And it should be easy for you to find something else to do. You're always on these posts crying your heart out about cheaters but you never have any constructive input to correct things in the game that would make people not want to use automation software. You just sit there and argue semantics. Please tell me how someone at their keyboard playing 6 characters in some unpopulated zone ruins the game for you or anyone else?

I bet you're one of those people I mentioned earlier that plays with your clique of fellowship members and rarely groups with anyone else.

So you're admitting you have no life other than to grief people on the boards and stir up a bunch of non constructive nonsensical arguments. And you don't unravel much. You aren't some great Socrates. You're just a geriatric gamer that plays a 23 year old game thats been on oxygen life support since Kunark.

Automation is a long form plat dupe.

Automators can leave their computer unattended to farm platinum, TS loot, chase loot, and collectibles. They in turn convert their ill-gotten wealth into Krono for RMT or membership. They can also use that ill-gotten wealth to acquire tradable expansion keys, chase loot, collectibles, illusions, mounts, teleports, and other items of value.

(They also monopolize mobs and camps for drops over long periods of time thus disrupting gameplay for other players).

Daybreak has to regulate software for what it could do and not what the user would do.

Lotta words.. just to try to justify cheating.

If you down for cheaters. Just say so. No justification required. And when you eventually get busted for it. We will enjoy you're eq is gonna die post. Like all the rest.

Are you so delusional as to think that player input on either side has anything to do with this? It's more likely that they're cracking down on automation now, after 20 years of inaction, for server performance reasons than "anti-cheat pressure." Get over yourself, you don't matter to Daybreak.

A whole lotta certainty about 'cheating' from someone who doesn't even know what 'dupe' means in games.

SOE and Daybreak has long opposed automation. It's not related to server performance. They were suspending players for auto-foraging for more than a decade.

In a way, I hope you are partially right because it means they are extremely entrenched against automation. It doesn't explain why they are allowing some cheat threads, however.

If they are doubting or seeking feedback, it is good to keep the anti-cheat pressure regardless. Why let up when the game has survived with 23 years of anti-automation rules?

I see this posted a lot. PP has value? Unless you are on FV who the hell cares about pp.

You can buy Krono with platinum obviously.

It’s amusing people think they care about anything other than MRR and ARR.
  11. Vaeeldar Augur

And? I personally would hate having to click the thing every month but if the theory is people get to play for free who cares? IF nothing else they get to take a liability off the books.

Automaters farm platinum and other high value items (not at their computer) to acquire Krono. They in turn sell the Krono for RMT or trade the Krono for other high value items (expansion keys, chase loot, illusions) to RMT.
  13. Vaeeldar Augur

IN the modern game - if you aren’t on FV there is very few “high” value items. I don’t get the angst over this one way or another.

At the end of the day the only thing that matters to the company though is MRR and ARR
  14. Benito EQ player since 2001.

You need to get off of FV/TLP and check out other Live servers.

People still pay many Kronos for Blood-Soaked items, expansion keys, heroic character boosts, Heritage crate items, LoN items, etc. Obviously, they can also be RMT'd.

Automators can flip their ill-gotten wealth (trade platinum for Krono) for those high-demand items.
  15. Vaeeldar Augur

You haven’t once commented on the MRR/ARR aspect.

So your example is DPG should kill something they are selling and making revenue on?
  16. Whulfgar Augur

Never realized FV was thee only server that has zero Cheaters on it. That's amazazing..

Automation offers an advantage not granted to all players. It is cheating.

This is like saying a few trawlers can destroy the population of bluefin tuna (to the detriment of local fishermen) because it makes revenue. LOL.
  18. Vaeeldar Augur

It’s funny posts keep popping up daily about this. MEanwhile all suspensions - no banning. Obviously they are concerned about MRR/ARR.

    Right?

There was recently a dev post talking about the server lag caused by such common things as multibinds and swarm pets. It stands to reason that the multiplicative effect of numerous automated characters spamming abilities on cool down or reacting to conditions immediately would have a similar effect.

If Daybreak's primary intent was to cripple cheating they could do it through code. For example, even monk track would be simple to disable by just not sending information about all of the spawns in a zone to a connected client, and instead doing a proximity check and only sending nearby spawn information. Sure, there would be some implementation details to figure out like how to do it without breaking the tracking ability, but it isn't something they've ever pursued, at least that they've broadcasted publicly.
