Same problem here too i had lvl 25 char this isnt high but too much time... and i got the 1000 point weapon 1 day erlier... so funny that i played it for nothing...
Last night I left the computer to go eat dinner. When I come back I got kicked off the server for AFK. I relaunched the game and brought me to a create character screen. All my other characters disappeared. I made a new character with a same name as one of my previous characters and the game still says my old character name is still in use. I made a new character on a different sever and different fraction. I thought longing out then exiting the game after i made the new character would maybe fix the problem. Nope the problem still persists. Hope they can fix this problem soon.
