Ok, what am I doing wrong? Level 100 100k hp 12000 ac Using 2-hander Sol Honor Blade Mc procs off first mob kill, so I pull 4 more even con mobs. They roll right over me in about 10 secs even with 2 healer mercs.
Get more ac, hps, xp, levels. U cannot just pull 5 even mobs, and expect mc to keep you alive, even with healers. I guess the Things that do make sk (hard to kill) = level 105. Am thinking you saw some video of some sk pulling huge amount of mobs....
Heroic Dex has a huge impact on "swarmability." Since staying alive via MC lifetaps is mostly based around healing more incoming damage than you're receiving, you need a high riposte % to stay alive vs big swarms. Would recommend a heroic dex in the range of 600-800, with heroic stamina at 400 as a bare minimum. More heroic agility helps, too, as does using your discs to get you that extra chunk of mitigation needed. This is @ 105. Can scale slightly downwards for 100. Be sure to self buff yourself with your three lifetap proc buffs at bare minimum. Against higher level stuff you'll need to do more to stay alive. Also be aware mortal coil has a hit counter, so you have to chain them together to make it "work" against large swarms of even or near even con mobs. This is helpful on lower level swarms as well (a la Valley) if you want fast, constant XP. Lastly, would recommend you start small (at 100, The Grounds in HoT is perfect for fast leveling, as is Valley of Lunanyn tier 1 side; the farmers/soldiers/trees). Work your way up to the harder stuff. Note: I'm not an SK main, I don't even like SK's, I don't know how to play one. I just know how to swarm stuff in TDS and below for fast power leveling
Ok, I guess it was just unrealistic expectations. I figured with TBM gear on I could stop worrying about single pulls. Got ac and sta augs for the gear. With my self buffs and bard I can get my ac up to about 13k. I just don't remember these mobs hitting this hard when I ran through level 100 with my Paladin or warrior.
Roxx, Where did you pull the 4 even con mobs? This can make a huge difference. You are in group gear, being in raid gear is what makes swarming for many possible. It can be done in group gear, but takes a lot more ability. You may also want to look at sword and board for even con, especially if your with a group, it will give the healer mercs the time necessary to get that heal off. With 2h stance, you may take enough damage to get rounded and thus healer isn't going to help you. Ill be raiding tonight so you are welcome to throw me some tells and I will answer anything I can for you.
Get raid gear. SK epic & MC help prolong things only if you can survive the damage to begin with. Killing multiple mobs as an SK isn't so much about being an SK as it is either discing or playing in trivialized content.
DH Gribbles, not really trying to swarm, just been trying out different classes, had no problem with War or Pally, if I pulled 4 I could just hit a disc and live. I usually sword n board but I figured with mc up the extra heals from extra damage I do would compensate.
You need to be reposting even con mobs are going to land way more hits than lower con mobs. It stil requires more active play than relying on mc or epic. With that being said it is a nice contrast to see what is possible in group gear vs all the outrage over raid geared tanks rolling group content
I've been working the last few months on getting a lot of different 105's on my 4 accounts so I can pick different combos to escort my cleric around. clr/wiz/wiz/brd is my fav now, but war/Zerk/Zerk/brd is is nice too.
You used the number 12000 above, and say buffed 13k here. Just checking, but when you say self buffed, does that include Drape of the Wrathforged 227, and Torrent of Misery 279, and Impose for Power 650? Bard boost should be in the 1k range, with Spiteful Lyric and Doben's Spry Sonata going
I was active on the SK, had all my self buffs up, hit a def disc and cast 2 taps and was dead, it felt like I wasn't reposting at all.
Yes, I'm reaching around 13k with bard and when I pull with impose. I'm using all the self shields that I know of at level 100.
How hard were the mobs hitting you for? Also, when you are life tapping, you are not reposting. When you pull mutliples the ae lifetap is best as well.
Four shouldn't be too big of a deal with 2 hander if talking Gribbles on Sk. Sounds like you just need to get timing down and figure out what to stack up/stagger out. Put Grelleth's skin on inbetween pulls. Hit reprove inbetween pulls and as it pops. Click Unholy Guardian Disc then immediately drop it (you don't want the disc running, you want the buff for free lifetaps when you bash/riptoise). Put up Grelleth Carapace for more taps and the Vie. Broodmantle when that drops. Click RoF or CoTF bp for more taps. Get anguish bp/epic for more heals. Becareful casting taps/spells till you get things down because you can end up LOWERING your incoming healage depending on what you're running and how many you're tanking. Stack those things up along with shield stance whenever needed or when wanting to do larger than 4 pulls. Take Gotwar advice on the heroic dex. Things will go downhill more and more as you get timing down
How did I miss an AE life tap? And that probably answers the question on why I wasn't seeing reposts. Don't recall the numbers on what they were hitting for, but I was down 50% in 1 round.
Sounds, then, like it's just a personal progressive thing. Each gain in tanking ability is somewhat synergistic, multiplying how good your other tanking gains have been. You probably really don't have to keep worrying about strict singles as is. Like, those four even /cons all at once not slowed or Bonded clearly crested your current defenses, then dropping your hp like previously may have happened versus just 1 or 2 mobs; those same four mobs may have looked pretty trivial if slowed & Bonded so you had time to chain Insidious Deflection.
