If I understand correctly, the "student license" for Maya is limited to non-commercial use.

    PlayerStudio is commercial use.

So yes, you need to find something that permits you to sell what you create. :)

Here's some suggestions, as an avid player of both EQ and EQII:

    - Rugs, banners, statues, plants, etc. FILLER OBJECTS. More plz. A wider variety of decorative filler stuff would be awesome.

    - There are lots of beds and dressers in the game. So don't do "cherry wood dressers" or things that already mostly exist. If you think of a unique angle on that stuff, then go for it. (Example: I have yet to see a "nature" furniture set with vines and flowers growing out of the woodworking, or a magical set of furniture where many couches and beds are hovering over the ground, etc.) It all needs to fit in a "high fantasy" world, but most of the stuff we've created here at SOE is pretty "realistic". You guys can make some crazy stuff!

    - Hats and hair. The hairstyles are starting to come in, but both games have some pretty weak hairstyles. You guys know what I'm talking about. :) Hats include helms, scarves, whatever, and you could even consider making a line of hats...and then combining them with different hairstyles you create for a wide variety of offerings.

Think about the categories. You know your tools and item limitations. What can you do that really pushes the fold, while still staying solidly "high fantasy"? Example: You can make cloaks. But what is a cloak? Would a long scarf work? Yes it would. How about a new backpack? (I think so. I'd have to check, to be honest, but I think so.)

The point being...if you have an idea, ping one of the PS artists here. Covic or one of us will answer you back about the feasibility of the idea even before you start, so that you don't waste effort. That's why we've been so eager to get this forum up and running.

Things should be fun now. Does this help?

I would love to make a mandolin as a "backpack" similar to the quivers that are in the game but I didn't know you could make backpacks, hats, etc. I have some great ideas for those when they open up.

Hello, very new to everything, and excited about the studio housing options about to go live. So many ideas, and look forward to hearing from everyone.

Quick tip from one newbie to others. When you have just spent hours getting something ready to submit take a break before you do. I know I have rushed to get some things complete because I want to get it submitted and then I go back to it and realize there were things I could have done better. I still haven't had anything approved and I can go back to what I have done and I see why. At my real job I wouldn't accept doing something of lower quality just to get it done so why should I do it here? I am going to to try put in some personal quality control and also try to get some feedback on designs before making an actual submittal. Hopefully that helps me to get something in the game. Everyone here has been such great help so I recommend for anyone new to this to read up on these threads, see what others are doing and pay attention to those that have had some success.

That feature has been announced but it hasn't been released yet. You're a little early.

Hey all, I've been wondering if the player studio is still US only, and if so, have been there any news about when they're going to expand?

I've been itching to get into it after making low poly stuff, but sadly I'm in Mexico :/

Yes, still US only. they are working on expanding though.

    Alright thanks.

Hail! Thank you for giving people the opportunity to work on content for a game that we all obviously love to play. EQ was my way of hanging out with all my best friends back in the day and still is today. Now I can finally put those college courses in 3D animation / graphics design that I paid for to good use!

=) I don't know where else to ask this question.
How to you "Like" someones post on these forums?
I am logged in. I don't see a LIKE button or a thumbs up button anyplace.
I have searched the site but still find no info on this =)

    THanks,

Only members that have an item accepted into one of the games are able to Like things.

    Ahhhh Thank you MasterMagnus =)

I have seen statements here "I can draw, but never used 3d" and that is me. I have a feeling that these forum just may make it possible for me to actually do an item. I'm going to try.
Nice layout here, and some great threads.

So I have been working on a new model, but I can't post anywhere else but inside of threads. I want to start a thread to get feedback but I can't. It says at the bottom of the page that I have Insufficient Permissions.
