Where did you enter this? in game or in one of the log files?

    EQ2.ini more than likely.

Yeah, I just added it as a seperate line to eq2.ini (without the /) ... seems to be working fine, and it feels a little weird to be zoning without any hangs whatsoever.

I'm looking forward to trying it later when I get home.

Why would they have a huge timeout for it in the first place?

Hmm...went looking in my EQ2 program files and found:

    eq2_default.ini
    eq2_recent.ini
    LaunchPad.ini
    LaunchPad-user.ini
    original_uisettings.ini
    Uninstaller.ini

    but I haven't found just a regular eq2.ini anywhere yet? I'm on Win7-64 bit. :-/

If you've never installed a custom UI, you probably don't have one. You can create one yourself though.
    1. In the EQ2 root folder, right-click on a blank spot and select New > Text Document
    2. Open the new document and type: cl_load_ui_resources_timeout 0
    3. Click File > Save As
    4. At the bottom of the save window, change the type from Text Document (*.txt) to All Files (*.*) (This is IMPORTANT)
    5. Change the name of the file to EQ2.ini
    6. Click Save
    Hope that helps!

Oh, almost forgot! I believe to get the .ini to affect Test or Beta server, you'll need to copy the file to those folders as well.

Right! Makes sense, re: the Test server bit; I've got separate things there, too, like saved layout files.

    Thanks for the advice! :)

Wow, I think I owe my internet provider an apology. I always assumed the delay was because of lag. Thank you guys very much. This is the best find on the forums. :D

This should get stickied and a dev should honor Kaladz as the best thing to happen to EQ2 since Feldon's site, which, coincidentally had nothing to do w/ SoE employee's.

    GG.

Just a head up, if you don't pay attention the profit ui updater will overwrite the eq2.ini and remove the line from it.

No worries there, since I don't have that... ;->

who's always been leery about many of the 3rd party add-ons; if nothing else, the PitA of having to have them update, too :-/
  15. Wurm Well-Known Member

Profit is pretty no fuss, you run the updater and you are done.

And I added the eq2.ini to the ignore list so it won't happen again.

Was gonna try doing this since I have this issue sometimes, though very rarely, but... When I get to step 4, that format is not in the dropdown. :(

    Any suggestions?

Never mind, I have Profit so I just found the folder and added that.

I need to take a programming class or something so I don't have pathetic derps like that, heh.

I want to know if it is in any way incompatible with windows XP professional before I use the /cl_load_ui_resources_timeout 0 fix

No since it has nothing to do with your OS.
