All that I wish is for the old Original Everquest to return to it's old glory with this new game. No tricycle hand holding, NO MINI RADAR MAP, FATAL REALISTIC FALL DAMAGE, SERIOUS DEATH PENALTIES, hardcore PvP that in fact ended up being story driven by players on servers such as Vallon Zek (Evil team was actually so powerful that other factions such as elves from Fadwayer, Shorties, and humans had to Align against them.) While the game allowed anyone and everyone regardless of their race or religion to group for quests and dungeons. This created heavily dynamic environment that is still not seen in ANY of MMOs to this day that Original (no expansions added besides Kunark). It truly felt that Everquest was meant to be explored, even when it was so small compared to modern MMOs such as World of Warcraft, but it certainly had a lot of rewards to it, such as TOTAL FREEDOM of actions (you could even attack town guards and see how the town is suddenly mobs on you. You could also pickpocket or rob other merchants in game. That I had never seen in any other MMO besides Shadowbane).
Why do think this hand holding features need to go?
No Mini Radar Map and Map overall - This feature completely ruins the sense of exploration. In Original Everquest you could of truly been lost in Feerot jungles for example and there was real sense of helplessness to it. There haven't been such feeling in any other MMO out there like that, when I was on Vallon Zek server had to run lost across the Feerot jungle (as human paladin) away from two dark elf rogues and hulking Ogre shadow knight after titanic battle taken place to the entrance of Plane of Fear. Players should be learning to navigate on their own, NOT through being detracted from exploring the amazing MMO world.
Instanced dungeons - Those also detract from exploration and discourage cooperation. Dungeons in original Everquest involved large amount of teamwork and was extremely challenging, even from the lowest level to explore. It required cooperation and at times competition against other venturing parties in the area to successfully level and gain rewards from.
Everquest NEXT should have NO instanced dungeons at all. Instead dungeons have to be challenging and substantially large to explore for multiple parties.
Harsh Death Penalties- What is the point of playing games like World of Warcraft or Guild Wars 2 when there is no real risk to reward sense of accomplishment? In Original Everquest NO ONE dared to be so unrealistically rash and head towards danger headlong. No one Dared to step into cursed Kithicor Forest at night time, (if Everquest had punishment system of WoW there everyone probably would of ran through that zone without even bothering to look at it).
Collision- Original Everquest had collision effect in place, so no one could simply walk through anyone like they are made out of thin air. If an Ogre in Oggok bank blocked the door, then you either had to push him away or find way around him. If a human stood in front of a charging Ogre, it was typically hard for Ogre player to see him if that human was dodging his attacks.
MEANINGFUL RACE STATISTICS- Original Everquest races had many things that made them substantial. Humans was truly humans. They had no real advantages to them nor drawbacks. All of the stats in Everquest had meaningful requirements. (would of been nice though if SOE went by Shadowbane's idea and made intelligence or Wisdom useful to pure melee classes by using Wisdom to increase critical strike chance of melee or hybrids and Intelligence to increase melee skill cap for all weapons and abilities.
Realistic Horses- IN original Everquest there was possible combat on Horses. In fact even several weapons was seemed to be made just for it. There was no ******** WoW "I ride up to you, dismount and attack you", it was actually the full on charge to whatever you are attacking.
Guards of all cities should be attackable- This also goes for ability to steal and do other illegal activities in the game (outside of griefing that goes outside of the game). EVE Online implemented this amazaingly into their system. Why shouldn't Everquest not be able to? Original Everquest had it and it was working Perfectly.

NO INSTANTANEOUS TRAVEL- This is the other one along with Minimap/Radar that ruins the exploration. Just like in Original Everquest, only certain classes and only for certain circumstances should be able to teleport people. There should be no Plane of Knowledge Nonsense! Until the coming of PoK, traveling truly meant something, even if you traveled the same terrain previously. Now you could of either had to have a wizard or druid teleport you to appropriate spires, have a mage summon you, or buy a horse and ride freely through the wilderness.

Revive the original basic needs system- Simply because food and water seems to truly missing from Original Everquest. Having food and Water in your inventory was and is important to keep you alive. Why did other MMOs went all crazy and decided to simply making eating and drinking as optional inconvenience?

There should be World PvP, as in all of the opposing factions actually can meet while exploring the actual world and NOT a predetermined map just like Guild Wars 2 is. The world needs to have adventures and dynamic events or stories created by player's actions and not dictated by the game.

They should just make the best looking mmo ever no matter how good pc one would need to play it. Then if that game actually needed people to group to do most of the quests it would be a nice MMO. I don't car too much if it is similar to WoW or not, I just don't want another MMO which is played solo by most (liek current WoW, ESO, etc where you don't need anybody's help).

Look its simple .. Controls. you cant mine correctly or craft or move around if you don't hav controls. WHY is there not a bind key to move controls where I want them. Like jump so I can get out of a hole faster. I like to use the INS key at the bottom of the number pad because I use the arrow keys to move. Why is this not already in game.
  6. Chromaeus New Member

Played other 'new' mmos. DCUO is the best so far. The secret to winning against the others is: Don't make me kill boars. Use the Minecraft formula.... build and fight to survive.... once you've got that squared away, explore.... make maps, get involved in a community, form a nation. Become a world power by industry (mining operations -- machinery is important here), and land development (roads, trade routes ... see Civilization V). Then give me the Sauron army trying to kick my world power's butt. That's how you do it, bro.

Personally I'd like to say more character customization options, but that really doesn't equate to a better experience in-game for most people. Character design that I can be happy with, not so much uniqueness, is a very important aspect during play and whether that sees me being a keeper or not. I'm very very vain in that regard in that if my character is not pleasing to the eye (in the way of looking 'cool' enough mind) I'm not going to feel very connected to the game's various environs as a whole.

Realistically however; I'd say ease of use in controls is one of the most important things. I don't want to be fighting with the camera to be able to interface with the world properly, for example. I also think that so long as I'm comfortable with the controls I don't care about any guidelines after that; I'm gtg in applying myself to the world. Of course that's just me speaking... some people want to know where the best this and the best that is from day one or else they get too frustrated to carry on playing... I'm not like that, I prefer to explore on my own terms and find out the ins and outs, the do's and the don'ts for myself.

Yes. Please. Give us the ability to have serious trade routes going on. Literally. Things like one city needing regular imports of food to survive, the vendors unable to sell iron unless there's a local iron mine or trade routes to iron mines. NPC trader caravans who we help escort and defend. Quests to help establish trade routes, cutting roads and building networks of trade, clearing our ruins and forests of monsters. It'd be great.

I've recently re-watched Hunter X Hunter japanimation and I wish EQN had similar rules and spell system as that MMO game in OVA2&3 of that series.
  10. shadowclasper Well-Known Member

While that would be awesome, sadly the population differences would make it unfeasible. Greed Island had a couple hundred players. Not thousands, and the numbers of spells available were designed around that premise. Breaking the system would be ludicrously easy with thousands of players and limited numbers of cards to be 'set' including spell cards.

I think customization is 2nd on this poll of importance. Being able to understand and have a clear goal of what to do at the start is the most important thing. Mainly because you want the player to get sucked into the world, customization can always be added in, or even redone if someone doesn't like something. I believe they are both important, but the game play is what should always come first and what is the success of most games.

For me (and like many people), I would like more character customization. I know that if I am ever confused on game play, I can usually find all I need to know from the internet or from YouTube. Finding information is something I can control. The limitation on character customization is something I can't control. I want to feel apart of this game and really link with my chosen character. Makeup would be a nice option and customized facial features.:)

I'm sure I've already mentioned this before but, I'd like to add a bit.
So, there's building and such, nice. Once I'm comfortable in my approved home, I have a way you can keep my character from getting fat and lazy! I want you to tell me a story! A story called the Hero's Journey.
    It happens in stages:
    Hero's Journey
    01) Call to Adventure (Gandalf shows up and says, "Join me in an adventure.")
    02) Supernatural Aid (Elves give gifts after some venturing out.)
    03) Threshold Guardian (Saruman resists your quest's progress.)
    04) Threshold of the Unknown Area (You begin the journey as a fellowship of the ring)
    05) Helper, Mentor, and Allies (You meet Faramir, Gollum, and others who help and teach along the way)
    06) Challenges and Temptations (Fighting and building and effort! Fun, dramatic part. Maybe a little running for your life)
    07) Abyss, death and rebirth (Face the primary enemy, and your own darkness and poor choices)
    08) Transformation (Accept who you have become before during and after the primary conflict)
    09) Atonement (Explore the consequences of the triumph)
    10) Return (Return to the shire, changed, and matured)

Then, do it again... maybe after a little rebuilding of the original house you built because it got kablooey'd or whatever.
... Because, if you don't tell me a story, I'm gonna get bored.

After watching some videos.I now have a bigger interest in role play. Not like the weird stuff.I mean Craft a throne an being able to sit in it in at least 3 different forms of Animations per character.Like all 3 characters based on male or Female have same animations.Or different. Also My idea of a Gloomy castle of a crazed Wizard would be hard to get off the ground based on the size of your building. It would have to be quite short. But you have land owned in a very large ratio. The blocks should be a quite a bit wider.

as for spells i noticed this. When you cast a ball of light. The light should light up the area as it moves.Balls of light seems to be stagnate. Can you fix that.By the way i haven't been able to play because i don't have a key so i cant give any more opinions except based of a video. Now about servants.

I have been wondering about having servants for homes?Like hirelings. An mercenaries.I would like to know more.I want an Undead servant like i can get in The Sims 3.I would also like to know is there a form of mind controlling others to become thralls. An having a Magic Jar so you can keep souls in.An have them as servants until the jars are broken.
Basically if you an craft enough Magic jars can you make a army of undead,an if you have enough gold can you have an mercenary army?

Animations i want to make sure we get.Sit,Stand,Slide, dodge, jack (which is to grab another character an physically interact like shake their arms or armor while staring them in the face closely.Fishing,Fishing Sitting,Fishing laying down,Laying down,Heroic Death pose.Sleeping Under covers,Eating at a table. This means arms length must be from torso area to balance on top of table to show animation. So even if the table to too high or low the arms have weight an will move on the table an head to the mouth slowly regardless.

Board game play.Pet animal, evil laughter,Show item. You literally show an item with one hand below the other hand.An show clothing with showing both hands opening out a shirt. or Armor.Hot Tub animation, maybe a hold hostage animation. I don't know how it would not be in there.Dust off.Cleaning off clothing. An i think romance.I mean in the time period you cant have children an continue missions like in the Sims 3 but romance would be a good start. But it would literally. You know what. You figure that one out.Thanks.

Oh, and are you gonna have the Thermal Expansion Mod or the Buildcraft Mod? Rotarycraft would probably be imbalancing. Without the machinery mods, Minecraft bores me.

I changed my mind! The new combat control in the most recent MMO's will be just fine. Like most. Once I became accustomed to them, I actually prefer it now..LOL.

Still. I would prefer EQ1 with the EQN look.
