bonkfire

what about a set of jumpjets that recharge slower but give you a dmg Resistance when using. You know so we dont get shot out of the air so much.
  7. Llaf

    Icarus jets would be fantastic.
  8. bonkfire

That be great as a suit item for LA.

Grappling rope. Tosses like a grenade, can be retrieved. Allows for a rope or something similar to be dropped down a wall for a certain distance. Ropes can be climbed up, but it takes a short while and all weapons are disabled during the process. Could be used for flanking or anything else. The LA loses the jetpack to gain the support ability. If the grappling rope is lost, the LA must get back to a terminal to use it again. High risk, but high squad reward by allowing an entire group of soldiers to bypass walls. Maxes would not be able to climb it.

    Icarus jump jets, obviously.

Skate jets. Taking a hint from Quake, this would greatly reduce the standard jump jet time to 1/3rd per level. However, through a skate mode, inertia could be used to keep moving based on the terrain. Weapons CoF is extremely high during the skate, and reload speed is greatly increased as well. Used tactically for movement, but forces a far more strategic use.

Pulse jets. Requires the user to be pointed in the direction they want to go. (weapon reticle) Pressing space while in mid-air from the jump will burst the user a set distance, causing a large amount of inertia to be transferred to the player. Highly effective at quick maneuvers and climbing large areas, but makes it far more difficult to get to specific spots. Could start off with one pulse per charge at base rank, up to three at max rank with a five second cooldown in-between.

Gravity jets. Similar to the magnetic boots that were suggested above, this is a reversible jetpack, with a lower propulsion. Built for pushing the user down, it can be used to attach to vehicles for up to two minutes at max rank. It glides upwards just a touch faster than drifter jets, and is hindered by a relatively short altitude max (based on the jump), so it's relatively ineffective in blow-and-go combat. The trick to this jumpjet would be to attach to vehicles, whether friendly or enemy, and do various nefarious things in either circumstance. Whether it's attaching to a smoking Gal that's just taking off, only to slap two C4 on the underbelly and bail off, or do tactical insertions with squads of ESF's, there's multiple things that can be done. When on top of a slower moving vehicle, the character would be crouched, one hand on the vehicle, and another holding the sidearm. When underneath an air target, the character would be hugging the bottom, until the vehicle happened to get over 140 kp/h, where the character would bail off.

^ I want grav jets to happen, even though it's a lost hope. :p

    But yea, there ya go.

i think Burst Jet nice. What's about add some ability for Burst Jet. Like climb over wall (faster than flying), but only for plain wall and for a small distance (ground to first flood). Burst Jet can't use in air. It will give light assault more ability of ambush and element of suprise but won't take light assault movability

It's not a bad idie. i dont think we need Sprinter Jet because infantry dont usually fight on open field (it's battlefield of tanks), and don't you think it's crazy for running base to base. It's already hard for gun to hit you when you're running in base assault. However the faster you are the easier for getting enemies attention.
