Greed - n. An excessive desire to acquire or possess more than what one needs or deserves, especially with respect to material wealth

Who gets to determine how much someone needs or deserves?
What is their knowledge of SOE's overhead that empowers them to make that judgement?
While we are on that why does anyone NEED this mount?
There are plenty of available mounts to choose from, I'm not going to say they DON'T need it, isn't my place but if they are going to lay claim that SOE is greedy, maybe they should be looking in a mirror.

It isn't an objective term, it is an emotional response, often fueled by mob mentality, one person says greed and soon enough it'll start echoing, just like one braying jac... donkey in a field will set the others off, they don't even know what the ruckus is about most of the time.

I think some of you are really missing the bigger picture here…

It’s sexual discrimination mostly because a majority of players who were interested in it were female or a male player wanting it for a female character or a wife/GF who plays with a small monitory of males wanting it just because…which I think is the reason why they won’t let us dye our armor.

All shades of Pink isn’t a color EQ or EQ2 want to see a lot in game either, as to why they feel pinks are offensive to look I don’t know why. They can’t use “it’s just not right” for the type of game it is when we see oddities such as the Meatbeast to begin with now can us? I could go on with other odd things that don’t make sense in this game.

A another thing is look at the new grotto items and how masculine they were, which is good to a point but where are the flowers that we see in real life that lovers buy for their wives? I mean look all around in the EQ2 game you hardly seen Flowers plants but you see flower trees or flower bushes but nowhere the array of flowers we see in RL…why? Is it a male thing? They must really hate flowers or feel drawing flowers make them seem feminine when they should feel they are catering to females gamers who will love them more for it. I know if flora is turned on, you see wild flowers but them are not ones we can place in our house either.

Females need to unite and complain via /feedback or where else it’s appropriate.

The new grotto items were too masculine? Where is all this even coming from? *so confused now*

I sincerely hope this post was meant to be an off-topic joke, because I LOVE the new grotto items and worry about putting them into some of the homes I decorate. I feel they're still too feminine (and I am female!), like the purple lilac tree, jacaranda (dark purple flowers, hey!), drop-leaf blooms... After the new grotto stuff, my plants warehouse is DROWNING in purple plants. There's more purple and lavender than there are blue, yellow, orange, or red!

We already have TONS of flowers. You don't get much more fru-fru frilly girlier than the green wisp, which you can now purchase from a Qeynos merchant for just a small amount. I loved getting plants that were just plants, no frilly flowers attached. That's why I buy elephant ears for my back yard, and palms and philodendrons. No flowers! Just lots of lush pretty green variegated foliage. They don't seem masculine to me at all. They seem tropical, and add that perfect flair that I've been dying to get for some time now.

There's also plenty of pink in the game, right down to the hot pink rhinoceros that my bright hot-pink arasai rides everywhere. The dying armor issue has nothing to do with fear of pink.

I spent forever grinding out Rime faction for their mount and armor .... *grumbles*

As a comment on the price, remember that SoE just needs 10% at least of their players (labeled Whales) to buy an item to cover a good amount of costs.

"In casino parlance the people spending far more than the average person are known as "whales". And it appears these whales now exist also in video games." ~ Quoted from Tobold's Blog para. 2

So all marketing has to do is play on the wallets of those people they KNOW will shell out money for things. I admit, I have bought things for 20$ when a mount or armor set has come out. But no one should EVER feel they need to stop paying bills or food, etc for a digital item.

I have not been around for this event (as I was in EQ doing a player event of my own) so I don't know alot of what happened. But I truly do not believe this price was any "April Fool's Joke".

As for the person who posted that SoE claimed it was because it was "rare" ... good grief. Another way to play on people's wallets. I also truly do not believe people just clicked w/o looking at the price. You get enough "Are you sure?" messages, so claiming you 'didn't see it' is not true and a poor excuse.

I agree it's reasonable to see the Pink Bovoch as being geared more to girl gamers, though there are likely to be some guys who see pink as the new black.

On the other hand, I think the plants in the game aren't geared to appeal to men more than women. I think they have universal appeal. Between Moonlight Enchantment and the Erollisi event, there's quite a lot of variety to cater to many tastes and colour schemes.

Any new flowers or flower colours could be suggested here: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...ist-city-festivals-moonlight-enchantments.78/

The Wishlist threads seem to be quite effective, considering the new items now available thru' Moonlight Enchantments, eg very happy with the new Watery Tile.

I wasn't trying to say I don't like them, it's the mind set or how generally men view what is pretty and generally what women view as pretty if that make sense. As a game as a whole you can tell it's been designed by a man because for example if Antonia had any say on her city there should be flower beds along the sidewalks or walkways but you don’t see them. Even Greater Feydark is another area where you should see more girly type flowers of pinks/purples but we don’t. Men generally have a different view of what is pretty and that isn't always a bad thing for men have good taste too.

As for tons I going to disagree for we have a array of bushes with some flowers but no flowers like mums or array of other flowers people actually plant in flowerbeds. I only know of a few actual flowers that would be what you would plant in flowerbeds...not something you would plant in a overgrown jungle I might add.

As for pink? -No, there is no way not enough for my liking and the way I understood armor dye was for that reason was because of the laud colors such as pink and other bright colors.

I have to say in response to this, it's a fact women wear more pink than men and as much I tried to not make it about being sexual discrimination because I know some men do wear pink but nothing like women do and you have to at least know that. I strongly believe when they decided to make a Pink Meatbeast they had to know that color would make the female gamers who love the Meatbeast’s want one and males wanting one for their female characters generally …for seeing a male character on one will be far far far in between the other majority who did buy it.

    Hi everyone,

I know there are a number of threads on this topic. I'm going to post my reply here and redirect those other conversations.

We are really excited about all of the new bovochs that have been introduced for Bristlebane day. With this article (posted on Friday), it made sense to talk about ALL variations of the Meatbeast, including the one that was only available on April 1.

When we publish news about the Marketplace, we do not list exact prices, because sometimes prices change. Going to the in-game Marketplace directly is the only way to be completely sure of the current prices.

Buying the Beloved Berry-Fed Bovoch, like any item in the Marketplace, comes down to a personal decision: is it worth it for you at the price that it's available at? If it was, hopefully you are enjoying your new mount! Yes, this type of exclusive time and premium pricing was something new for us, and we will take all forms of feedback (from purchase amounts to forum discussions and everything in between) into consisderation as we move forward.

If you have more questions, comments, or concerns, please keep them in this thread.

    Thanks,
    Dexella

    “Wow!. I mean really, WOW!

Servers are empying, content is broken, itemisation is non-existant, lag issues are making the game unplayable and there is a 7-page thread of people complaining at the cost of an item of fluff on the Marketplace. They haven't started selling Masters, fabled armour or anything like that, it's just a mount and not even a flying mount at that. It has no impact on gameplay yet people are this quick to jump on the whining bandwagon.

It's taken a while but I think I've finally realised where the real problems with EQ2 are.”

They've been selling Masters for a long time now.. Research--->upgrade with SC.

I just got the worst sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Premium pricing was a success, time to move up to the next tier and find out just how much money you can get away with charging for an item. I guess we already have proof that people will jump through the hoop for $50.

As long as the premium pricing is on stuff that has no impact on gameplay- that's fine.

The sooper eckspensiv meatbeast is less problematic than health, mana and vitality potions, spell upgrades, on-the-fly repairs, etc etc etc

Sinking right there with you. Those who bought the mount have just set the new bar for future prices. Yay.

Welcome to the New Pricing Strategy from SOE that everyone who was silly enough just bought into and forced upon everyone else!
Way to LOSE CUSTOMERS ONCE AGAIN!

Let me re-iterate my Taco Bell Business Model ( Which IS proven fact and not just something I made up )

    1. First opened for business, Burrito's ( same ones we get today ) were being sold for anywhere from $3.00 - $4.00 in areas.
    2. Taco Bells lost customers due to high prices for products offered.
    3. Taco Bell store fronts closing left and right due to high prices for products offered.
    4. A GENIUS in marketing/board room/ wherever decided to lower the cost to $0.59 cents and VIOLA!!
    5. A thriving business with locations abounding.

Do you see where you went wrong SOE?
You didn't before, lets see if you can LEARN AND GROW.

    1. People are out of work, out of savings and generally have LESS money to throw around.
    2. Your prices are going UP, along with the pricing of Food, Gas, Clothing everything else in the world.
    3. People will STOP paying for Frivolous virtual items PRIOR to not getting food, gas, clothing etc.
    4. You should really follow the Taco Bell Business Model and IMPROVE your business, your bottom line and keep your CUSTOMERS RETURNING.

Just plain wow. at both the customers who bought into this load of cow dung and soe for coming up with it instead of doing things the right way for ALL Concerned.

Exaclty the feeling I am getting. It sucked pretty bad that most of the really cool and unique gear graphics have moved to the Marketplace in the last 2 years. Now it looks like the Marketplace may end up being far more expensive to participate in.
  19. Lempo Well-Known Member

And the Direct selling of masters in the market place... well it isn't direct but it a lot closer to being direct than this pink cow was to being deceiving.
  20. Morg Well-Known Member

Oh, they have already started that with the new improved for half the value for Triple the cost of xp/debt reducer potions. This was step #2. And some people just had to have their blinders on. Sad sad sad
