I am pretty sure there is an option in Options to auto log into the general channel when you log on. if you havent make sure that is checked then log all the way out to desk top then back in, other than that im out of idea's
this is not the case this time, but it seem to be fixed, guess they changed it up cause on bristlebane there are 430 people in the main general chat right now
Looks like this issue's been fixed I saw 300+ in a few different server's general chats. woop woop thanks
It was certainly needed. A post was made on one of the EQ lore sites from an obviously bored fellow who managed to get into General Chat towards the end of September this year, /listed all the people into his log file, then did a /who on every one of them, or finding one /anon, looked in one particular zone for them. Out of two hundred people in General, he found roughly one hundred forty of them were located in Guild Lobby. Increasing the size of the General channel was likely easier than creating a script to automatically log inactive characters out of General.
On my server, (Povar) there used to be typically 2 or 3 general channels active. (I have not checked lately, as my playtime has dropped a lot due to various RL concerns.) I liked to keep a character like a bazaar trader logged in to a channel, and would frequently check them for recent questions and how-to requests while playing on other toons. It feels good when you can solve someone's problem easily with a tell... and quite often simple questions were ignored until I happened to notice them. Such monitoring will be more effective if people are not split out to multiple channels. And I'm glad that they did not put in something to kick my mostly-idle mule from the channel.
This issue seems to have returned, at least on Povar. General (201) Channel General not found. No longer allowing me into general chat when general is full at the old 200 person limit. Not filtering into General1.
Too late. Although sorry about the titillation? It is kind of nice that general is full though, at least?
Not really, means we gotta join an auto-generated channel manually that is almost empty since it doesn't auto-populate from overflow.
I had this message on Tunare-7th Hammer last night and wasn't sure what had happened. Glad to see Im not the only one.
