Whups. While I was making my greedy wishlist, I forgot to add...more wall hanging and floor tapestries in richer shades that are player made, rather than faction gotten or LoN loot. We seem to have a plethora of them in dull colors Of course I agree with the shouts for curtains too.

Bah. Editing is goofy. I meant to say of the above: More wall hanging banners *that aren't sideways mounted*.

Yep, editing is goofy; I still long for the good old days when we could Delete something we had written, and had like unlimited time to place it within an earlier post...I can't imagine how this new system is easier on anyone. :-/

Though, given how many 100s of pages of comments the Pro7 deal generated, I think I can understand why it happened... ;->

I have several proposals to make the in game decorating experience more enjoyable. DEFINITELY on my wishlist and many other players as well!

Proposal #1 : To have the item count impact of Lore and Legend trophies/wall mounted weapons removed. I mean there are so many lore and legend quests and rewards that if a player wanted to create a display of all their hard earned trophies, they would in the long run be sacrificing precious item count slots since the trophies count towards the over all count. The books don't count, so why should the trophies?

Proposal #2: To include in game doors as "Building Blocks" instead of impacting your Item Count limit.

Proposal #3: Now I haven't the slightest clue if this is even possible to accomplish in game, but... I'm going to suggest it anyway. The ability to create in-game paintings using screenshots taken by the player. Think of the creativity and individuality this would bring to the game! Have a best friend in game? Take a screenshot of your two toons side by side and be able to turn it into a permanent item in your house. The possibilities are endless, being able to choose initial size, shape, and frame of the painting would just be amazing. But once again I haven't the slightest clue if its even possible. Just a cool thought! :)

Proposal #4: I've saved the best for last.. I have mentioned this idea to MANY of my in game friends who enjoy the decorating scene as much as I do, and every single one has agreed with me on this... TO ALLOW RAID MOB HEAD TROPHIES IN PLAYER-HOUSING RATHER THAN STRICTLY GUILD HALLS. Think about it, you are only allowed ONE trophy of each mob in each guild hall. You kill a mob over and over again... what happens to the trophy since you already have it? Its wasted material. I can't tell you how many times I've been in a raid and the trophy doesn't even get looted. Whats the point? Now, there's a few different ways this could go about happening. For one, the trophies could overall just have the Guild Hall only restriction lifted allowing them to be placed in any house type.
    OR...

SOE could provide Raid mob trophy head REPLICAS on the Marketplace. If that route is taken, I would suggest keeping the raid earned trophies as GH only and providing the market place trophies as being able to be placed in player houses only. This way it differentiates the two. If you have the trophy in your Guild Hall, we know your guild killed the mob, if its found in your player house, we know its from the Marketplace. But those are just some ideas. It would be a huge financial gain for SOE and a much appreciated move to the decorators!!

Thank you for taking the time to read and consider my ideas and wishes!!!

I just stumbled upon this thread, so I don't know if this one was discussed yet or not, but I would like to be able to make building blocks from rares. The pattern /texture from the cobalt tables would be interesting to see as cobalt tiles, rails, dividers and columns.

I almost forgot: It'd be cool to have a depot for spell scrolls and a depot for recipes

Agree 100%, but also let's not forget doors that match the houses, particularlly round doors that match the doorway to the Gorowyn homes or the round doors with the double-horse carving decorations like the entry doors in New Halas, but in general, doors that match the shape of doorways. Lets also make double door systems, and the single doors that we currently have should swing either direction and swing accurately. Current ones when they open just don't seem to open accurately or open oddly I should say. I'd even like to see the ability to make doorways fit to the doors we currently have, even if a part of the doorway needs to be carved out to accommodate the shape of the door.

Another thing I would like to see for all homes would be to do like they did with the Qeynos and Freeport homes, where you can click on the current floors, walls, and ceilings and a window pops up with a list of patterns to select from. I would like this window to go further, in that one should be able to take a tile you have in your inventories and load the patterns into the window to add to the list of patterns available.

Oh gosh don't get me started on doors matching door frames. Thankfully Rawl is trying to get a Gorowyn door that fits pushed thru via player studio.

As for the luxury of the Qeynos and Freeport wall and ceiling/floor customization, I do believe I recall the devs saying it would be too hard to do for the other cities. I can sort of see why, Kelethin is ovoid and Maj'dul has walls that are rough hand done plaster and this makes them all (charmingly) slightly off plumb. Applying a texture to those walls would stretch and bulge I'd imagine.

But yes, to be able to divide a long Qeynos or Freeport room in two with a door hole left in the new wall? Would be amazing.

Hmm...actually, while the idea is cool, many's the time I've been really irked by having my cursor change into a "LET'S CUSTOMIZE THIS (wall, ceiling, floor) RIGHT NOW!!1!!!1!!" sort of thing while trying to do something else entirely. It's cool that it brings it to our attention that it's possible, but I think it would be better placed now as part of the current in-game editing tool, or just have it in the tool tips and tutorials for new players that you can change the look of Qeynos or Freeport houses by right-clicking on a wall, ceiling, or floor. :-/

Good point, such a feature should not be crammed in your face, but rather relegated to a context menu or edit mode kind of option. Other than that, I'd still like to be able to take a surface and switch out the pattern, but also be able to load patterns from tiles and perhaps other sources like furniture, other building block types, rugs, tapestries, etc.

Another cool Idea IMO would be functional tambour doors.
  15. Avahlynn Well-Known Member

Agreed. I was trying to figure out how to build a bread safe this week, lol, without the sliding rounded door part.

    Tambour doors?

And yeah, being able to access existing textures that the art team uses would be cool.

Tambour doors are like a garage door, segmented. Like a roll top desk topper. :)

You basically stack wood slats side-by-side, then a fabric membrane is glued to one side. Its channels are rounded right-angles on three sides. once in its channels, it goes up and down smoothly. Tambour doors are sometimes used in kitchen cabinetry, usually where the bread is stored, but some manufacturers use them on desk hutches and stereo cabinets as well

Another interesting thing to see would be an iris door, but perhaps that's to scifi, but you never know with them gnomes and their tinkering thingamabobs....
