Good morning. I am having a reoccurring issue with staying logged into game if I afk for more than 30 minutes. (You have been disconnected) I cant run a trader (other than offline) or go help the wife or whatever. This could be something simple as my power settings on the computer or a similar problem (I'm pretty sure its on my end) Can anyone recommend something for me to try? Thank you in advance!
Did this just start? Is your computer going into sleep mode - like if your not in eq do you have to wiggle your mouse to wake up your computer if you leave it for 30 minutes?
Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections Right-click your network connection (assuming Local Area Connection on a desktop), select Properties and then click Configure. Go to the Power Management tab and check the box for "Allow this device to wake the computer".
do not turn off sleep mode,it just wears down your PC, your best off doing the option moogs suggested.
Either way I am sure those folks that stay on line in the lobby for days at a time are doing one or the other of the options mentioned. Computers are much more advanced and don't need to go into sleep mode like the old days.
My desktop consumes: 272 watt-hours with the pc and monitor on 153 watt-hours of electricity when it's powered on and the monitor is powered off 13 watt-hours in sleep mode with the monitor off 6 watt-hours drawn from the wall via the UPS It adds up over the course of a month.
This is not a concern in quality made pc builds. Laptops, and off the shelf models will die quickly whether you enable sleep mode or not.
In the options screen you can turn off auto afk and you'll never go afk. My screen saver modes comes on, but I move the mouse it still continue to be in game with no problem for hours....hope this helps!!
This did not work. Thank you for the suggestion. I run Windows 10 and there is no option to select properties and configure. Open to other ideas.
To turn off sleep mode: In Windows 10 you can get there from right clicking on the start menu and going to Power Options. Click change plan settings next to your current power plan. Change "Put the computer to sleep" to never. Click "Save Changes" To allow it to wake computer: Hardware tab, and then click Properties. Click the Change Settings button. ... Click the Power Management tab, and then verify that the Allow this device to wake the computer is enabled.
