Separate the augs from the rest, allow it to roll 0-2 armor/weapon pieces in missions, 0-1 on named, and a separate 0-1 aug chance. Somewhere in that ballpark seems reasonable?
I was going to say something along those lines as well. It's (thankfully) been a long time since group gear meant instant death in raids. I still think this system is remarkably terrible though.
Well, I was speaking more about the actual tradeskill drops (ores, silks, hides, etc.) than the gear specific drops. If animal mobs drop hides in one expansion, they're gonna drop hides in the next one...just go back to the previous expansion and use whatever the drop rate ended up being for the start of the next expansion.

I have run approx 60 missions and have seen the following: 1 Type 5 ore drop 0 Type 7/8 ore drop 10 ish Face, ring, ear etc ores drop (every single one was rot) 9 Cloaks drop during this time. Add to that: 20-25 named mobs 0 Aug ores I am all for grinding, making a challenge and keeping the player base engaged - however.... The stats are showing these ores are dropping far too infrequently.
We went back out there today for a bit, so a combined 33 Kills of Merrimore Ychansk has now yielded 5 Fortitude and 2 Heroism when I was there, not sure how many were killed or what dropped when I wasn't there.

Approximately 23 named mobs, 18 from T2 and 5 from T1. 3 of my 4 Otherworldly Fortitude drops have been from T2 named mobs. I have 2 accounts with a total of 7 characters of logs to search. I may have missed a one or two if I was on my main and left the mission before the chest was looted. This happened a few times in the SH mission because I try to hurry up and flip characters to run in the next mission. I know for certain I have seen more then 2 belts drop in that mission. I don't have an exact number, but I would estimate about 45 total missions across my accounts. My main has been in 31 missions. Majority of the missions I've ran (~30 of the ~45) have been SH because of the cloak (7 cloak drops in total). --IF-- there is a drop table, with 6 or 7 otherworldly items per chest, here are my results. And if it holds true, the Fortitude came from the shimmering chest which I believe is Mean Streets. I've only done the Darklight mission 4 times because the NPC was out of the game for a little time. A Solid Chest is from the SH mission and had the following drops (14 recorded drops): 4x Earring 4x Mask 2x Belt 1x Amice 1x Idol 1x Neck 1x Charm A War Chest is from the Under Siege mission: 2x Wrist 2x Hands A Shimmery Chest is from Mean Streets? mission: 1x Fortitude A Manifested Chest is from the Darklight? mission: 1x Shield
Nice. A ~20% chance to drop aug bits would make it farmable, but not an easy farm. Why did you kill that mob that many times?
