Now i just have to find a 23 mathematically inclined socialists with gaming skills and i'll be unstoppable!
Haha you got it! Its even harder than that though, they have to be interested in playing EQII! Its hard to recruit them though, since it is mathematically unappealing because of jewelry!
I think you need to take a negation to your universal quantifier to make your statement sounds more logical.
Just a 2 cents from old players that came out of retirement. I LOVE reading this treat .... First about Skill - there is NONE in this game simple like that, I am with Koko on this page (and no not because my main was a coercer in my time mimic did not exist). Spell efficiency can calculate anyone, lazy one can get that on google. EQII unlike EQI do not have "endurance" fights that last 1hour+ thus even I hardly remember time when mana efficiency of spells played any roles what so ever. Yes with Temp buffs that give insane damage spike and with increment nukes those need to be taken in account but come on ... don't be silly this is not rocket science to speak about skills....An oh yeah .. there are always a macro . No about gear ... in my time (frankly it was almost 10 years ago) no a single piece of gear was worth 25% DPS increase ... hell whole set of raid gear would not gave that much over crappy treasured gear really. On other hand what is made real difference in my time was a quality of the spells ... lock with all masters but in crappy gear would ALWAYS outdps warlock in all fabled raid gear but ... with crappy Adept I/Adept III spell ... Personally (you can throw rotten tomato in me ) I firmly believe that for caster class quality of spells should play most crucial role (I'd personally see Grandmaster/Ancient level of spell give you 25% edge for given spell)
Speaking of EQI top guilds usually did not follow that concept .. DKP was way to go ... I was on server where legendary LoS was playing (Legacy of Steel) the only 1 guild was rival and arguably above LoS in whole EQI world - that was FoH (Fire of Haven)
DoomDrake bumped this thread so I had to read it all again. Was laughing a bit as I now remember how concerned Koko was with the path of jewelry. Not because he was right but because we now also have Ethereals creating even bigger gaps. Koko u gotta love this game now
Weapons are creating a gap because of rarity and in some cases having different size of boosts depending on the class. It also managed to create the itemization issue I have always had with PvP in heavily itemized MMO's; where having the Sword of Butt whooping or Shield of Undying created a gap so large they were in a league of their own. "Well he has that one super weapon, might as well not even try." Compounded by making it stuck behind RNG, at least in PvP if it was a PvP Item you could grind it out.
