Quitting cause of ascension class homogenization, epic 2.0 grind and death of alts.

But the standards have dropped so much that it's not even worth putting all the work in at this point. If I were to come back it would be to raid but the raid content quality has dropped significantly not to mention the terrible lag. I don't want to spend months on end to get to the point of being competitive for low quality design and fun.

    Everyone is invited to EQ1!

    No homogenization!

EQ1's legacy code protects it from social engineering!

I looked at it, but its just too ... minecrafty for me. That and, having played it long before I played this, it would feel like going backward.

Those damn kids and their wheelie boards. I remember when video games used to consist of a ball and two paddles -- and we were GRATEFUL for it!

Graphics are improved. People are coming back all of the time. (EQ1 now being the cash cow - some players have 900 Krono on TLP servers. Global EoK rares go for 20 Kronos. lol).

ROFL... I couldn't even get through the videos it was so bad... Hahaha I'm sorry but no thx on those graphics. Hey, and i loved EQ1 when I played it.

It's definitely not EQ2 graphics but it's not classic Freeport 1.0 either. (EQ1 did a surprisingly much better transition in graphics than Planetside 1 - which remained blocky until it was Sunset last year). EQ1 is a good, durable alternative. Free Realms, released in 2009 with superior graphics, failed to remain profitable. Landmark and EQN bit the dust. EQ1 has announced Agnarr TLP Server and another expansion so there's a lot of optimism there.

My poor Assassin hasn't been touched, and I kept up with him on every expansion to date.
I really really really enjoyed doing the entire questline on one character, and then gearing and raiding on one.
I also enjoyed doing the questline again, and again, and again on other alts, and bringing them up one by one.
I haven't touched 17 of my alts. I only play 3 characters and none of them are 10 because this expansion made me quit raiding. I don't even group anymore and I only play to solo... and PQ's. Big fan of PQ's, glad they are all fairly working well.
But please, just give up and start EQ3 already. Back to the basics... people will still play eq2 when they get two or three max level 40 or 50 characters on EQ3. (Not "Next" or "landmark"), just good old fashioned EQ3 will bring all the boys and girls to the yard.

I don't think people are the MOST upset about the difficulty or the grind of the game. What most people are upset about on top of the unnecessary grinding is the way things like ascension seem built specifically to inspire us to spend more money. If I had to play the game and grind a lot to earn my ascension spells, I would be much happier about it than the situation we have now where there are no reasonable drops to play the game and make ascension in any time frame other than a full year of waiting for something to be researched. The items just don't exist in any reasonable way.

I got my second illegible scroll to drop yesterday. Know which one it was? Level 1 potency buff for a class I already have at level 10. Who even upgrades the level 1 potency buff? And why would they put an upgradeable potency buff into the game that is then replaced VERY quickly by a level 5 buff?

So yeah, I'll take my October birth date of my toon in my sig and my 2 year veteran reward that I just yesterday claimed, and I'll come here and point out some decisions of the game that are clearly headed in a completely different direction from when I started and have nothing to do with hardcore vs making the game more casual. Unless you take it from the perspective that pay to win IS a very casual approach because it's easy money for the company and anyone, even a casual player, can become awesome by just opening their wallet.

for your info, from other MMO i played, other players call it as "Paywall", and it was used to be rpg, and then few months later chinese game firm bought and they add keys and awful "RNG" known as random number generator, chances of winning are so bad, and considered as "Casino Online" instead of rpg. i hate when they turn games into gambling.
some players are getting sick and fed up with stopping any characters' progressions, when they need upgrade, players have to spend. it get expensive more than monthly subs.
i am not offically back yet, cant play until i get my new PC to see what going on since moving away from Sony.

Buy this pack for a "chance" at getting the item you want.. Lots of games have gone to this model. I despise it and have taken the bait on it. lol =\

This exactly, I am in "maintenance" mode, hoping for better days ahead.

TLE is not the same as live, it is a little easier. but who are you on TLE, the mobs have been adjusted accordingly
  15. Earar Well-Known Member

Casino online ... like it. It's quite that
  16. Xerikton Active Member

    cant adjust crafting.

aa's are totally different and are easier to get.

adding hp to mobs doesn't change the stat increase in gear.

it isn't the same game. it isn't even close. it isn't a little easier. it is a LOT easier.

I have played both. have you?

Could you elaborate on those issues, i left for the X-th time after beginning to raid in the expansion that has adv solo that were a bit tough for some classes, as far as i remember in one instance you had to right click and select interupt to prevent a NPC to heal (usual interupt did not worked) in another a player had to use guns to kill stuff which was terribly annoying. I m not sure what was the expansion name, each class got a sort of master spell, wardens got a huge group heal with side amage -- not that great considering that we were not missing fast heals -- but my shammie got a very nice regenerating ward ...

What is the story about the epic 2.0 ? What suck is the next expansions ? Why is it `now 70% pay to win ...

The dumbing down has been happening for a while now. First it was making it so only 1 stat mattered instead of 5, then it was reducing everything to potency and CB, and now it's reducing all damage to 4 types. One of these days I'm expecting to log in and just see pacman on the screen.

well .. it's all about balance issues.

making only 2 stats matter for each archetype is easier so make items. and hybrid classes like SK or Dirges or even priests are easier to balance. Furies didn't need int and CA spec priest didn't need str anymore.

the issue with it is that some buffs/debuffs became a bit useless. and to me that's the issue .. they didn't go all the way. Before decreasing WIS mattered, because you were decreasing resists, but now it only matters for priest classes so .. u decrease WIS or AGI of a fighter and he doesn't care.

they should change spells/AAs that way. the spells that were decreasing agi now debuff avoidance, the ones decreasing WIS, debuff resists and so on.

for the other stats I agree ... or what they should do is remove some stats. I mean what's the big difference between accuracy and strikethrough ? why do we need both ?
what's the difference betwen DPS and WDB ? couldn't they just remove one ?
what's the difference between multi attack and flurry ? Because multi attack make u attack twice while flurry makes u attack multiple times. so ...I don't see the need of multi attack ... or I'm missing something.

just clean up stats. and same for buffs debuffs.

Yeah i left because i got fed up too. at the end you almost had to use an operationnal research solver to optimize your toon, and on top nothing was linear due to caps and dimishing return.

FOr my warden it was : casting speed, double cas, reuse, recovery, multi attack -- why not flurry -- weapong damage binus, ability mod, multi attack, crit chance potency,, critical bonus , resistances, mitigation, ...

and i m not counting the immunitties (stun, stiffle and so on), the effect from adorn and the clickues ...
