Launcher <> Game Server. A centralized hub is what allows uniform patching and a single log-in. The servers that you actually communicate with for play are in Virginia.
Add me to the list. Southern Maryland, Comcast, issues started yesterday. Been in touch w/ Comcast, zero help. Their solution is send out a tech.... I hope SOE helps them resolve this, no faith in Comcast.
This really has nothing to do with the patch. This is a network issue between comcast and SOE. Whether they did the patch or did not do it, this would have still happened. The patch does not break backbone internet hardware/routing. The funny thing is I can log in just fine, I just cant download patch information that the launcher needs to determine if I need to patch or not. Looking at what its doing, it appears to be just downloading content which can easily be dealt with by using CDNs. They already have datacenter space apparently in Ashburn.
@Tarius0508; Yeah, I get your point. I said as much on a different thread. I'm just trying to establish a time-frame from my perspective. It could just be a coincidence that this network problem started around the same time. But where there's smoke... Comcast is just a re-seller of internet service. They still need to pay the big telecoms for their slice of the net so the problem could literally be anywhere. No point in dragging this on since none of us can really do anything about it. Hopefully the appropriate parties know about the issue and are trying to remedy. Later, Duro
