Comcast cant connect to launcher

Interestingly enough, the actual Planetside east-coast servers are located in Ashburn, iirc. Can anyone else not connect to the website either? I also use Comcast in their midatlantic region.

I haven't been able to connect for about 6-7 hours at least.

I can log into the Planetside 2 main site.

I ran a tarcert (I think) to the Mattherson server.




I don't even know how to read that.

I still get the black launcher with the hidden text in the upper left "Unknown Error Occurred".

Internet is running great in Battlefield 4, Warthunder, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3 with zero issues. I was just playing Planetside with no problems shortly before lunch today (12:00 EST) and tried to hop back on only to find that I could not.

Just trying to figure out if this is on my end, SOE's, or on Comcast.

I have no idea what that 7th hop is. I've never seen it before. I suspect that it is not on any of our ends, if only because we all have the same problem. My bet is a problem with Comcast's mid-atlantic services.

I am in Mid-Atlantic on Comcast and just tonight I cannot play. I click on the launcher and the LaunchPad.exe process starts but I get nothing displayed, and it's been running over a half hour in the background.
I don't know about the post above with the tracert to 199.108.194.38 (what is this machine?) but it times out after he-5-4-0-0-10-cr01.ashburn.va.ibone.comcast.net.

I played last night and every other time I tried for over a year has worked. This is first time I click on Planetside 2 icon and nothing shows up. I don't think I did any Windows updates in last day. I rebooted and same thing. I won't bother trying to uninstall since others say it does no good.

I can go to www.planetside2.com and obviously here and a bunch of other places.

my issue is that it cant connect to lvs-patch.station.sony.com which appears to be on the west coast. When I do a traceroute it pretty much stops at ashburn VA.

I traced to Connery's ip address (18 hops). I am also routing through the exact same Asburn Comcast server as the person who posted above. Starting there:

On an unrelated note, my computer is using a weird IP address.

I can ping 64.37.169.11 (lvs-patch.station.sony.com) on my verizon wireless phone, but I cannot on my computer with comcast. It gets stuck at ashburn on the tracert. Odd. Is launchpad trying to connect to a patch server?

This whole situation reminds me of this...

I Can ping the patch server by name and IP address with out issue but still cant log in

NJ Comcast user. Past 2 days, have been getting de-synced from the server while playing a few times. Today, launcher takes 5 minutes to pop up and fails.

Of course this happens on the weekend, and there is no more Titanfall beta to play... I need my jet pack fix.

I'm having the same problem. I'm a Comcast user in Washington DC and I cannot load the planetside 2 launcher or forums. Same with EQNL launcher or forums. I'm posting using my phone's verizon LTE to connect to the forums.

My hubby played PS2 earlier today around 8am with no issues.

I also noticed last night significant lag when loading the launcher to start playing PS2, I thought it was the patch giving me issues but now I'm wondering of its related to this Comcast issue. Would like to know if anyone else is also having this issue.

Angel,Yes it seems that the mid-Atlantic Comcast region is having trouble. It would be nice to know if SOE was looking into why people can access the game or if we are supposed to try to get any where with comcast's script reading support staff.

Same exact problem, Past few days with desync and now this. Just ran a Tracer to Waterson and I get stuck at a server in Kansas.

Has any one gotten any where with Comcast I hung up when they insisted I reboot my modem and router.

Having the same problem here. I am a Comcast subscriber on the east coast and I have been receiving the following error since yesterday. I can guarantee that it's not a problem local to the PC since I have two rigs and both have suddenly stopped working.

I'd like to know how many folks are PS2 membership subscribers and are unable to connect (I have a membership)

By all accounts it appears to be a network related problem between the east and west coasts. Perhaps one of the large ISPs is having routing/peering issues, who knows. Remember that Comcast is a re-seller of internet services, companies like Cogent are the ones responsible for the cross country traffic (this is a gross simplification BTW).

At this point; I am clueless as to what entity I should direct my complaint. Comcast will connect me to someone who will have no idea how to handle this. They will have me rebooting my machine, modem and router for hours on end. I am unable to enter a support ticket with Sony because the website must be hosted on the west coast (doesn't load).

I know that these things happen (I work in IT); I have had my share of routing/peering problems at work. What I have a difficult time excusing is the lack of information. There is a real issue here yet I don't see any obvious response from their incident management team. Maybe I have missed it. If anyone knows where I can get details, I will send you an internet cookie.

Still down this morning. Can someone(s) open a support ticket with Sony, and direct them to this thread? I already had one open from before for a different issue, and their wonderful system doesn't allow two at a time.

Calling Comcast for an issue like this has proven to be a massive waste of time in the past.
