No real plat sinks in EQ anymore?

Not that this idea is even possible as it would require duplicating every single item in the game to allow it to be either NoTrade and Tradable. If i am right you can not simply remove NoTrade tag on a single item without all of the items being made the same. Similar to FV.

But what is the be objection to having 99% loot tradeable anyway? After moving to FV where it is allowed i just cant see what the problem is. The bazaar is freaking amazingly dynamic. I would have to assume people on FV absolutely love it. IDK FV seems to be doing very well.

Although Kronos resellers may play a part in the rapid increase in the plat cost of kronos I think the otherl reason is far simpler and less nefarious. There are simply more people wanting to buy Kronos to use for subscription time then they are people wanting to sell Kronos. I don't think there will be any way to stabilize the price of Kronos as long as there is at least one player willing to outbid others on kronos in the bazaar... I saw the price on Xegony go from 500k to 850k bit by bit as people kept trying to outbid each other. I suppose a solution would be to add some sort of game advantage mechanic that costs large of amounts of plat to create a need for massive amounts of plat and that would in turn increase the number of kronos sellers but that cure seems worse then the problem.

I also don't believe anyone needs to JUSTIFY what price they sell their kronos for. If I was reselling or buying with cash then selling I am going to get the best price I can. I am not a public service to the Free to Play players.

    Market correction:
    Feb 2014: $170 = 4.5mil
    Sept 2014: $85 = 4.5mil

Why do you have a sense of entitlement that other people playing the game "should" spend their own $US so you can get Gold access time at a rate of 15k per day?

The person spending the $US will decide at which plat price point it's worth it to them to spend the money. There is no "supposed" to be price for Krono, other players aren't your vassals slaving away at jobs so they can fulfill an obligation to provide you with 450k Krono.

Whatever price the market determines is the price you have to pay or do without, as the price rises more people will be willing to spend $US and fewer people will be willing to spend plat and the rate of increase will slow and the price may even fall. As the price drops the reverse.

As someone who has never seen Cragbeast Queen in the 9+ years on my alt monk (and yes I know about the two game hour window), I would pay lots of plat to be able to spawn my own CBQ once a week or so :)

Why do you consistently follow up my posts in threads with erroneous assumptions about my character and intents?

I don't have any sense of entitlement that people should spend their money for my access. I have a paid sub. Thank you very much. Try the veal.

Not even sure where this is coming from or going.. or how it pertains to what was posted.

Yes, the krono price is driven by the market. The intent of the market is what is at stake. A number of people buy krono simply because of the exaggerated price increases, in hopes they will continue to increase in value.

If that aspect is taken out of the equation, the price is then driven solely by those who wish to use krono for their intended purpose.

This has basically digressed to another Krono complaint / share the wealth thread. Honestly, so what if there is millions of plat floating out there on the server, and so what if people are going to charge high for whatever item they are selling. Let them. You -the- consumer can either choose to pay their price or don't pay at all. It is as simple as that. If you think there is too much plat on your character, by all means - start sending it to people that are broke. That is a great way to sink it.
  7. Ruven_BB Augur

The win/win is increase the supply of Kronos. If the demand falls for kronos, so will supply. If you can find ways that will encourage players to spend US cash for in game items that are vendor/rent related not tied to player transactions, you increase supply of kronos and create plat sinks at the same time.

This will not hose players with low game assets nor erode the trust to SoE for bait and switching a product that was advertised tradable.

    $1 = 66000 plat from a website.

    1 Krono = $17 (if buying more than 1)

    therefore : 1 Krono = 1,122,000 plat.

If you are buying them cheaper than that you're saving money/plat.

you illustrate, very well, plat inflation in reference to the $$$. Again the reason is purely due to the fact that plat is not removed from the game.

I think about 5+ years ago $100 got you some 250-500kpp....

The longer the game goes without a way to remove plat the larger that number will become. Adding new currency to the game does not fix the problem. you simply continue to devalue plat and other currency. and any new currency will eventually become worthless as well.

Its been my experience that some of the wealthiest players have been my fellow raiders. It makes sense - its been a long time since I've seen someone under the millions or tens of millions mark in a high-end location. We play a lot, and have been for a long time as a general rule. I don't mind paying my subscriptions on my card - Kronos are simply the only thing I could possibly have left to burn any if I wanted to.

If you want an easy solution, it would be in a casino system that includes augs. If you put a PoWar-level augs in the lore category, or even slightly less powerful versions like the ToRot caster aug equivalent, with rare chances and huge ticket prices you're going to pull hundreds of millions from the game. The trick is to find the right balance of rarity and not allow for the lore items to be tradable to game the system (I have a bag I can hand over to guarantee anyone the top speed mount in two tickets from the loyalty vendor at most).

Its no secret that we all have an aug fetish. That is the one thing people go insane for. Our gear constantly evolves, but some of the best-in-slot farmable augs still go 3-4 expansions back. Augs stay with us for years. They're minimal enough that it won't become an absolute necessity to have, but also drive most of us to push heavily to attain them.

tl;dr - find a way to use a few modern augs in this equation (casino 2.0 with the right rarity) and you'll be well on the way to accomplishing the task for years to come.

As I actually read this thread, 90% of the people are debating Krono mechanics or proposing a spread of wealth among players, with 10% discussing the original intent of the thread - what Sony can implement to remove platinum from players altogether and take it out of the economy forever (what could motivate us to burn it at an npc instead of player transactions.) May wanna give Roshen some ideas here pertaining to the intent. We're getting off topic. :p

I love this idea, but would make the following changes:

EQ only monthly subs -- this is already avaiable in the bazaar but does not remove plat from the game. EQ only subs not all access 500kpp. Heck leave krono for all access and call this something else.
    • AA cap increase for FTP -- so do they even sale these anymore? 200k per 100AA
    • Spell Unlocks (Rk2) for FTP (monthly unlock) -- they dont have this in MP 100kpp This IS in the market place, or at least it was and it is a permanent unlock. Haven't checked in a while.
    • Prestige gear unlocks for an expansion -- they dont have this in MP -- 10 Million PP
    • Merc Unlocks (J3) for FTP (monthly unlock) -- they dont have this in MP -- 200kpp
    • Merc Slots -- Big deal? 1-2Mpp each slot 1 per char Available in the MP.
    • Merc contracts -- 1 Million PP - leave the cooler merc contracts exclusive to MP
    • Heroic Chars -- 10 Million PP
    • T1 group gear and other lower level gear. -- 50-150kpp i dont know going rate on normal servers for T1 group gear and low end gear.
    • T1 Raid Gear (Previous Expansions Only) - 5 Million PP per slot base, more/less for certain slots.
    • buff potions All classes = both takes plat from game and afk junk in lobby. also add some unique buff potions that will benefit while playing. Various DPS, Tankin, Healing buffs. (100-1kpp)
    • Gate potions same things in guild hall but more pricey. (1-5kpp) Buying them in the bazaar only costs about 300-500 PP.
    • Meaningful stat food and drink that gives a buff when consumed rather than simply eating junk and taking advantage of the stat food (100-1kpp) Lots of food and drink in the bazaar.
    • exp potions (100kpp) - Great Idea!
    • Bags (1-2Mpp) keep best bags exclusive to MP
    • Mounts/illusions (Unlimited charges/casts) (10 Million PP)
    • Trade-skill stuff Trade skill stuff is readily available everywhere in game, or nearly everywhere.
    • Name changes (2Mpp)
    • Titles (100-1Mpp) people dieing for new titles why not sell them.
    • Heroes forge gear and unlocks (5 Million PP) not really sure why you have to pay $$$ to unlock a needed graphical feature. but i would pay pp for it.
    • Taxing bazaar and barter transactions. already a small fee for buying remotely.
    • New gold ticket game. T1 raid items (Current Expansion). or something that is a very big carrot but cost a good amount of plat. (1 Million PP) very small chance to win game
    • Casino? House always wins in the long run =) bet upto 100k pp /random 1000 750+ get your pp back 900+ you get 1.5x 950+ you get Double, 999/1000 earns you a Gold Ticket for previous suggestion and your PP back.

So make good ways for platinum to leave the economy. Expensive, high-value, potions for example. Potions that give effects similar to the veteran expendable AAs. Don't underestimate the amount of money somebody would pay to be top of the dps parse for even one boss fight.

Another idea might be to add more valuable/useful training options at class guildmasters that cost plat.

Those are just 2 things I came up with in 30 seconds of thinking about it... There are all sorts of options... SOE should explore!

They don't want implementation of anything that takes away from marketplace sales. I think it may be difficult to justify a lot of these items, as they aren't directly in the marketplace, but may reduce cashflow. Imagine bigger bags available for high plat - thst may just be the difference that stops someone from spending $70 on the bag bundle.

Name changes, heroic characters, titles, xp potions, Hero's Forge - you're actually duplicating marketplace there. Simply a very rare drop of raid gear freaked people out - selling it outright will unleash a hellish nightmare like they've never seen before on these boards. Prestige gear or Rk. III spells are probably the only reason a lot of raiders maintain gold status on max AA characters. I think your ideas are fun, but for any real chance of implementing this, you're going to have to start thinking about things that arent 'like marketplace items.'

I wouldn't be surprised if they took your ideas in some areas and simply started charging station cash for them.

I do like the concept of the post above - potions duplicating glyphs. Most raiders seem to be max AA, though, and use AA solely for glyphs. There would probably be a sizable market for a Calaclysm potion, though. Gotta hate pulling up the AA window mid-fight to grab another. The game is already balanced around these abilities anyways.

Because any answer supplied to the question raised in the OP fails under the simple I'd rather it be available by doing non-raid ach/quests, rares from named, zonewide rares, accumulation of points/currency, limited time events, tradeskills, loyalty points, LoN, SC, RaF rewards or even require raiding to obtain.

I'd much rather have Golden Tickets 2.0 enter the game like Triumvirate Blood Stone or Xorbb's Caged Hatred or Oath of Marr. Those 3 things could be used as a plat sink, but rather than being concerned with completely meaningless player to player inflation of prices I'd rather them be concerned with "reasons to complete current content".

How to get a Lore, No Trade version of Oath of Marr, complete current content: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=7330

How to get a Plane of War-ish aug, complete current content: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=7633

How to get a Glyph of Stored Experience, complete current content: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=113370

Everything available from Shadiest Swashbuckler is something that could have been used as an incentive/reward to complete current content instead of trying to reduce the amount of virtual currency in a game and make farming Sebilis for gems more relevant due to deflation.

    5-10% tax on bazaar transfers.
  19. Iila Augur

    No.
I already have to be gold AND give up using the account while a trader is running.

A new 100% NPC run trader feature can add in a tax, if it drops those requirements. But the current system already has a flat monthly cash requirement to use.

YES! I would love to throw some cash at a guildmaster to never bandage anything ever again.
