Its been a year or more now since player studios launched iv waited patiently for this long but now im just getting annoyed, when is soe going to stop pampering american players and make this available worldwide?

SOE is and has been working on opening Player Studio to other countries. But it takes time to go through all the red tape, tax laws, etc. for each country. First countries outside the US to open up are Canada, France, UK and I think Germany (don't recall atm). I may be missing one, just not sure which one.

    Are you ready?
Have you been through the tax registration?
Do you have your submissions ready to upload?
This is a good time to double check your preparations. We are close.

Hello :) welcome. So, what ya going to make?
  11. Kurisutaru New Member

For now trying my hand at Landmark templates and having a blast! Hopefully players will like my designs. Later on will move to create house items for EQ2. Still learning how to use Blender, so it might be a while for that one..

I'm not as good with working with the Landmark voxels to make stuff as I am working with meshes in Blender, although there is still a lot I can learn to do in Blender as well. Good luck on your adventures and endeavors :)

Thank you! You too, hun.. ;)

Btw - I've seen some of your work (I would so buy that TP dispenser for my in-game houses.. :D) in EQ2 Norrathian Homeshow and it is pretty impressive so keep up the good work.. :)

    Hello everyone,

I just got done downloading PS2 and I started it and one of news add thingies on the launch pad said something like, "Create your own objects for the game" and PING! I was immediately almost dying of curiosity. I clicked on it and found the 3D modeling options but Behold, Unity game designing was not on there. Does anyone know if Unity works for the player-studio?
  15. Rollen Active Member

As far as I know Unity doesn't have its own object maker and one would need a program like 3DMax, Maya and or Blender for Unity just like EQ/EQ2/PS2.

As I understand it, Unity is a game engine, not a 3D modeling program. As Rollen stated above, you need to use a program to do modeling like the ones he mentioned. In addition to creating 3D geometry, you will also need a program such as Photoshop, or GIMP to create the texture maps for your creations. You may also want to use additional programs to create Normals Maps, etc.

Ah. I see. Thanks for the info. I guess I might have to start learning Blender then. Again thanks for your replies.

Greetings All, Moonpanther here. *waves at Rawl* I'm a complete noob here and decided to start out the new year with the latest download of blender and learning how to create items for eq2. So I have blender, found some tutorials which I think are out of date with the new program...so not sure how much it will help but I'm going for broke.

My question is what else do I need to do? I see the page with info from the latest tweet is down probably due to the name change of the company. I saw something about files I can get from you guys? Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! I'm ready to learn and create point me in the right direction!

    Hello Moonpanther :)

For beginner stuff, I think the tutorials for older versions of blender will still be worthwhile, but you may be able to limit the tutorials you review by adding a version number to the end of your search text. i.e. blender tutorials beginner 2.xx. or something like that.

My suggest is to learn the basics, become familiar with the UI and once you've become somewhat comfortable with that knowledge and experience, start making very simple things using the basic tutorial info. to build up your skills.

Modeling stuff is only one step in the process which some people do after they've drawn concept images for reference purposes. Unwrapping the mesh and texturing it follow the modeling. Learning how to make the best use of your UV Map space is important and will help your textures to hold up better in game.

Many people use Photoshop or GIMP to create their textures for the Diffuse Map, and other software like Crazy Bump to create Normals Map and Specularity Map based upon the Diffuse Map.

Patience and perseverance will pay off in the end.

Thanks, I have photo shop so I'll go with that. I have plenty of time to learn and work with it. I have a graphics tablet can you use that with blender? Is inkscape still viable? :D I see you use sketch book pro....is it a good program or will blender and photoshop do me just as good?
