T16 vs TMG-50

I am currently using the T9 CARV and saving up to buy a new gun but I can't decide between the T16 and TMG-50. They both seem very similar except for reload speed and clip size, which isn't a big deal. I plan on using the weapon more for long range but I don't want to screw myself over in CQC. I've trialed both of them but with out any attachments it's hard to decide. I plan on using high velocity ammo, compensator, forward grip and one of the 3.4x scopes. Is there anyone who has used both guns and can give me some advice? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

From the data spreadsheets the TMG50 is the only TR weapon that does not do 143 damage - it does 167.

Stats wise the TMG50 is closer to the Gauss Saw -S than anything else - do you enjoy NC weapons (I do)? Then get it.

The T16 has a very high first shot recoil multiplier (highest in game) - and has a blazingly fast reload speed relative to its 100 rounds ammo capacity.

Long story short - if you like NCs higher damage per round get the TMG, if you like the traditional low damage high RoF get the T16 - this is really going to to be the determining factor of which of these two guns you like better.

I'm not sure what you're saying here but the T16 has the lowest recoil of all TR LMGs. Plus it's the only one that can use an Advanced Forward Grip.

All infantry weapons have a "First shot" recoil multiplier - meaning the first shot does more recoil than the rest under sustained fire. The T16 - has a 3x multiplier (the CARV-S for example has a 1.6 multiplier).

What does this mean? If you tap / burst fire the weapon its going to be jumping all over the place - it is as its description says meant for full auto.

It really doesn't matter - I was just pointing out that the T16 is unique in its unusually fast reload and high FSRM, and the TMG was unique in TR weapons in its higher damage. I still feel that whats going to determine which weapon the OP will like better is the ROF to Damage ratio.

I use the TMG, Carv and MSW.

TMG is great at range and not nearly as bad as some people make out in CQ.

What does the adv forward grip do? How much of a reduction in recoil does it give?

Ok, so, I finally have the T16 with Double Hand Grip, Suppressor and 3.4x red dot scope. During my initial test fires at the warpgate, the T16 doesnt appear to be much different then the T9 CARV, in Firerate, bullet spread, recoil and what not. However, during actual combat, it seems to be deadlier, as if the bullets either do more damage or are just plain more accurate so the target dies quicker. Either way, the T16 seems better...though I cant quite put my finger on why...

My next question, is this: Do I really want HV Ammo? I am caught between wanting to save my 100 Certs for some other kit upgrade, and wanting to trial the HV Ammo just to see if the effectiveness is truly worth the Certs. In the end, im sure I will dump the certs into it...

How much more Recoil does the HV Ammo add? Is it a significantly noticeable amount?

I have both of these and I have them upgraded as well. IMO, the 50 is the better weapon in most circumstances. Though I miss the mag size of the T16 sometimes. I find myself switching back and forth quite a bit depending on the situation. I also use the MSW-R for base assaults. It's ridiculous.

I don't use LMGs very often (much prefer my AMR-66) but when I do I opt for the TMG-50. I like it a lot more than the CARV.
  11. KnightCole

So, the TMG50 is alot nicer once it is kitted out? Stock, I think its.....pretty bleh. Its aight, but it is lacking stock.
  12. gunshooter

Advanced forward grip does nothing useful because the t16 already has balanced horizontal recoil.
  13. KnightCole

Well, I gotta say, so far, I do not like the HV Ammo one bit. It just seems like it serves to make the recoil absurdly high.

Balanced means that it kicks equally to both sides, but still kicks. Advanced forward grip on T16 almost completly removes the horizontal recoil and since vertical recoil is usualy easy to counter T16 becomes a very accurate rifle (even tho its accuracy is technicaly lower than that of TMG-50) because it's very easy to keep your sights right on top of the target.

I really like both of these LMGs, but prefer T16 because it feels a lot like medics assault rifles - good RoF, very controllable recoil and decent accuracy even during long sustained fire.
  15. gunshooter

Well the generic balanced TR gun recoil is already really easy to control, a foregrip just seems like a waste to me. TR LMG's can all pretty safely use a laser due to their easy recoil. But I guess if the gun has an advanced foregrip you might as well make use of it.
  16. Dankshasta

I'm well over 1000 kills now on my TMG-50, so obviously I really like this gun. The thing is though, once you set it up with high velocity ammo, and a compensator the TMG is really garbage off the hip. At medium range, or higher it's awesome. The firing modes too can get you 75-150 meter headshot kills with no problem. So I guess I'm saying that if you decide to really kit the TMG out for long range, you pay a steep price at close range.
  17. KnightCole

Hey, what is anyone's opinion on "Flash Suppressors"? Or do you all just stick with Compensators and Suppressors when available? I know i use Suppressor, because not showing up is quite useful.

Those Grips remove side to side recoil? Hmm, now I know lol. I though by horizontal it meant the back and forth motion of the gun. Obviously Vertical is the barrel rise....but hmm, now i see it.

THe T16 and T9 seem to be pretty much carbon copies of one another.

    Here's the differences:

    T16 = Reload 3.96/4.96s | 0.3 ↑ , ← = → | First Shot Recoil 3x | ROF 645rpm | Velocity 645
    T9 = Reload 5.4s/6.2s | Recoil 0.4 ↑ , ← = → | First Shot Recoil 2x | ROF 750 rpm | Velocity 600

T16 prob gets more attachments also; can't remember at the moment.

Get the Carv-S with compensator and forward grip. Use your own preference for scope and ammo. It's the last gun you'll need.

    Simplified:

The T16 is a better mid range weapon ideal for full auto spraying.
The TMG-50 is a sharpshooting long range weapon ideal for short bursts.
The CARV remains similar to both as the all-arounder, but isn't as capable at either range as these specialists.
